Out now on PS5 and PS4, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is yet another chapter in the (ongoing) saga of Kazuma Kiryu. Taking place before, during, and after the events of Yakuza: Like a Dragon, it's all about what uncle Kaz was up to as Ichiban and his party did battle with corrupt politicians.
We really enjoyed this latest instalment in RGG Studio's series, awarding it an 8/10 in our Like a Dragon Gaiden PS5 review. "This is another memorable chapter in Kiryu's seemingly endless tale," we wrote. "Gaiden stands as a rock solid instalment, and a potent reminder of why Kiryu's such a beloved protagonist."
But now that this lead-up into next year's Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is here, we want to know if you're spending some time with Kaz. So vote in our polls, and then tell us all about your plans to conquer Sotenbori in the comments section below.

For me, actually yakuza games didn't click but I played yakuza Zero and 1, where zero's story was absolutely bonkers....
There are just too many games to play and not enough time!
I wish I could "fit it in", but it's not in the cards right now.
Not yet after my gow ragnorak playthrough
I definitely plan on picking it up at some point. For now, it’s on the wishlist.
if yong wasn’t in it i’d buy it. he’s annoying
@Funnydoode91 To be fair he's not in it... yet. The English dub is being added later (through a patch or DLC, we don't know).
I love the series however I get two weeks off at Christmas so I'll save it for then
I have all of them but the last Isshin. It tooks so much time when you want to do all the story side quests that its a real time investment so I didn't complete many.
I will consider purchase it as soon as it gets a physical issue.
Played all though wasn't a big fan of issen
Ordered the Play-Asia ps5 physical which will arrive in 3 weeks. Playing it on gamepass atm.
Played every game and spin on excluding OG ps2 1 and 2 and dead souls.
Even played Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise.
@ShogunRok we do know how. According to Play-Asia’s product page it’s a patch.
Finishing Lies of Pi first.
I will give it a go as its on gamepass
Im kind of burnt out on yakuza so I’ll probably wait for a sale to buy the man who erased his face.
This was my most anticipated game of the holiday season, so I'm absolutely playing it right now.
I was going wait for the English dub to drop, but I decided I wanted to play it before I go back to work on Sunday.
@Funnydoode91 Dude the english dub isn't even in the game yet. Plus the English VA is just an option. No one is forcing you if you don't want to
Yup. Started it up as soon as I got home from work. Right from the rip, I can tell this game is going to be pretty damn good, but that's not a surprise, this is series is one of the best.
I'm always there when it comes to Yakuza, one of my favourite gaming franchises. Have Gaiden all ready and installed on PS5 to hop onto shortly
Yep and then it's just Judgement games for me.
@GamingFan4Lyf I know your pain it's a big issue when getting older. 😆
@Fighting_Game_Loser oh i am well aware no one is forcing me. just stating my view of this product. it doesn’t matter to me if it’s optional i just find yong annoying and anything he’s associated with
As much as I love the Like a Dragon games, I don't plan on playing this any time soon. There's still plenty of other games in the series before I reach this one, and that's assuming I don't burn out on the series before then.
Until theres a big shake up, I cant play another with similar mini games in similar locations. Change of story is not enough.
I've thoroughly enjoyed what I've played of this series though, but it needs more than a 'rinse and repeat' to become essential again, and theres so many crazy good games around that Ive only got time for essential titles right now!
Burnout is a genuine issue that I didn't think I'd suffer with till FC6 and now Yakuza Like a Dragon and more recently Ishin. FC4 being my first time, FC3, FCPrimal, FC5, FC3 again remastered and then FC6 happened, just got proper bored with it all after FC6. Yakuza is different in the sense of I'm definitely playing again as it's one of my all time fav series but just need a long break from it all, makes sense considering I was there beating up Yakuza thugs on PS2 around 17 years ago, much needed. Backlog says hi how you doin
Playing? Not yet. Tales of Arise DLC first. But I did order a JP copy to play afterwards. Honestly only wanna play through it cause First Summer Uika is voicing Akame. Lol
I have a hard time believing that 28% of people polled have played every Yakuza game. Are these polls fake, or what?
@gipsojo I've been playing every single one since the first one came out on PS2 with Mark Hamill and Michael Madsen doing voices.
I've even played through the two PSP games even though they were Japan only.
@gipsojo still own every single UK pal Yakuza release physically. I'm looking up at my Yakuza shelf now as I type. Does suck a little that the latest one ain't getting a physical release outside of Japan
Love the games ,as its on the gamepass, this will actually be the first yakuza game i haven't bought,which makes me feel like a bit of a cop out if I'm honest,I may buy it to add to the collection at some point.
@Beerheadgamer82 I didn't know there was no physical release ,thats a bit crap
I'm so far behind!! Still half way through Y5 😂
@Mephisto2869 yh it's a bit crappy. You can buy it online from Japan but I'm not experienced enough myself to say what buying from there is like or how playable it is, if it has subtitles or not
Yup. Still on Chapter 2, about to go to the Castle for the first time. Did a biiig amount of side content today.
Nope. Probably won’t be for a little bit most likely. My order is still on hold on play Asia even though I contacted them over 24 hours ago.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that, truthfully, Infinite Wealth will probably be my next attempt to get into the series. There’s so much about the Yakuza… er… Like a Dragon games that seem like they should be absolutely for me, but it just hasn’t clicked, no matter which one I try. I used to feel this way about the Witcher though, so maybe fourth time’s the charm?
@somnambulance Same for me. I have tried so many of the Yakuza games and never got past the first few hours. I loved Like a Dragon though and cannot wait for Infinite Wealth. Giving this one a go on Gamepass but from what I have played so far it’s not massively drawing me in.
I' ve played every game but since there's no physical release I didn't buy Gaiden. Maybe I'll buy the Japanese version when I go to Tokyo for Christmas.
Currently playing and might be halfway through already thanks to being on break. There are pacing issues like you pointed out in your review, @ShogunRok , but it personally isn't hindering my experience at all. I cannot wait to be in tears by the end lol.
@Dadou
it has a physical release in Japan. I actually imported my copy and even with shipping it was less than the retail price for digital.
@gipsojo
I have a harder time believing 12% have zero interest...lol...
@Athrum
Now that is a way better story than waiting around for an Amazon package. I hope you have a great time in Japan.
@GeeEssEff To be honest, the Animal Crossing rip-off sold me on Infinite Wealth for Gamepass. I know people are already going crazy about the release schedule in 2024, but, for me, it looks sort of dead (outside FF7… and also as I say this a month before Geoff Keighley reveals and advertises the next six months of games in one night), so perfect time to try something that may or may not stick. I really hope I can get into it because everything I’ve seen is so over-the-top that I’m sort of stunned by the audacity of it all. I know that’s the Like a Dragon trademark, but still…
Not yet but i will.im chilling with my backlog.i got a lot of amazing games to play
word up son
I'm playing on GamePass, loving it so far!
I pre-ordered the game and I'm playing it , so far so good. Enjoying the old fighting system for the last time , cause it's not about being boring , but it's getting old , and the Rpg crazy style from Ichiban took the game to a new amazing level. I advice everyone to buy it and play it
Daytona USA 2? Isn't this never been released to console arcade classic playable? I'm shocked I can't find any opinion on the ROM. I've been waiting for 30ish years for a console Daytona 2. Ive played and loved some Yakuza's but I wish we had a definitive timeline to play all games.
Playing it and loving it.
Absolutely love these games. The world. The stories. The side content. Only on Chapter 2 but thats the point. The substories and side content is so good.
A dense smaller open world is better than an open empty one.
Eh. I enjoyed Like a Dragon's reimagining of the franchise as a kinda Persona-style turn-based JRPG. I think I've had enough of the action-based games since I binged all of them from zero to six about a year ago.
No physical = wait for PS Plus
It's really that simple. And this is coming from a guy who Platted 0, Kiwami, Kiwami 2, 3, 4, Dead Souls, 5, 6, LAD, Judgment, and soon Lost Judgment. I've been playing for over ten years but I am not going to stump up for a digital-only game. Might import the English language Asian copies for both PS4 and PS5 at some point.
I have never enjoyed the gameplay. Will be playing Infinite Wealth as it has different gameplay that I actually like
Never played any of them but given it's on Gamepass I'll give it a try.
Aything made in "Asianesque" style is not for me so: No and No
@Tr3mm0r
"Asianesque"... sheesh pal....why do you click? What is your end game here? You want to erase anime, and games that look like they are from Asia. Quit clicking on articles about this kind of content and go read about Call of Duty. I hear that in those games you may be able to go to foreign countries and kill locals, and that sounds like fun for you.
I was going to wait but saw it was on PC GamePass. I thought we were not getting it (only console)
I'll try it out this weekend.
But Alan Wake 2 and Tales of Arise - Beyond the Dawn is all I have time for right now.
I do plan on getting round to this, haven't played Like a Dragon yet but keen to get around to them eventually. I actually preferred the spin off Judgement series but both are top tier IMO.
@MikeOrator I respond to such news simply because i am fed with those. I have no issue if You like those. If i could filter that stuff out you wouldn't see my comments. What is wrong with having options?
Your "sheesh" was kinda racist.
@Tr3mm0r
explain to me how "sheesh" is racist and calling for a ban on Asian content is not...Jeeze, jeepers, and holy moly
My favourite game series by far. Pre-ordered as soon as it became available. Spent 3 hours playing koi koi as soon as I got to Yokohama and now I've found the Mahjong parlour, I won't be progressing the main story for a while.
