It may not be the Prince of Persia revival that some fans wanted, but Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown seems to be kicking 2024's release schedule off with a bit of a bang. The action-platformer's been given high review scores across the board, and we want to know if you're sold on this new-look adventure.
"Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown puts its best foot forward with rewarding and satisfying gameplay at its core," is what we wrote in our own review. "Combining the series' 2D past with the time-bending powers from later games, this Metroidvania is a brilliant blend that brings the franchise back in a fresh new way," we concluded, awarding the game an impressive 8/10.
So, are you playing Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown? Or perhaps you're saving your money for all the other games coming out over the next couple of months? Whatever your plans, vote in our poll, and then explain yourself in the comments section below.

Nah not for me, I want to get more comfortable with not owning Ubisoft games.
I haven’t played it yet but have bought it because I have some time off next week and fancy something fresh. Looking forward to giving it a go it looks awesome.
I will certainly be playing at some point but not right now, what with my backlog. I’m guessing around 2027ish!
Just after I finish TLOU Part 2 (again), given it’s a Ubisoft game it’ll be on sale in just a couple of weeks.
Way too many games in Q1. This will be on deep discount later in the year so I don't mind waiting.
I played the demo, it reminded of the OG prince of persia released in the late 1980's, not a fan, too many traps . May pick it up when it's on sale under £20 . I still hope they remaster the sands of time. Also ubisoft have shot themselves in the foot by suggesting subscription models -clearly profit greedy. I personally don't subscribe to subscription models , think it's ruining the gaming industry
Playing it now and it is a lot of fun! I can see why it reviewed well overall. It is something which can be completed in 25 hours which is very decent. This is the perfect pallet cleanser for Like a Dragon next week/P3R week after. Well worth the purchase.
Where’s the “I was going to buy it after reading the reviews but then saw the game ownership comments by Ubisoft and decided not to.” option?
PoP was interesting in the late 80s. Most people don’t care and possibly base it more on the movie than the old platformer.
The PS2 trilogy hold a special place in my heart, I remember watching my older brother play them when I was younger.
I may pick this up in the future when it's on sale after I finish Cyberpunk and Infinite Wealth.
Nah, platformers are not my type of game! Even though it looks cool and fun, I will pass on this one.
no if i want to play a metroidvenia I'll play Ori
I pld the original PoP on an 286 with monochrome display and enjoyed most of the newer PS2 titles. The demo was pretty cool on this one, unfortunatly I think it's too expensive atm and I'm just on my 2nd Cyberpunk run But will play it in the future
Yakuza Tuesday, Persona a couple of weeks later, final fantasy 7 late feb....yeah, this one will have to wait. I do want to play it at some point though!
@colonelkilgore lol I think you forgot to calculate GTA:6 in your backlog so I’d push it back a couple more years to 2029 😜
@WolfyTn aye you could be right… 2028 it is 😁
I enjoyed the demo so I bought the deluxe edition to give me something to play over my three-day work weekend. I'm currently on the final boss and I must say I've enjoyed it far more than I thought I would. I don't even usually like Metroidvanias, but this one has been an unexpected bit of fun. This is the very rare Ubisoft game that gets my stamp of approval.
Made by the Rayman Legends team, of course I bought it. The IP has never really spoken to me but this team has and they said to buy it, so go buy it.
I enjoyed the demo but I wont have the time to play. Infinite Wealth is out at the end of the month, thatl take me up to Rebirth in Feb and that will take me to Rise of the Ronin in March lol
@Grimwood I agree Ori is great but why limit yourself to one metroidvania! Do you do that with other genres? If you're not feeling the lost crown that's obviously fine, just seems like a weird comment
@Llamageddon They will only ever play 8 games, one from each genre. Why bother with anything else?
I don't buy games from companies who think I should just get use to not owning the games I play.
Was gonna buy but like Ubisoft said, why pay for your games just wait till they go on a subscription service, so that is precisley what I am going to do, considering pretty much every other Ubi game is available that way.
@Rob_230 Not that it affects your point, but Like a Dragon is out on the 26th!
As pointed out by others, this is Ubisoft and will be at a hard discount sooner rather than later. No rush to play it now.
If/When it comes to PS Plus Extra it will be a good option too, else when it goes into a $10 price for Switch, my go to console for Metroidvanias due to the handheld option.
I'm playing it on ubi plus ,and the price point of this game is terrible.
I just need the PS2 trilogy. Don't need remakes, sequels, or spinoffs.
@JohntheRaptor The PS2 trilogy were sequesl/spinoffs...
My copy is late unfortunately
It actually looks really cool but considering there is Yakuza, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Persona 3 reload, Tomb Raider Remastered, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth in just the next 6 to 7 weeks its a difficult sell.
@Bentleyma haha thats disapointing! Though it does give me time to finish Persona 5 Tactica first 🙂
Played the demo and absolutely loved it! But, I just bought Jedi: Survivor and am currently playing through Horizon: Forbidden West (amazing by the way!). Do think I’ll play PoP eventually though.
It's a game I want to get around to but there's other stuff I want to play more, so I'll end up picking it up for a fiver in 6 months.
@dBackLash worst mistake you ever make, the game is fire
The demo was pretty stellar, in my opinion. I didn’t have much interest in the game until the demo, but it felt exactly like what I would’ve wanted out of Prince of Persia in 2024. It was nostalgic without being pandering and I love that they took the platformer route rather than the 3D route. Needless to say, after the demos and the confident review period, I was ready to buy it last weekend and I can’t wait to play it.
@BrotherFilmriss Your avatar proves those 286 claims! That era was my entry to the gaming world… good times!
I want to get it but I have Final Fantasy XVI, Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition, Lords of the Fallen, and Octopath Traveler II to get through before Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Alone in the Dark release in the coming months.
Believe it or not my last encounter with PoP was on the Amiga/Atari ST!…Downloaded this one last night…
Signed up for Ubisoft+ to play it on XBOX. So far, I'm digging it.
As a Persian, I enjoyed it has Persian voice over and menus ✨️✨️✨️✨️
I have it, but I'm in the middle of Fire Emblem Engage, so it will have to sit on my shelf for a while. Looking forward to it.
I'll most likely pick this up tonight. The Last Of Us replay can wait.
Not yet.
I still have my Ubi+ subscription active. Last month for Avatar and this month for AC: Mirage.
I saw it is available to subscribers. I'll give it a try before my time run outs.
You had me at Metroidvania, but not just yet. I need to actually finish some games first
