Earlier this week, Sony opened up PS5 Pro pre-orders through its PlayStation Direct store, ahead of pre-orders at participating retailers going live on the 10th October. Here in the UK, it took roughly four or five hours for the first wave of standard PS5 Pros to sell out — but the 30th Anniversary edition was gone in just a couple of minutes.
It's been a similar story with pre-orders in the US, although Sony seems to be staggering its stock across both regions. This means that pre-orders are being taken in waves, as mentioned, as opposed to the console just selling out completely from day one.
Still, speed clearly counts if you're looking to buy a PS5 Pro, and so we're just wondering... Have you managed to snag a pre-order?
It's an interesting question, because most Push Square readers were fully against snapping one up — especially once the $700 / £700 price point had been announced.
Has your opinion of the PS5 Pro changed since then? Vote in our poll, and then attempt to explain yourself in the comments section below.
Have you pre-ordered a PS5 Pro? (6,041 votes)
- Believe it or not, I managed to get the 30th Anniversary edition
- Yes, I pre-ordered the standard PS5 Pro
- Nah, I'm waiting until it's available at other retailers
- Nope, but I plan on buying one post-launch
- No, I don't want a PS5 Pro

I got the Pro. I didn't get the anniversary bundle, I didn't expect to, but I got the controller which is what I was more interested in anyway.
I got it, but mainly because I wanted a 2nd PS5. So might as well pay $250 more for the pro. Excited to see Rebirth and other existing and future games on it.
Eh. Waiting on the 6 at this point. Granted I will likely go PC so long as Sony supports the platform.
Yep.
Got one on Smyth's last night. The hype is real now.
Looks like it's still in stock there too if anyone in Ireland wants to go for it.
Yep managed to pre order the ps5 pro, wasn't that interested in anniversary edition tbh
Only reason I would have bought one is for the improvements to psvr2.....but the psvr2 wasn't that good imo and quickly sold it after launch so have no need for a pro now
Got one too. Though as it's a pre order, it gives me time to decide if it will be worth to me at launch as we get more info.
My biggest issue is that all of the top tier games that are being upgraded, they happen to be the only games that I own on disc. So I have to order the disc drive. However, I am not ordering the disc drive until I am fully committed to following through with the purchase, as I have the original ps5 with disc drive, so a spare drive is of no benefit to me.
I pre-ordered this morning, I find it funny in a way that people are complaining about having to pay $700 for the PS5 Pro when in my country, even buying from Amazon (the official PlayStation store here), I had to pay $1290. The standard PS5 with disc here costs around $700 here.
nah that moneys better off going towards my PC that’s already a pro. i’m good with my current PS5 and am still waiting for it to reach its full potential .
Hell no I don't have that kind of dough 😅
Surprisingly evenly split.
Nope, got more sense than money
For all the "no way im paying that" comments, the yes i preordered percentage is the highest, haha knew that would happen 🤣
Na, let the marks fight over them.
I'll wait for the PS6.
@Yousef- this is a PlayStation fan site, that it's evenly split is actually surprising. I thought the amount that would have bought it would be much higher
Regular PS5 PRO was "sold out" only for 3-4 hours. It is available from yesterday afternoon without issues.
I will buy it. Probably near to Launch date. So many games I could play has PRO Enhanced mark. So no point of waiting longer. I would like to get 30th anniversary, but I am not buying it 2nd hand.
@Blaze215 I mean, even for a fan site, not everyone will want it. Not everyone wanted the PS4 Pro either.
The attitude has definitely changed compared to when the system was announced.
I would have bought the 30th anniversary bundle because it was sick. But since I missed out, I don't see a need for the Pro.
I paid $1700 for my PS5 Pro...and Series X Pro...and PS6....and NextBox.
So, no, I won't be getting a Pro at all.
I have to admit that I was tempted. I had a look on the PlayStation Direct website to see if they were still in stock, which they were. I even added it to my cart, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy one.
People are so judgmental on here lately. Calling someone a mark or without sense is hilarious.
One for me then my wife slapped one on her account too. Then a few of our friends have ordered some today.
Wanted the 30th edition Portal, PS5 Pro etc, but was way behind the curve on that one.
Absolutely adore how ugly that grey was back when I had a PS1. Odd I know, I like a lot of ugly things, like comments sections for example.
I caved and bought the Pro. I've had the base model since launch so I'm selling that to a mate for £300 and figure I'll more than get use out of the £500 I pay to upgrade for the Pro over the next 3-4 years until the PS6 drops.
Can't help feeling a little dirty because it should never have been this price without a disc drive and stand so I totally understand those who don't buy it. Hopefully Playstation can reward my custom over the second half of this generation with some absolute bangers.
It sold out twice for a fee hours each in UK for the standard.
I wanted 30th console, but was sold out by the time I got in. Happy with the standard Pro and 30th Dualsense to get instead 🙌🏻
Haters gunna hate.
There's no option for I want one but not at that price
@get2sammyb Sure not everyone but you would assume this site will have a definite bias to purchasing one more than somewhere else a poll was created.
Not sure anyone has changed their mind since it was announced but sure maybe the attitude has changed slightly.
Don't think there's a need to be quick to get one really, from what I've seen it's available everywhere. Most definitely will not be getting one myself. Will wait for the ps6 pro before I buy any more hardware from Sony, even then they will need to impress me next generation or I'll skip it altogether.
I'm tempted but just can't justify it at the moment. Based on reviews and my circumstances, I may look to get one next year
Not gonna lie, I’m getting serious FOMO with this one. Still don’t know how necessary it is. I hate this!
I want to trade my ps5 for the pro so waiting to see if Amazon or GameStop offer trade in deals...
"It's been a similar story with pre-orders in the US..."
PS Direct has had PS5 Pros in stock all day yesterday and you can buy one right now without being put in queue. Only the 30th Anniversary edition but Sony seemed to have learned its lesson and has enough consoles on offer this time.
Nope. Cozzie livvs if nothing else.
Pre-ordered PS5 Pro, excited to try it out. I just checked, and pre-orders are still open (US)...Anniversary one is sold out but PS5 Pro still available.
Na, the next console I'm buying will be the Switch 2. Which will have worse specs than the base PS5 😄
Naa.... I did have a passing interested in one until they revealed the price.
Since then I've watched several of these side by side comparison videos and I'm honestly not just saying this to be bitter but I can barely tell any difference.
Does it make the games look a bit better? Yes it probably does..... under a forensic microscope
Is it enough to justify me spending £700 (£800 if I want a disc drive).... No thanks I'm quite happy with my OG PS5 (complete with integrated disc drive)
@jrt87 to be fair to pushsquare, it did sell out in the later afternoon. I say this because I couldn't get one. They've since (presumably) made more stock available
No and i won't get one. Ask this question to people in Brazil, where this console is costing a staggering 7K right now lol this is just the console without the detachable disc drive, that is costing 600 bucks (probably more now)
By far one of the most expensive consoles I've ever seen in Brazil
If anything, most people here will probably start buying PS4s (the ones that are left) or even build PCs (although they'll probably be weaker than a base PS5). Besides, the Pro already has a 2020 CPU with only 10% boost. I'm not sure that this will be enough to carry this console until 2027, especially in CPU bound games. Obviously we'll see improvements in performance with recent games, but i believe that in 2 years performance won't be as good as now
My next console will be a PS6 and that's it
Yes I did, and I'm looking forward to getting it.
I just don't see the value in the thing. I own a bunch of physical copies of games that would be useless without the disc drive and I do not believe a slightly crispier image is worth close to 1000€, if I also want to continue to be able to play those games.
Thing is hella overpriced and beyond content creators and people like the pushsquare staff, who kind of.."have to" be able to report on how the thing is, it doesn't seem like something for regular customers.
Well, besides those with too much money and too little gray matter, maybe. Legitimately think you have to be a bit of a dumbo to support that insanity.
@Medic_alert I would just appreciate not having to see people commenting on how much of a “dumbo” someone is or having more money than sense.
I’m so tired of people getting insulting over an object they either can’t afford or don’t wish to purchase.
I can’t afford a Lambo but I’m not going to insult someone who buys one.
And agreed with what you stated.
D1! Can't wait to see UE5 games improvements!
@Medic_alert after watching some side by side comparisons the frame rate improvements sold me on it, plus I have a friend who can't afford a regular PS5 so I am gifting mine to them. Originally I wasn't planning to get it but decided I earned a little splurge for once
@Frmknst Yes, we are the reason a load of men and a small amount of women have made decisions based on DRM, licensing, disc drives, PS Plus requirements, censorship, pricing structures, supply chain agreements, retail agreements, remasters, project cancellations and so forth.
I’ve spent a few hundred quid on equipment from a multi-billion pound company and they’ve decided to make poor decisions both prior to my purchase and following on from it.
All based on my purchase.
Sony has failed with its fans for years for many, many reasons, and it started long before the PS5 Pro, and long before the PS4 Pro.
Take it you were around for the PS3 release?
Not a chance!
IF I had the money, they should've put an ALREADY PAIRED disc drive in it in order to make it viable.
@TheElectroFunky @Medic_alert
Personally I'd never refer to anyone as a Dumbo for buying one, people are free to spend their hard-earned money on whatever they wish. I've always been one for having to have the latest technology myself but I do honestly think that they've priced it too high this time.
I get that people will say it's an enthusiasts model and not necessarily for everyone, etc etc, but it genuinely does terrify me how much they're going to want to charge us for the PS6 which will obviously have even higher specs when the time comes.
If I remember correctly the standard PS4 launched at £350 ish..... a few years later the PS4 Pro released at around £399 and then a few more years later the PS5 released for £450. A reasonable and steady increase I think we can all agree.
This just seems like a massive jump when comparing to previous models and I'm just worried that it sets a bad president for the future.
I think given the previous trend, most people were probably expecting the PS5 Pro to be around £550 (£600 at a push)
But £700 is a step too far for many people
Can't afford it and even if I could wouldn't waste money on it.
Where's the "nope, it's too expensive" poll option?
I’m waiting to see what MHWilds runs like on standard/pro.
I’m interested, I’d just do a couple of days overtime. Then besides a few hours of my time I’d be no worse off.
@DualWielding Id wait for december and sell it yourself. You probably going to get more money that way.
57% want one or have already ordered one. Score one for the 'pointless upgrade'
I guess they are... right on track 😛😛
Preordered. Since i no longer dabble in the intricacies of PC gaming, i might as well have the best console on market. Probably wouldnt do it it i didnt have OLED TV tho.
The disc drive sucks, but vast majority of my games are digital anyway so ill just rebuy the ones i have on disc and sell them with my old playstation.
@Member_the_game Absolutely agree, I do feel the price as a console is a little high.
Though having built PC’s over time it’s not as high as it could have been. I mean there’s a company here in Staffordshire I worked for back when I was in college OCUK, they make a large portion of their money off PC users making liquid going around that’s dyed look fancy.
Obviously there’s more to it than that, but you get the sentiment.
Same with the lack of disc drive, I think one should have been included, but to then see my friend squirm when defending why he wasn’t sad to see CD’s go from PC gaming was quite interesting.
With the SSD alone I’m talking another £100 on a PS5 Digital Price, to match the 2TB etc. Then I have a 90 inch TV so I know it’s daft but even a resolution upscalled just a bit further makes a big difference.
I work with 3D assets and editing all day, then my missus is a graphic designer, so all we do is analyse pixels each day, so it’s nice to sometimes just know I’m getting the best, that PlayStation can offer.
But that’s part of my reasoning, it won’t match everyone else’s and I certainly agree it’s pricey and too much for many to consider it.
To me it’s worth it, I mean my 4090 was a stupid decision to people on the internet, yet it’s only used for my work and makes me a living that I could have only dreamt of a few years back.
So is a 4090 a stupid price to me? Absolutely, I can’t imagine anyone wishing to pay for that for a gaming GPU.
But for me who makes money off it every day, absolutely.
Everything is going up in price, even down to the metals used to make electronics, nothing is going to get cheaper. So we either need people’s wages to match prices of items, or a lot of hobbies will be out of reach for people in a few decades.
But yes, totally agree with you, that’s my issue with the insults flung on here by some. It’s not the case I don’t see their points, it’s just everyone can justify buying an item another won’t be able to justify. It doesn’t make either person wrong.
I mean some would say I’m complicit in making Nvidia think they can charge gamers whatever they wish, yet I literally just bought their highest tier card for work.
To sum up, whether it’s my work or personal time, I don’t wish to hear of someone saying I should buy a less than experience because they are happy with less than when they could have more.
If I want more, then my buying more shouldn’t make those happy with less unhappy.
Sorry for the length and happy gaming! Off to play some Call of Duty now because got to live up to the dumbo reputation that proceeds me. 😂
Hell no. My original PS5 is still working really well and I really don't see any reason to upgrade for a few minor differences.
I don't think I can in my country yet.
Thanks for asking
Nah, I'd rather pump funds that high into upgrading my PC so that the base PS5 can be my last PlayStation ever.
Naw. This gen has been a HUGE disappointment, and performance had nothing to do with it.
Pre-ordered the standard Pro (USA), but not 100% sure if I’ll keep the order or cancel. We have some time to think about it… Hoping to see a few more games pop up on the list, like Returnal, Resident Evil, and Armored Core VI
@ear_wig Good shout on Returnal!
@Ravix Loving your Mark Cerny meme posts by the way, really made me laugh recently. So, thank you! 😂
Nope , i ve built a very powerful PC so if i feel the need the need to experience a game at its maximum settings i ll do it there.
That said, if sony offers a service where they take in your old PS5 for a price cut on the pro , i ll consider it.
Not a chance. Will wait for the 6.
To think we were promised high framerates and resolutions with the base ps5 which clearly was lies means i wont be upgrading to something that the ps5 should have been in the first place.
Pre-ordered the regular version but currently can't find a disc drive that isn't listed at least 50% over MSRP (some are way more than that).
Luckily there's still time.
@Voltan If it gets too bad where you are in the world, I don’t mind sending one at normal RRP if push comes to shove buddy. So either way making sure you get that drive! Either way, enjoy!
Waiting for PS6...
I was going on to Direct just to try to get the 30th Edge controller, but things changed when I got onto Sony Direct website.
I can still hardly believe it, but my screen refreshed about 5 minutes after go time and right in front of me was the 30th Pro Bundle showing add to cart. I thought it must be a glitch but it let me add to cart, fill in all my info, and then complete the sale.
Having said that, until it's in my hands Im going to keep my excitement down. Im from the 90s so I love the gray theme on my consoles and at least one of these bundles did not go into scalpers hands. Fingers crossed delivery goes smoothly.
I am having somewhat of an internal struggle at the moment. Do I keep it sealed as a collectors item or just use it as I would any Pro (I do take care of my electronics).
@Medic_alert yeah I am hoping some VR games get a solid boost too. I know the two RE games and NMS are listed but it remains to be seen if this applies to the VR modes as well
If it's silent like the base one, if it doesn't consume too much energy and if increases significantly the experience with PSVR2 games, I'll buy it.
@Frmknst You really need the check yourself with this attitude. If we act/speak like this here this website’s comment section will become IGN. People have different experiences and wants/desires out of gaming. Your single point of view is just that… your single point of view.
Man I really wanted that 30th anniversary dualsense but s**t out of luck by the looks of it 😢
@Majin_Deicide
Those suckers paying to enjoy their hobby in the best way available. What looooosers amirite?
If I'm spending $700 then it's for an OLED Steam Deck. Not a "Pro" console I have to bust out the magnifying glass for in order to see any major difference. And that's coming from someone who bought BOTH the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. Those felt worth the upgrade, ESPECIALLY the Xbox.
Devs still have yet to fully harness the base PS5 due to having to having to also make sure the games run on the ancient PS4. We don't need the Pro model, Sony just needs to let the PS4 die already and let the PS5 REALLY shine.
Nope, I’m going to wait a few months to get one. Would have liked the 30th pro bundle but I don’t think it was made available where I live.
@Frmknst
Proud to ruin your day. Hope to do it again in the future.
power supply problem with current ps5....so it was a no brainer.
I didn't buy the PS4 Pro and just went straight to the PS5 from base PS4 and I'm probably going to do the same thing with the PS5 Pro here.
@SoCalCat Play that thing! Give it the life it deserves! Such a gorgeous device—enjoy!
@Medic_alert
I think the problem is how its been presented so far. The 9mins from Cerny was OK but was very short and didnt give much detail on specs (I really thought it was a waste of his time given how good his longer and more detailed PS5 20 min video was), and the games showreel was very underwhelming on this and the SoP.
I have also seen a number of comparisons of PS5 graphics modes with PRO Performance modes, which is obviously not the (best) way to sell its ability.
I watched the DF hour long video the other night and on the occasions they compared the PRO performance modes with PS5 performance modes (they also did various other comparisons) the difference was very noticeable - like seeing Series S and X side by side.
There was also an interesting piece on playstation.com blog which game some details for certain devs/games, which tells a slightly different story than the graphics mode at 60fps in some cases (eg 1 game was having a >60fps mode added, 80 i think but i cant remember all the details). Unfortunately, this should really have been presented on Video by Sony.
When you find decent footage, the Pro is certainly impressive to very impressive, even on early games which have just had Pro modes patched in, but Sony really have been bad at marketing it.
PSSR may be only in its infancy, but DF also seemed very impressed by it.
I will just say though (in addition to poor marketing) that I also think we are getting some (not much, but loud) negative feedback from a small minority of people who are either Xbox fanboys, or cant/dont want to spend the money on a Pro.
I pre ordered mine yesterday.
With so much talk about the PS6 already, I'm surprised some people would even consider the PS5 pro that will have an expiration date of 3 years tops as Sony moves all studios to fully work on the PS6 by 2026 with the system releasing a year and half later.
@Rich33 Agreed, the marketing has been horrendous, and the use of Mark Cerny was almost laughable.
I’m literally in the demographic who not only want to hear him speak in technical detail, I understand him. Yet I got nothing, other than the blog you mentioned which I found on a whim after searching for a Dualsense charger on Google, and of course the DF discussion/s.
Which I will say they use a lot more guess work than the average layman knows. They’re not always right on the mark of “this is how they did it”.
But that aside, it’s better than nothing, and Sony gave people next to nothing.
Ah well, enjoy your Pro and make the most of it, it’ll last many a person through part of the PS6 lifecycle no doubt.
@TheElectroFunky I'm in the EU (Poland, specifically) so I'm sure they'll pop up eventually
Couldn't be arsed with it, but for a different reason than most - my 11xx series PS5 is almost completely silent due to its NMB fan.
My 10xx launch model had the Nidec fan with the unsavoury "UFO wobble" sound. Drove me absolutely bananas (hence I bought a second console).
So until such time I can verify the Pro is as close to silent as possible, I'll stick with my 11xx model (and I mostly play Street Fighter 6 on it anyways - even if there is a Pro upgrade it'd probably be negligible).
@Member_the_game
I agree with a lot of what you have said, but i also think that we are now seeing prices not coming down with time like they used to - which has nothing to do with Sony as you see it across the board.
In regards to PS6, I have read a lot of 'wait for PS6' comments (im not talking about what you have said as i found that very sensible). I think some will be very disappointed when it either launches a lot later than people expect it to, in order to get it low enough in manufacture price, or it launches in say 3yrs time but is either a) not much more powerful than PS5 Pro or b) costs about the same.
Im not really sure there is a right answer for Sony here that wont annoy a large number of people.
I also wonder if part of the price is that with less profit from games, we are not seeing the start of an end to heavily subsidised hardware, but time will tell.
I wasn't going to but in the end, pre-ordered one. Still a bit on the fence and may cancel, depends on what I hear about any VR improvements between now and launch. Yes, it's expensive but I work damn hard so why the hell not.
Funny how some wouldn't bat an eyelid at spending £700 on an iPhone every year but froth at the mouth at the thought of people spending that on a console they'd keep for years. People are weird.
I could have gotten it but I kept asking myself why would I gain with this? Playing the same games I’ve played several times with slightly cleaner visuals?
And tbf the improvements described so far seem really meh as all they’re doing is lowering the native resolution to achieve higher framerates and hope PSSR makes up for the visual difference.
There’s not a single justification to get it right now, in just some months it’ll be on sale and there will be more games that take advantage of it (hopefully).
I got one. Wanted an anniversary but bots saw to that!. Currently on eBay one is £4.300 3 bids
@TheElectroFunky
Thank you, i hope you enjoy yours too.
Im in the 'I know more than some, but less than others' category. I understood most of what he said on the 20min PS5 presentation, and looked up what I didnt! It was a big disappointment he didnt even detail CPU/GPU clock speeds, or even mention GPU Tflops (i know we have rumours) - i dont even think they included the 2TB SSD on the video! I think it was made all the worse considering the Pro's target audience.
Thank goodness for the DF video, which i thought was very good given as you say the guesswork involved.
@Jrs1 not anymore XD
@IOI not slightly better. People are being reductive for no reason. What do you gain from reducing the difference in capability?
Preordered the Pro and the 30th anniversary DualSense
Normally am the first inline to buy the upgrade console but still I truly do not see the actual point.
The price tag is way to high for really minimal gain.
I'll get one once the price comes down.
But let's be honest the differences are only night and day on games in which the developers have been lacking with optimization.
I mostly use my ps5 for exclusives and my PC with gforce now, which is a game changer aslong as you have the Internet connection.
Plus I'm playing games. I'm not sat looking at a single frame to check out the 4k texture on leaves.
I'd of got one if the price was just above the ps5 but I can't justify the jump in price for it.
@frankmcma It'll likely be easy to pre-order and then find after launch. Though popular, this isn't the PS6.
I suspect Sony has plenty of these consoles ready in anticipation of high demand.
@Major_Player
Three years is a long time, to me. I am happy to enjoy the best fidelity and frame rate possible for those three years, then upgrade again.
I am old though and expect to die at any moment, so that's just me hedging my bets.
Pre ordered a Pro. Sold my original PS5 to pay most of it as my wife has a slim model with a disc drive. I don't regret the decision one bit.
I want to buy it from Target for that 5% off! It isn't much, but it covers 2/3 of sales tax, which is good for me.
Just bought a PS5 this year, so no way on the pro. Passed on the upgraded PS4 as well. Wasn’t bothered at all by the performance of FFVII Rebirth (stunning) and usually scroll by anything involving Digital Foundry.
@Medic_alert
The requirement of a PSN account and the limit of 1 per user definitely helped prevent scalping.
There should be another option for 'Of course I WANT one, but I won't be buying one'.
I'd love if my PS5 was an extra bit beefier, but I'm not buying a second PS5, let alone one that costs $700.
Sheeple still willing to give Sony that Concord tax
Zero interest in the PS5 Pro.
No. I looked and the standard PS5 Pro was available, but at this point I have completed all of the games I am interested in already, and don’t feel that a less-blurry second play through of FF7 Rebirth is worth $700+.
That money will be much better spent on a Switch 2, gaming PC, or a down payment on a sports car. Been eyeing a Toyota GR86 for some real life fun.
Sell outs. Thanks for encouraging higher console prices in the future
Nope. Waiting for the 6. And in the meantime I have a high-end gaming PC, so just waiting for the 5090.
Nah, my PS5 is fine. If I cared that much about power I'd be a PC gamer lol.
Preordered Pro and will buy 30th anniversary plates when available.
@chiliPismysig so why did you buy a ps5 when ps4 was available?
I’d consider buying one, if one of the benefits was that it ran quieter!
I’ve been using my PS5 more recently and the noise it makes drives me mental. Have to play with headphones on to cancel it out.
Anything in the marketing material about decibel levels?
@TheElectroFunky
Please don't feel you need to apologize for a lengthy reply 😂
It actually makes a refreshing change to get a sensible and polite reply rather than it turning into a slanging match / game of one upmanship.
It's nice to know you agree with the points I made
Same goes to you @Medic_alert
@Rich33
You could well be right in that the PS6 may well be further away than people think.
I honestly believe that we've almost reached a ceiling in terms of how good they can make the games look, of course there will always be improvements but they will never be night and day differences like they used to be when buying a new console.
I hope you enjoy your purchase anyway, my next purchase will be whatever Nintendo offers up next year (by the looks of it a more powerful Switch)
In the meantime I'm quite happy to slum it (joke) with my day one PS5 until the PS6 launches.
Even then I'll probably be in no major rush as I'm fairly confident that we'll see the vast majority of PS6 games released as cross gen on PS5 as well (for a good few years at least)
I like all the content creators who shat on the thing and told people not to buy it talking about there getting a review unit and they pre ordered one like man these some slimy *****
Got the controller for the anniversary. With the disc drive and stand this thing cost me way more than 700. But regardless I'm saving some games for this system. Star wars craplaws, DD2, rebirth (3rd playthrough), and I'm curious to see how wukong and BG3 will operate on this.
This is a joke, right? This is a joke.
This is from someone who bought the PS4 PRO and PS VR2.
Not interested.
Got my PS5 for roughly £230 when you include the money I made from trading in my PS4.
More than enough
Nope didn't preorder, Happy with my original PS5
@Medic_alert I’ve owned two PS5s, one at launch and the most recent bought in February of this year. Both have been obnoxiously loud compared to my Xbox Series X.
I play a lot of games digitally as well, no disc.
I don’t believe I’ve been that unlucky, twice. It’s a design flaw as far as I’m concerned.
@J_e_f_f__D I have a ps4 pro actually. Learned my lesson.
As someone once said in the east end of London “ah yew avin a laff, mate?”
No, I will skip it, and go straight to the PS6.
I will wait until the PS6 in a few years. They will probably stop making games for the PS4 by then. I'll use my money for a Switch 2 in the meantime. Seems like Sony rush out their Pro consoles a few months before the Switch and Switch 2. That combo this time is going to be approaching double the price of the PS4 Pro plus Switch combo.
No luck for me for the 30th anniversary dualsense. All slot is fully booked in gaming shop here. Ughh.
Having binned of my Xbox Series X as it was just a fancy door stop that plays Halo I'm back on my PlayStation 4 Pro looking to upgrade.
I really like the Pro and I appreciate the tech that's gone into it but economically I feel the Standard Slim will be enough for me
@EddieGallad Yeah, 700$ is nothing compared to swedish price for Pro 10.495 Swedish Crown that equals 1014$.
The 30th Anniversary Pro was 14.495 swedish crown ~ 1436$.
The pro is exactly double the price that I paid for my OG PS5 on releasedate here in Sweden. Now they upped the price on PS5 slim over the last months and they really increased the slimprice ALOT the day before Pro preorders started. Anything to make that Pro price see more reasonable huh Sony?!
@Eleventy8 my OG ps5 is almost quite with no fan sound. Perhaps yours is having a flaw
@Eleventy8 I haven't purchased a PS5 yet but I know from owning a Series X and Series S both are whisper quiet apart from Gears 5 on Series S did get mildly audible but then again I' still have a PS4 Pro that drowns out everything lol
@amatmulisha @Eleventy8 Same here. Using my OG PS5 alot! Still completely quiet, unless you put the ear towards the console plate of course, then you hear a soft hum from the fan.
I wanted the anniversary bundle, but it was sold out, so I settled for the Pro. I put off playing many of the games with compramised performance modes like Rebirth and Alan Wake. Looking forward it!
For 700 quid it can get knotted.
No I didn't, it's nothing more than a cash grab by Sony aimed at the lower IQ members of society who seem to fall for it every single time
@Danbottomburp grow up and get a job.
@Eleventy8 nope, my ps5 has a non-existent sound.
Literally first Sony console I haven't bought at launch going all the way back to picking up a PS1 from HMV. I just cannot find value in it because I'm at the point where my PC is more powerful than the pro and there just isn't enough exclusive and compelling content to warrant the purchase.
@Eleventy8 ps5 Is an extremely silent console. You have a flawed one or you are keeping it in the wrong spot.
@HRdepartment you are welcome.
Delighted to get one. I could have checked out an anniversary one and got confused that the site hadnt remembered my address. In a panic I took it out of my basket and tried a pro. I figured out that I simoly needed my address to check out, simple auto fill, but by tgen Id missed the anniversary.
I was a little gutted so I went back and got a 30th anniversary pad in addition to the pro. I pretty much have one of every colour now except black
How does a poll when announced that the majority said the exact opposite of wanting a pro.
Turns out it's nearly half n half on pre orders and not.
Where did all the pre order people come from?
Hahahaha
@Danbottomburp "aimed at the lower IQ members"
cheapshot mate, Id obliterate you in any IQ test.
Its only low IQ trolls who try and insult people in such childish way, and your name says everything we need to know.
This is a product aimed at the 10% of us that care, you could simply say it doesnt offer any value for you and make an adult post instead of being so objectonable. Or are you afraid of intelligent discourse? Be better, join in properly.
@Bez87 Theres a certain fervour of attack that surrounds many new announcements on the net, and particularly here on Push.
It means people with more positive thoughts and feelings dont want to be challenged by those whos demeanor is clearly not freindly to their position and they wont post.
Dont fall into the trap of thinking the shouty haters genuinely represent the majority, they very often dont.
"No, I don't want a PS5 Pro", especially not at that insulting price and without a disc drive
There isn’t a poll option for the undecideds. I’m still unsure!
@Bez87 After the initial knee-jerk backlash to the pricing, the internet sentiment has rapidly softened to the Professional thanks to positive coverage from Digital Foundry and others. I’ve observed the same about-turn in public opinion on Reddit too. Interesting how quickly mass opinions can shift!
@zancoooo of course, it’s my fault, twice. Should have considered that.
Pro is unnecessary and I am fine (content) with my ps5
I'll preorder it at my local videogame shop, on October, when I'll be able to. They will surely make an offer to buy back my original PS5 at a great price - it's the only way for me to afford such an amount for a new console.
@Member_the_game
I cant really add very much as I agree with you, and its probably a very good thing that Sony seem to have considered PS5 / PS6 Back compatability as a key requirement so gone with AMD again (and created PSSR to negate the disadvantage with this choice).
But I will say thank you, and I hope you enjoy your next purchase.
Got my Pro. Would’ve loved the 30th Anniversary. No idea how 53 of you guys managed it (currently), but congratulations! Very lucky.
Removed - offensive remarks
@Elitepatriot However if sony is smart they will release non-numbered 30th-anniversary consoles and maybe, just maybe I will buy one.
Yes got one
I’ll put the old one upstairs
I'll pass on the PS5 Pro.
I felt like I was missing out last generation when the PS4 Pro was released whilst I had a PS4, so I got a PS4 Pro 2 years after release.
This time around, there's no FOMO and I'm more than happy with my PS5 (which I'm lucky to have to be honest, considering my circumstances).
Nah didn't want one, I'll spend that money on games instead no doubt.
I was really looking forward to this device, I really was.. but Sony again was able to surprise in the negative way! Double the price of the original one for what it offers, and targeting at launch improvements only on past games that many already played.
People keep complaining of 700$ before tax in US, but in Europe is a f***ing 800€ / 874$ !! Sony is really spitting on our faces..
I personally don't tend to replay games, usually I finished them and move on to the next, want always new games and experiences..
At launch I don't see any reason to rush for this as simply there is not even a handful of new upcoming 1st party games showing how they benefit BIG from the PS5 pro.
For this price point they better have more options as well, other than mixed fidelity / perf modes. I was hoping for performance modes with VRR unlocked frames higher than 60, or fidelity modes with significant improved visuals at 60
If eventually in the future Sony will reveal several 1st party games with meaningful improvements against the based console I might consider, but right now is totally pointless. Even if it would cost 500€ I would probably left it there on living room on the dust like my current is because there is no new 1st party games to play.
For all other non PS studios /exclusive games I playing them on my high end PC
No Pro for me. Unless my current PS5 dies. But still...That price pays my rent and three weeks of groceries!
Close to £800 for a machine that let's you play your old games... again. Oh, and it plays full price remasters of your old games too. Sony are really treating their customers well this gen.
Nah I'm sick of Sony's greed this generation almost £800 for a console that has maybe 2 years service life and a bunch of remasters is a joke, it's clear as well that Sony is pushing to digital games as a way to take even more money from consumers without the option to sell like you can with physical,
Before with like the PS4 pro it made sense as it was a pretty decent leap between the two consoles as the PS4 was underpowered but the difference between the PS5 and Pro is so small and I would bet the difference between the PS5 Pro and PS6 will also be fairly small, to be honest this last year or two my PS5 has been gathering dust due to the lack of 1st party titles, which is even more evident by the onslaught of remasters Sony is doing
@CyborgToaster Right.
For me, it's not so much the $700.00 as it is the value proposition - what you're getting for that $700.00.
Were this the PS6, honestly, I'd preorder it with no hesitation. But, as far as PS5 Pro goes, I have not seen a single piece of footage, screenshot, or side-by-side comparison that made me think 'wow, that's an upgrade.' I thought Cerny's presentation was underwhelming and fell completely flat in this regard.
I'm just not sold as of now.
Nope I’m sticking with my normal PS5.
I ain’t paying £700 and another £100 for a disc drive.
@The_Wailing_Doom Ya, I actually had it and the disc drive sitting ready to preorder and thought, that's a decent chunk of change, if I wait a bit I can get nearly 50$ off through target.
Preordered the base Pro on release day, didn’t even try to go for the 30th since it looked bananas to get it. I do regret not going for the 30th controller however, I’m hoping I can get one on 10/10 cause I do like the controller quite a lot.
I wasn't going to order it but gave in this morning.
I said no to the pro as I’m still playing a lot of PS4 games on my phat 5. I am interested in the pro, but don’t see for me as a must have, like i did with the 4pro.
If I can hold my FOMO in place, I’ll bide my time for the 6pro, assuming it’s backwards compatible with PS4/5 games and has a disc drive option available for it
I was never mad about the price point. I also don't complain about iphone prices - I just don't buy it because I prefer other phones. But I bought the pro because I really liked the concept. That's is.
Did You Pre-Order a PS5 Pro?
No.
No. The games I primarily play aren't graphic intensive games anyways.
I got my 30th Pro and a 30th Portal over here in the US and couldn't be more excited
I can't justify the price. Seriously. I bought the PS2, PS3, PS4, PS4 Pro and PS5 disc drive version, but this is too much for a console.
@JohntheRaptor Lmao it is slightly better, even with FFVII Rebirth which is the most dramatic difference we’ve seen so far it’s literally just a crisper image, which sure I’ll appreciate at first but actually playing it won’t make the experience substantially better.
People are not being “reductive”, it’s just the way it is, visual difference was way more noticeable with PS4 Pro as we went from 1080p to 1440p or 4K, with the PS5 Pro we’re still getting 1440p resolutions or much lower leveraging on PSSR and so far every comparison shows just slightly better visuals not worth the $300 difference in MY opinion, specially when the PS4 Pro was only $100 more than the standard PS4, I’m just stating my own thoughts, if you have the privilege to not care about spending nearly $800 (with disc drive) and not gaining that much from the console itself Sony will be happy to sell it to you.
Considering the results of this poll, it really does show that the haters are in the vocal minority. More than half of the results are people who already have, or plan to, buy the PS5 Pro. And while the results are certainly not a perfect capture of the market overall (with this being a Playstation enthusiast focused website), it likely shows that the PS5 Pro will do just fine for what Sony expects from it in the market.
Didn’t preorder. But just told my wife to get me one for my birthday (Thanksgiving Day). She agreed. Says it’s all I’m getting for the holidays but I’m totally fine with that.
Nah, not interested. It’s a cool product but I’m more than happy with my current PS5. I’ve actually been trying to downsize my collection a bit so I’m fine with waiting for the next big generational leap that’s hopefully more reasonably priced.
Well, it was waste of keyboard strikes with all those articles and comments what mistake this pro is. You will see the sales counts and just wait for Christmas
@Sergo I would predict it sells comparative to the PS4 Pro. It’s a smart move on Sony’s part. As with the Portal, which has been a sales success, people are assuming because they are not the target audience the device is a mistake or failure. This keeps repeating itself.
15 minutes ago I was casually looking in my Steam library to see what games I have already installed. Except Black Myth Wukong, Elden Ring and Red Dead Redemption 2, here's the rest:
What's actually the point of paying 800 Euros for the PS5 Pro ?
@Old-Red @iceclimbersmain Nice to see a few actual gamers snagged one of these! Enjoy!
I’m still waiting for a must have ps5 game, still rocking the ps4 here
I’ll get the pro when it’s about £550ish. Not while it’s £700. ***** that. £700 is a lot considering the little more it does. Even £550 is a ripoff but I mainly want it for PSVR2 improvements
@chiliPismysig Just ordered a 4tb sim for the inside slot to go with the Pro.
@DNortonX so you don't have a problem with the overpriced VR headset, but draw the line on Pro. Mmmmm
Funny how I waited in digital line for over an hour just to buy it yet it’s still available :’))))
@IamJT Exactly!!!
Wow over 50% plan on buying it at some point....
Yes it's a PS site, but also for that same reason I think that many of the voters already have a PS5.
Upgrading seems as dumb as those people who change their Iphone every year.
Upgrading if you already have a PS5 is just not worth it.
But I guess there is a lot of people with money to completely burn apparently.
@NeonMullet hah same, I’ll likely get a pro later in the year, see if there’s any Black Friday deals.
Totally also want a 30th anniversary dualsense but not sure what I’m willing to pay!
Good luck in getting the gear you want!
@Diowine I don’t think it’s dumb if you are enthusiast and gaming is your hobby. Buying a new console once every four years is not a bad investment when you think about the use you get from it. Factor in people with two homes or a cabin or whatever and now you don’t have to pack up and take it with you. Or people who will sell the PS5 for $400 and only have to pay $300 out of pocket, which I’m assuming is a lot of peoples plans. I think in general we are being way too harsh on people’s choice to upgrade. Shoot my PS4 pro is still running in the office I plan on keeping my PS5 pro at least as long.
@IamJT here here sir, I was a bit on the fence but I don't really have any other hobbys gaming is my go to and has been for decades, I work long hours, I can afford it kind of 😂 so why the hell not,I'll be getting a ps6 as well 😂😂
@Shinnok789 I dunno ,you're one person who's bought all of sonys games on pc , so what is the point you're trying to make , why would you by a pro ,what you on about 😂😂 mental
@michaelf 😁 you know you're gonna buy one for yourself at Xmas stop kidding yourself 😂
@Dom_31 what a crap comment.
So if someone doesn’t have physical games, wanted a other PlayStation 5 and has plenty of disposable income to make sure they have the best option to play now and in the future then we don’t have much “grey matter”
I’d argue that people that get online and tell people who make good money how to spend it are the ones lacking “grey matter”
@Frmknst 🙄
@Shalooda Yea I'm 37 and comfortable I will buy what I choose and preordering the newest PS console is the top of my list 🤣 and I will enjoy it!
@IamJT 35 and couldn't have said it better myself.
"No sir, I don't think I have any use for a PS5 Pro" - Mr. Horse
Ha, this is funny. All those other posts and you guys were so adamant you are not getting one and now look at you. Shame.
@NeonMullet yeah they’re about the same price in the uk but I’ve noticed the listing prices have been dropping slightly from what they originally were.
No doubt I’ll cave soon myself 😂
Yep pre-ordered, can't believe i'm spending 700 on a console haha
@Shalooda shush shush shush lol 😂
Could not possibly want one less.
I pre-ordered the 30th anniversary controller at retailer. But that's it. I'm not interested in the PS5 Pro.
@Shalooda Point is simple: most of Sony's first party exclusive games are already on PC, so if someone has a good PC, there's no need to spend 800 Euros on a PS5 Pro... The PC ports are already the best versions graphically speaking - PS5 Pro would bring nothing extra.
And if one also happens to own a PS5, then they're set at least until PS6.
This is just one point of view of many that are possible.
As the saying goes, "to each, his own"
@michaelf 😁 aww but I don't wanna 😂
@Shinnok789 but next year we will start to see what sonys first party devs have been working on and they won't be on pc for at least 2 years , if want to play them at launch you'll need a ps5 if you want to play them at their best you'll need a pro, but like you say to each there own.
So far, in the U.S, (from what I've observed) the PS5 Pro has been continuously available since it was made available for pre-order.
I don't think this console will ever be hard to acquire for those who want one.
Still struggling to see the value in the base PS5 over the PS4 Pro at the moment, so I'm not going to drop £800 on a console with another little improvement.
Let me know when the PS6 and its exclusives gets announced. Meantime, I'm more interested in what will be announced as Switch 2.
@Wizpig17 You don't need it, not missing out on anything.
Your can relax now
@Shalooda Yeah, I can't wait for good first party games like Concord to come out.
-WAIT WHAT?!
Removed - trolling/baiting; user is banned
@Slidebomb Better gaming, more enjoyment, cost me about €350 to upgrade and I'll use it for 4 years, no need to feel sorry for me 🙃
@Buckster no I didn't mean that crap I meant the proper games from studios like insomniac , naughty dog, bend studio, bluepoint, housemarque , and of course sucker punch, oh you was trying to make a funny,and the only place to play those game will be on playstation 😁 you must be gutted the pro is selling out 😂😂
Happily waiting for PS6
@Shalooda 🤣 Yeah I know what you mean, it will be nice IF Sony can actually release some good first party games, and if those releases are good and survive more then a couple weeks.
The PS5 Pro isn't selling out like the PS5 did, we obviously won't get the sales figures for a while but I'd be surprised if it sells as strongly as Sony might hope.
@KeenAerondight agreed, and I don't think it's Sony having increased supply.
It's a big ask for a mid gen upgrade in a tight economic situation
Will pick one up this time next year I think when GTA 6 and the new Battlefield games are coming out!
Until then...it feels like most games don't take advantage of the PS5 power as it is.
Im still happy with my base PS4! I only use my Ps5 to play games the ps4 wont run (like Astro´s Playroom for example).
I could change my mind later. Right now I rather save the money for the Nintendo Switch Successor, Ps6, and/or NeXtBox
I'll wait for an offer on used-ones...as soon as those housewifes find out how much did their hubbies invest in a brand-new "aircon", those thrift stores will stock up like crazy
