It's a rather large RPG, but it's been out for a few weeks now — and so we want to know what you think of Octopath Traveler II. We're in a bit of a weird situation here on the PlayStation side of things, since the first game was never released on Sony platforms — but the good news is that this (supposedly much improved) sequel has its own standalone story and characters.
We gave the turn-based adventure an 'excellent' 9/10 in our glowing Octopath Traveler II PS5 review. We described it as "a breath-taking work of art, filled to the brim with story and adventure, bolstered by a cast of incredible characters who will leave you wanting more at every turn". It doesn't really get much better than that, does it? "A masterfully crafted RPG," we concluded.
But don't let us sway your opinion! As always, we want to know what review score you would give this game. So vote in our poll, and then explain yourself in the comments section below.

I gave it a 9. The gameplay, the skills, the HD visuals and lighting, voice acting, story and the music are all top quality. Basically it's a huge improvement in every area over the first game.
I’m thinking of trading RE8 and Triangle Strategy in towards this one, but I am yet to be convinced the writing is better than Octopath 1, despite basically everyone telling me it is!
Maybe I don’t know what I am missing.
I’ve not yet purchased it. I want to, but I know I don’t realistically have time at the moment to play through it because I’m intimidated by the rumored length of the game. I’m really contemplating getting it though.
A solid 9 for me. I bought a PSVR2 and I've barely touched it because I've been so hooked on Octopath 2.
Oh it’s an easy NINE for me. Fantastic game. Despite what someone has put, no game deserves an abysmal, and certainly not OT2.
9 for me.octopath traveler is a instant classic.word up son
It's a 10 for me and comfortably so. I haven't come across anything that I've disliked.
I love rpgs and tried the demo but wasn’t for me. Didn’t really like it. Thought it was poor
It’s an easy 9/10 for me. The only thing knocking it down is the vagueness of some side quests, which was also prevalent in the first game.
I see someone thinks the game belongs in the same pot as Superman 64
Loved the first game on the Switch but the sequel is better in every way!
About 12 hours in and having an absolute blast...9 for me.
Just playing 30 minutes of Throne campaign in the demo was enough to confirm to me that this entry is much better than the first. So far better character, animation, writing, visuals, and the music remains in top form. It also seems grander in scope. Looking forward to playing this once I get through my backlog.
First one was a 9 for me for the look and combat mechanics alone, so this one borders right on a 10, but the use of certain "skills" outside of battle has been rote and uninteresting (also a problem in the first game), most if not all boss mechanics are repeated from the first Octopath, and the game leads you by the hand way too much (like the first). But the story and characters have definitely been more engaging. So, let's say a 9+.
Literally just bought it today after finishing the 3 hour demo. Loving it especially the rock solid turn based combat and gorgeous art style (like Final Fantasy 6 looks like in my head). I really wanted to show some love to a team making something like this. So a 9 from me after 3 hours, if the exploration and story are as good as the demo, I think I’m going to love this game.
@DrVenture69 I’d say it definitely gets better from there. Hope you enjoy 😁
4 hours in and what an amazing game so far. Gameplay is absolutely fun and enhanced with the 2x speed, and satisfying to pull off breaks and multiple attacks. Music is excellent and the game looks glorious on PS5. I'm confident giving it a 9 already
All I can say is that I just didn’t buy PS5 to play games like that. Cheers.
@ztpayne7. Might push it to a 10 for me! 😃
Since i cannot give it a 8.9/10 on your scale I'd go 9.
It's not perfect, however the sums of its parts hit heights most modern JRPGS (I said the nasty word ) haven't for me since DQ XI
@DrVenture69 @Sam_ATLUS @Kevw2006 @UltimateOtaku91 any idea if the downloadable demo progress transfers over to the disc version of the full game?
@kyleforrester87 it transfers over everything from the demo.
@UltimateOtaku91 but the disc version, right? Just checking you don’t need to get the digital version.
@kyleforrester87 Yeah I have the disk version, when I booted up the game I had the option to continue where I left off with the demo.
@kyleforrester87 Yes, when you buy the full game, whether digital or physical, if you have data from the demo the game will ask you if you want to transfer it over to the full game
@kyleforrester87, I got the digital version and you’re promoted to continue from the demo when you start, just make sure you save soon, because the demo save doesn’t show in your list of saves
@DrVenture69 @Sam_ATLUS @UltimateOtaku91 Thanks guys, appreciated!
N/A, I have no opinion since I refuse to play this until the first game has been ported over.
Yes I do know I can skip the first game, but my OCD is telling me otherwise.
