Very tricky question! Definitely Tides of Annihilation for me. I love Stellar Blade and Nikke so went with that in second. Then third I could have picked from a bunch — Sonic Racing, Shinobi, Saros — but I settled on Metal Gear Delta.
Lost Soul Aside
Saros
Tides of Annihilation
btw whoever voted for Day Gone, can suck it
Tides of annihilation and days gone remastered as to still hoping for a 2nd as they left the the 1st with a kinda cliffhanger
There were alot I was interested in. But the top for me was...
Directive 8020 - the Thing vibes really pulled me in.
Saros - Another housemarque game with Returnal vibes. Sold.
Split Fiction - loving the sci fi/fantasy mix and they always do great co-op.
Then honourable mentions include a new Shinobi game, Tides Of Annihilation and the new Onimusha game.
Tides of Annihilation, Onimusha 4... and that's kinda it. Not interested in DLCs, hate roguelikes.
Only one I know I will play is Borderlands 4 * with a couple of maybes on a couple of others pending more information.
Shinobi, Tides of Annihilation, and Darwin's Paradox.
Went for Lost Soul Aside, MindsEye and Tides of Annihilation. Cant pick Salos yet bc we only saw a CGI, if we had seen a bit more it prolly wouldve been my no. 1 though.
Three wasn't enough for me. Tides of Annihilation, Stellar Blade dlc, Lost Soul Aside, Shinobi, Hell is Is, Darwin's Paradox, Metal Gear and more all pretty much equally interested me. Some good looking stuff coming for the foreseeable future.
Character action games are back and i hope it continues to next generation.
BL4. Saros. Metal Eden. Shinobi
I’m over those hack and slash 3rd person action games no matter what the spin is
Saros and dreams of another were my top two. The bland babes with blades games look interesting and onimusha trailer was the dud of the show for me.
I went with Saros, Directive 8020 and The Midnight Walk. But if i had more options i’d also pick Darwins Paradox, Shinobi, Tides of Annihilation and Metal Eden.
Putting aside the lack of first party info, this SoP actually had a lot of good games!
How anyone can complain at this recent showcase is frankly baffling! It was so stacked full of games. Tides of Annihilation, MindsEye, and Borderlands 4 struck me the most.
Top 3
Sonic racing Crosswords
Shinobi
Lost Soul Aside
Other games I’m excited for as-well are: Tides of annihilation, Ichiban’s holidays DLC and Metal Gear Solid Delta.❗️
Onimusha for me. Looking forward to seeing my favorite Samurai game series in RE Engine.
I must admit: once I went back and combed through some of the trailers, I found more that I liked than I initially gave this State of Play credit for. Lost Soul Aside, Saros, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword were the big three for me, but Tides of Annihilation, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, MGS3 Snake Eater remake, The Midnight Walk, and Split Fiction also looked very promising. I also feel really bad about dismissing Darwin's Paradox when I first saw it. I re-watched the trailer the day after the State of Play and it looks really cute and fun. It's like a sillier and more cartoonish version of Inside and Oddworld.
So, again, I think the State of Play was overall kind of mediocre, but there were more highlights than I initially gave it credit for.
Mindseye, Sonic Racing Crossworlds, & Onimusha: Way Of The Sword (Capcom own this generation).
Shout out to Darwin's Paradox & Mullet Gear Solid Delta, Konami bringing the heat!
I‘m wondering if SIE expected that much attention for ToA. I mean, it looks superb, but based on the positions in the show, I think they expected other games as „big ones“.
Tides of Annihilation, Digimon Story Time Stranger, and Saros in terms of actual new reveals even tho only the former 2 showed gameplay. But I think I'm still more excited to play MH Wilds very soon
Tides of Annihilation
Borderlands 4
Digimon Story Time Stranger
Although Monster Hunter Wilds would be in that list but I've already seen enough of that so gave my votes to new reveals.
-Tides of Annihilation because it looks awesome
-Midnight Walk because of its unique and creepy visuals, and the fact that it is for VR
-Blue Prince because I knew no one else was gonna pick it (it looks great too)
Probably Tides of Annihilation, Saros and hmmm... Lost Soul Aside... but it's tough because there were so many that I liked including Blue Prince, Darwin's Paradox, Directive 8020, Dreams of Another, Hell Is Us, Lies of P DLC, MindsEye, Midnight walk, Onimusha, Shinobi, Split Fiction and a few others.
And as someone who bought but never played the original i'm excited for Days Gone Remastered and going back to MGS Delta.
Lost Soul Aside
Saros
Tides of Annihilation
Shinobi looks cool. I struggled to pick two others but plumped for the octopus game in that I’d play it if it dropped on PS Plus.
Three choices is too few!
I dunno how anyone can be disappointed from this SoP. Peak spoiled gamer entitlement.
Top 3 are Saros, Shinobi, and Sonic Racing. Although Darwin's Paradox and the new Mignight Walk footage coming in close and would be there if it was top 5.
I thought lots of it looked/felt pretty generic but I guess that's the hard part with new stuff so not judging too hard.
Darwin's paradox and Shinobi were the most interesting things for me.
I will await more details on the rest of it.
I'm not surprised to see Tides of Annihilation so high. Most interesting new announcement all show
Hello there fellow gamers.
My top 3 picks from the State of Play are:
But there are many others that I am excited about such as:
This was a pretty good SoP in my book. Lot´s of good and different stuff to look forward to. Can´t go wrong with that.
Cheers everyone
@JAMes-BroWWWn
I don't have too since your mother had been quite keen.
My favorite game was Resident Evil 9.
Borderlands 4
Metal Gear Solid 3
Days Gone
Days Gone
Minds Eye
Sonic Crossworlds
Shinobi and Onimushas (both of them) as homourable mentions 👍
1. Days Gone Remastered
It is amazing to know that this amazing game is updated to a state where its future (and legacy) is secured. I don't have the pro console or a very expensive television, so this is more a collector's object for me. One can hope that the old Bend can be restored.
The universe and horde mechanic is very cool and appealing to me. Forget about TLOU, this is the epitome of Zombie gaming.
2. Metal Gear 3: Snake Eater
What is the deal with the 'delta' part of the title? Anyways, again getting the best MGS games up to modern standards will be a boon for gamers everywhere. Especially for new comers. It is a very special game in a even more special franchise. It has lived rent free in my head ever since my first playthrough.
3. Saros
Hard to pick the last one. Had fun with Returnal, but I never progressed from the first biome. Maybe Saros is more like Deathloop which I finished with glee.
I picked;
But also;
Both onimusha 2 samurai destiny and onimusha way of the sword.and metal gear solid delta snake eater.word up son
Top 3 were:
Tides of Annihilation and Saros. Tho I feel it should’ve been revealed until gameplay was ready to show, a cinematic does nothing for me.
#1 is easily Saros as Returnal was Game of the year for 2021.
#2 Lost Soul Aside as I’ve been anticipating that one for a long time.
#3 Split Fiction because it’s one of my most anticipated for 2025. It Takes Two was so damn good!
Darwin's Paradox! LOL I'm just tired of most big games...Not to say that there weren't any interesting titles, but they're likely not for me. Or I simply don't think that they are worth full price. I almost always wait before I buy. I'll first want to see the reviews, play demos or watch streamers play.
Shinobi looks like the only game I could see myself actually buying (if it's not a full price release).
I'm really burned out with AAA games lately so it's hard to get excited for those anymore.
@IOI If they don't reveal Saros until gameplay is ready then people gonna complaint "Where's Sony 1st party? They should show at least one game with CG trailer".
One has to love how "there was nothing shown" during the SoP and excitement poll having like almost 30 entries..
Anyway:
But there is at least 3-4 more that I weighted upon before settling on these 3.
In no particular order:
Lies of P - Overture
Lost Soul Aside
Tides of Annihilation
Lies of P is my favorite Soulslike (not made by FromSoft) and the trailer for its DLC looked dynamite. Lost Soul Aside and Tides of Annihilation look excellent as well.
Pretty much just metal gear and monster hunter for me. Onimusha might be cool if it isn't too souls-like.
The three games I voted for is as followed: Shinobi: Art of Vengeance (I mean, wow, it looks sensational); Saros; and Tides of Annihilation.
With that said, Hell Is Us, the Stellar Blade DLC, and MGS Delta: Snake Eater are also high on my list. I would have also voted for Lies of P Overture. The base game is in my top 10 of all time. However, I wasn’t entirely sold on the DLC, from a narrative standpoint and an environmental one. But it’s also Lies of P, so it should have excellent combat.
1. Lost Soul Aside, 2. Onimusha Way of the Sword. 3. Shinobi.
Directive 8020, Lies of P: Overture, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Stellar Blade x Nikke, and Tides of Annihilation were probably my favorite things that were shown during the SoP. The Days Gone remaster didn't really get me excited even though I really enjoyed the base game (I played it post-launch where it got better). Overall, I didn't think it was a waste of time.
Easily Lies of P for me. It’s probably my second favorite Souls-like, behind Bloodborne (yes, ahead of Elden Ring). The Belle Epoque is such an amazing vibe and we desperately need more games in that setting.
Lost Soul Aside, Shinobi, Tides of Annihilation for me…
I wouldn't say there was much that spoke to me personally, but a few games where shown that I'd like to see more of, Tides of Annihilation being the big one.
You should be able to pick more than 3, lame
What PS5 games ? Only saw PC games at the State of Play.
I am very excited that Housemarque is continuing what they started with Returnal - but also excited for Tides of annihilation and Stellar Balde dlc. A lot promising games on display tbh
Metal Gear and Dreams of Another are my top 2. Lost Records would fill out my top 3 if it was an option, so I voted Saros because I liked Returnal well enough. But I should’ve voted for Split Fiction! Whoops!
Saros, Blue Prince, Darwin’s Paradox, and Shinobi are the B tier. Hell is Us, Tides of Annihilation, Sonic, and Lost Soul Aside are let’s see how they review tier. I preordered Delta after the showcase. I’ll probably preorder Dreams or Another if I can.
Saros. Its Housemarque so I'm expecting some S tier gunplay. Really cant wait to see the balletic bullet hell lightshow in action.
I enjoyed it more than I initially thought. The first half was mainly trash, but there were some bangers in the latter 20 mins of the show. Mindseye, Tides of Annihilation, and The Midnight Walk stick out to me..
Midnight walk,Lost Soul Aside,Hell is us,Onimusha Way Of Sword,MGS snake eater and of course MONSTER HUNTER WILDS ( this definitely a day 1 for me )
@JAMes-BroWWWn Days Gone is obviously too scary for you.
I bet that everyone sleeping on Sonic Racing Crossworlds hasn't played Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and so doesn't know...
Onimusha, hell is us and tides of annihilation. Of course mgs as well, but that's popular by default
Borderlands 4
Metal Gear Solid 3
Days Gone Remastered
I probably need to go and watch it again as I do not remember have the names in that list.
Tiddies of Annihilation.. gaming is healing
Both Onimushas & Returnal 2 (Saros).
I only got to vote once. Maybe I pressed submit and could have selected more.
Well, my top is
1. The Midnight Walk
2. MGS: Delta
3. Sonic Racing: Crossworlds
I think Split Fiction will be a lot of fun for my wife and me, but it's not grabbing me as much as I wish it was. Hell is Us also is looking interesting.
I feel if games like phantom blade and lost soul had a PlayStation studios logo with them maybe people would be more excited for them but both are console exclusives
Managed to find 3 to select:
1. Hell is Us
2. Tides of Annihilation
3. Split Fiction
Hope they'll actually deliver on their promises. And for No. 2 that they'll manage to improve on that mediocre acting for the final version...
Shinobi
Onimusha 4
Directive 8020
Both Onimusha Games & Hell is Us.
Tides Of Annihilation
Borderlands 4
Metal Eden
Tides of Annihilation (hate the name though, sounds like a generic WoW patch)
Lost Soul Aside
Lies of P dlc
Saros- Returnal Game of the generation. Spiritual sequel is a hell yeah from me.
Onimusha way of the sword- Liked the look of the combat. Hopefully can change to subs and japanese VO though. English was BAD!
Shinobi- This looks like pure fun and gorgeous art style.
Days Gone remaster would of been brilliant.
But of course they are skipping the ps plus version we all got.
Problem is, I have days gone physically. But I've now got a pro which has no disc drive and all I've got is the ps plus version.
I ain't paying 49.99 for it and I'm not buying a disc drive. So they've lost a sale from me
What's wrong with mankind, that Split/Fiction is not at 98%?
I did not realise that "Tides of Annihilation" had another gameplay video until now. Watching through it and it looks really half decent. From the trailer shown in the SoP it looked like it was just a Boss to Boss killer game.
@Migoshuro probably because it requires 2 players and not every one has that option. As soon as I saw it, I just ignored it as I know I will never play it. Same reason why I have never played It Takes Two.
@ZeD Thanks for your reply. I wasn't serious, though. It was just my (maybe failed) humorous way of saying, that I think it looks like GOTY-material. But I guess the market for inventive platforming games is not as huge, as I would hope for. Yeah, and multiplayer-requirement may also come into play, here, as you've said.
@Migoshuro lol
If we are going on the previous games from the same studio, I see no reason why it could not be a GotY. I have played two of that studio's games in the past (Brothers and A Way Out) and both of them were excellent.
Maybe I am just bitter because I have no way of playing the newer ones 😂
Mine were Tides of Annihilation, Onimusha: Way of The Sword and MindsEye. I will seek those.
