So hard to choose just five games from that list, but I've gone with (in no particular order)...
2024 is a feast for weebs.
It's the Trails series and Metaphor for me baby!
Next year is going to be prettycpoor in terms if my expectations. At least i can catch up on thus year
Little Nightmares for sure
1. FF7R
2. Rise of the Ronin
3. Dragons Dogma 2
4. Metaphor
5. Tie between P3R and the Suikoden remasters
What a year is in store for us…
My picks:
FFVII Rebirth
Dragon's Dogma 2
Granblue Fantasy Relink
Tekken 8
Metaphor: ReFantazio
Honorable mention not on the list: Stellar Blade, that is safe to assume will be delayed to 2024? Shadow dropped in a stealth State of Play before the end of the year?
Tbh I don't care about any of those games
FFVII Rebirth
Dragon's Dogma 2
Granblue Fantasy Relink
Trails through Daybreak
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
For me. Though nothing that I'd consider a must buy on day one tbh
Only one for me on that list is Starwars, slim pickings so far
I'm really looking forward to Other. Don't know anything about it but it's on the list so can't wait to see what it's about!
A whole lot more but if I have to choose then: Final fantasy, rise of the ronin, alone in the dark, black myth wukong, pacific drive.
Thank Goodness You're Here might be my MOST anticipated game for 2024. It looks absolutely hilarious.
Dragons Dogma 2 and Final Fantasy are the only day one for me listed. I'll get TLOU because of the $10 upgrade, but I don't really count that.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Persona 3 Reload
Metaphor: ReFantazio
Like A Dragon 8
Also looking forward to Dragons Dogma 2 and Granblue Fantasy
Guess I might like JRPGs
I went with Dragons Dogma 2, Tekken 8, Final Fantasy 7, Rise of the Ronin and after the closed Beta, Suicide Squad! I think that Rocksteady are saying the right things moving ahead to launch and the implementation of an offline mode is definitely a showing that the game can’t be just closed down as people (and myself) had worried.
Eiyuden Chronicles And Suikoden (hopefully). Just need to finish Octopath 2 and Chained Echoes now! I’m trying to get excited for Rebirth, but I’m just not feeling it. Episodic was a bad idea
I'm actually very excited for Foamstars, its some of the most fun I had online this year 😀 Then the 1-2 punch of GranBlue Fantasy Relink and FF7 Rebirth
Star Wars Outlaws
Rise of the Ronin Hope the gameplay is smooth and even more so that the graphics are a big step up for the studio. I need my historical fiction hit so hopefully it's got that nailed down. I really hope this one is a GotY contender.
Black Myth: Wukong Be interesting to see what this game actually turns out to be. Could be epic.
And then I'm happy to get swept up by hype if something else shows up that is really, really well received.
Dragon dogma 2.black myth wukong.rise of the ronin.granblue fantasy relink.and final fantasy 7 rebirth.word up son
The year of JRPG's for me, my top 5 (so far) are,
Dragons Dogma 2
Granblue Fantasy Relink
Final Fantasy 7 ReBirth
Visions of Mana
Metaphor Re Fantazio
But still so many other great Japanese games releasing next year, can't wait. My PS5 is going to be overworked.
For me:
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Like a Dragon Infinite Wealth
Persona 3 Reload
Tekken 8
and a non-PS5 release? Side Order Expansion for Splatoon 3.
Literally nothing enticing on the list for 2024. I guess 2024 is the year I will have enough time to clear my backlog instead. 2025 is going to be big though 🥳
I enjoyed the FFVII Remake enough that I'd like to play the next part but probably much later when it's reduced. Dragon's Dogma 2 has me curious so I'll keep an eye on it. Overall though the only one I am actually excited for is Star Wars Outlaws.
Fine with me though, I've got plenty to play for the time being.
By the way, Sony's strategy to focus on Gaas seems to beign showing its ugly face in 2024 as they have no major exclusives planned for next year.
Select up to five games? Jeez, I had trouble picking just three. Not much to be genuinely excited for so far. Where are all the PlayStation Studios titles?
I'm honestly not excited about any of it, maybe Starwars, maybe.
Honestly glad I've got an Xbox this Gen. Only worry there is their 1st party so far has been kind of bad, except for Horizen
Must haves
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
Star Wars Outlaws
Dragon's Dogma 2
Looking forward to
Vampire: The Masquerade
FFVII Rebirth
DD 2
Black Myth Wukong
Rise of the ronin
Prince of persia
Sandland
Harold Halibut
@ShogunRok No Final Fantasy?
Next year is a year to clear your backlog by the looks of it
Couldn't boil it down to 5 but close enough:
Hope it won't get more over the year that I can work off my backlog (looking at you Nintendo, take a year off!)
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the only vote I made. Really not feeling Rise of the Ronin right now until I know more.
The rest of the games I am interested in I'll be playing elsewhere.
In no order:
*Decapolice
*Grandblue Fantasy Relink
*Black Myth: Wukong
*Stellar Blade
*Tekken 8
There are of course more then these.
Lost Soul Aside is easily my most anticipated game, based on previous demos. But will it be released in 2024? I think it’s still pretty quiet?
Would be nice to have an article build around this list with some short explanations per game. Lots of titles I haven’t heard of before.
1: Elden Ring dlc
2: Alan Wake dlc
2023: back catalogue (Spiderman 2, Resistant 4 etc)
3: Pacific Drive
4: Dragons Dogma 2
5: Vampire... : Bloodlines 2 if it previews well.
Back catalogue gets greater every year and 2023 has been great so not in a rush for anything other than the top 2.
Wich of those are EXCLUSIVE to Playstation 5?
Hopefully Death Stranding 2? Or Pragmata? Will we ever see an update from that one?
For me:
1. FF7R2
2. The Plucky Squire
3. Pacific Drive
4. Dragon’s Dogma 2
5. Maybe Black Myth… I’m waiting for reviews to see how Souls it is, but I love how it looks
Cat Quest, obviously.
@Tr3mm0r HellDivers 2, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Final Fantasy 7 ReBirth, Rise of the Ronin, TLOU 2 Remastered, Lost Soul Aside and Pacific Drive are PlayStation exclusives.
Then other games like Spy X Anya, Decapolice, Trails through Daybreak are not on Xbox consoles either (on switch though)
Top 4 right now would be Like a Dragon 8, Rebirth, Rise of the Ronin and Metaphor, in that order. Not sure about the fifth.
I too am an edgelord who thinks all these games are crap. Even if this list had somthing that is perfect for me I’m still to cool to admit it. I’m sure all the other gaming babies will lap up all these subpar games but for me all 800 suck.
In no particular order...
Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth
Persona 3 Reload
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Trails through Daybreak
Metaphor Refantazio
+more
Truly the year of the JRPG 2024 is.
There’s nothing really except Tomb Raider 1-3, Star Wars Outlaws and Suicide Squad. Next year is looking pretty terrible for big game releases. Hopefully there are some surprises. Otherwise, the only games I’ll be playing next year (except for the three I mentioned) are F2P games.
I wanted to vote Ys X, but that seems to be far off
I’m looking forward to Helldivers 2 although I’m worried it might lose something of it’s magic by going third person
2024 doesn't seem to be as packed as 2023 unfortunately.
I'm looking for
Damn kinda packed now
@PixelDragon funny 😹. This kind of gamers that always love to complain is annoy me so bad.
1)dragons dogma 2
2)helldivers 2
3)rise of the ronin
4)warhammer space marine 2
5)the first descendant
They are the main ones I'm looking forwards to the most.
1. FF7 Rebirth
2. Grandblue Fantasy Relink
3. Persona 3 Reload
4. Rise of the Ronin
5. Visions of Mana
Also, Tekken 8, Eiyuuden chronicles, Alone in the Dark, Blue Protocol and Unicorn overlord
This year is for us JRPG lovers and I'm so excited.
Plucky Squire!! Really can't wait to play that.
Yakuzaaaaaaa
Rise of the ronin
Persona 3 reload
Dragon’s dogma 2
FFVII remake rebirth
Lost soul aside
Maybe suicide squad not sure yet
Tomb raider 1-3 remastered
Last of us 2 remastered
Like a dragon infinite wealth
Black myth wukong
Warhammer space marine 2
Star Wars outlaws
Day one games for me:
Rise of the ronin
Dragon’s dogma 2
FFVII remake rebirth
Persona 3 reload
Black myth wukong
Lost soul aside
Space marine 2
Star wars outlaws
intrigued by a few there, but honestly none are day one
I’m not super excited for anything on the list really. I’m intrigued by a few but in ‘wait for reviews’ kind of way.
Stellar Blade
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Rise of the Ronin
Persona 3 Reload
Metaphor reFantazio
and special shoutouts to Nightingale and Hades 2 going into early access
None of those scream "omg buy on day one at all cost" to me, maybe I'm getting old or something
Final Fantasy Rebirth, Suikoden, Eiyuden Chronicles, Visions of Mana and my write-in games is Mina The Hollower!
Black myth wukong looks pretty swell, so I'm all on it. In general, next year seems to be really weak in comparison to what was 2023
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Persona 3 Reload, and Star Wars Outlaws are the big 3 for me.
Metaphor is no.1 for me by a long shot. It would take something very exciting to take my attention away from that.
FF VII Rebirth is no.2 followed by Tekken 8.
Outside of those there's not much I'd considered must play. Dragons Dogma 2, Black Myth, The Plucky Squire, Rise of the Ronin and Little Nightmares 3 all have interest from me but we'll see.
Persona 3 looks like a good remake minus the removed content. I probably won't get it and wait for the inevitable complete condition, that or Persona 6.
Out of just that list, it’s FFVII: Rebirth.
But if Death Stranding 2 makes it next year, that’s easily my #1
I would also take DLC such as Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree and Destiny 2: The Final Shape over anything on this list.
January to March is JRPG heaven
Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth
Persona 3 Reload
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Dragons Dogma 2
Ace Attorney Apollo Justice
Rise Of The Ronin
I'm really looking forward to Pacific Drive personally. I also chose FFVII and I really want Skull & Bones to be good but I'll be waiting to get it because Ubisoft.
Little Nightmares 3. I know it's not being developed by Tarsier this time, which is a little disappointing to say the least, but Supermassive is a legitimate developer and what they've shown so far looks incredible. FF7 part 2, Black Myth, and DD2 will likely be great as well
Broken Roads and the Snufkin game
For me it is Star Wars Outlaws, and Black Myth: Wukong.
I wanted to add Skull and Bones, as I have really looked forward to it. But I must say that I have now given up hope of it ever appearing, at all.
Pacific Drive
Black Myth Wukong
Star wars outlaws.
Dragons Dogma (skeptically hopeful)
Final Fantasy Rebirth (hoping it's better than the first remake, which felt very linear and stretched thin).
Glaringly light year for ps5 exclusives, and if you don't really like the style/tone of many of the games from across the pacific, it's a pretty light year altogether in terms of what we know is coming.
@PixelDragon I don’t speak for all gamers though. Just me 😁
Maybe once I see some reviews (or more coverage) I might change my mind but as of right now, I don’t look at this list and think, ‘OMG I can’t wait for that!’ Well, with the exception of Tomb Raider because it’s my favourite gaming franchise. But that’s only a remake of the first three games, not a new TR game (which would be ‘OMG I can’t wait for that!’).
But I’m not one of the ‘complaining gamers’ and don’t need every new game to reinvent the wheel. I’d happily play a new Assassins Creed game every year and would never get bored.
I feel like Sony need to reveal their release schedule for the whole year so we know what to expect. A ‘low-key’ start to the year isn’t as bad if we know there are some heavy hitters coming further down the line.
I had like 10 games from that list man next year is stacked
FFVII Rebirth is the only game I want on day one.
The others I selected will be sales for the backlog that I’ll never complete.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Dragon's Dogma 2 by a mile.
A decade ago, I was convinced those two games would never exist. Now I'm going to be playing them back to back in just a few months. That might make 2024 my favorite year for video games by default.
Out of that list, I couldn’t even pick one.
Not in the list, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown or The Precinct (if they both launch in 2024) would be my choices.
Most hyped for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Honestly no idea nothing has caught my eye yet.
Other than Stellar Blade not really fussed for anything else. (Aka almost a Bright Memory Infinite moment had no interest in COD, BF or Halo and it still was the most exciting Indie shooter later whether that happens with Stellar Blade no idea).
Warhammer Space Marine 2 I'm kind of into but even then I haven't gotten into the first game that much but want to just been busy with other games and other shooters even that are modern but retro.
Helldivers 2 and Sand Land are probably fine but just not my thing.
Do I think Grandblue Fantasy Relink or FF7 Rebirth are great yes, am I into those types of JRPGs no.
Do I care for most of the western IPs there not really, no, none at all. Like cool for Tomb Raider older entries then the more PS3 trilogy I have access to but even then. Anticipated not really just a cool bonus port/remaster.
Prince of Persia is probably fine but I have the others to play through enough still and I'd rather Sands of Time remake or the original. A 2D one is fine but if it's metroidvania to fit trends then not interested if it's a 2D platformer like the older entries then sure I may give it a go in the future. I mean Rayman is behind DLC since Legends released years ago so....... Got to support something if Ubisoft keeps trying but pushes the others and I know Red Steel 2 VR won't happen either. I have nothing to care about with modern Ubisoft as it is.
The other Japanese games don't do it for me of world/game design appeal I'm into tactics games or visual novels not fighting/turn or real time action linear/open world JRPGs at all and the Indies are fine games but not of my taste like others have prior years.
There isn't anything genre wise I'm really into here. Like Test Drive Solar Crown is probably fine but I mean it's an open world racing game, a genre I don't care for and most circuit/A to B ones have been hit or miss besides WRC 2023. Ride 4 & 5 are cool in terms of features in playability hard and pro level so can't play them. GT7/Forza Motorsport 8 are just boring/bad in so many ways I'll never touch them.
if i had to pick i guess tekken 8 and the tomb raider remasters
but overall , none really has me “anticipating”
Ace Attorney, Decapolice, FF7R, Metaphor, Trails to Daybreak
Wow, with this list in front of me I now realize that I'm not really hyped for anything coming next year. I guess it'll be another year where I play the never-ending backlog of games already out.
I am going to have to go with Space Marine 2. I have been waiting over 12 years to see the continuation of that storyline.
1. Rise of the Ronin
2. Dragons dogma 2
3. Eiyuden Chronicles: Hundred Heroes
4. Suikoden remasters
5. FF7R Part 2 remakester
The start of next year game releases is already shaping up to to be better then the last two years for me personally
For me it's far and away Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and then Star Wars Outlaws in second. I'm sure there will be others that get my attention at some point, but those two are so easily my most anticipated there's no point in me voting for anything else.
Not looking fantastic next year! Star Wars Outlaws looks decent but we'll see... I'm sure some more games will surprise me or pop up on my radar! I've got a ridiculous backlog of PS exclusives and I've just dug my old Xbox 360 out and been and bought a few games for that so it's a year for the backlog for sure! I've also just completed Ghost of tsushima and I never even realised that game released till I saw it the other month! How did I miss that one!? So here's my list for next year then of the top of my head;
-God of war 3 remastered, GOW, GOW ragnarok
-The last of us 2
-Hogwarts legacy
-Gotham knights
-Ac Valhalla DLC
Lord of the rings conquest
star wars revenge of the sith
star wars Outlaws
Finnish arkham knight
AND THE REST!....
Yep my year looks stacked after all then.
Just remembered one you missed which should definitely be coming west next year.
YS X: Nordics
Mine were:.
FF7
Star Wars Outlaws
The Plucky Squire
Banishers: Ghost of New Eden
Black Myth Wukong
Plucky Squire needs more attention.
I do want Tekken 8 but knowing there will be like 10 season passes I would never get it day one, unfortunately like almost all fighting game these days is better to wait unless you're a tournament player
Between FF7 and Black Myth though FF7 slightly edges it.
No mention of Death Stranding 2?
I would pick it up. Loved the first one. I think it should be released in 2024 cuz they started the development in 2020. 🧐
Well it’s definitely not another Last of Us Re re re re re that latest Black Myth trailer did look sensational in all its 4k 60fps glory; how could you deny it. Exodus is floatin my boat too but that’s not out next year is it
Gutted that Stellar Blade didn't make the list, as I would have voted for it had it been present (& don't want to choose "Other").
As it stands I voted for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, Trails Through Daybreak, & Visions of Mana just to round it out. I have interest in Rise of the Ronin, but I'm not big into Souls-Likes, so we'll see.
Why was LIGHT NO FIRE removed?
Really hoping that Stellar Blade shows up again soon.
There's a LOT of good games here. I think for me the main ones are DECAPOLICE, Infinite Wealth, and FF7 Rebirth, but I honestly could have picked dozens from this list!
It's looking pretty dire, I have to admit. Little Nightmares and Pacific Drive are in the maybe pile. It looks like I'll have to wait until 2025.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the only one that hits my list the most. Someday I'd get Persona 3 but not buying day 1. Lost Soul Aside and Star Wars Outlaws have my interest too
I don't see Silent Hill 2 or Stellar Blade or Silksong... I know...
@ShogunRok I struggled to pick 3 lol
Desperately want some Sony first party announcements!!!
@ValkyriaProfile
Yes! Why's that not on the list, I would definitely have picked Stellar Booty... sorry, Blade if it was there!
For me, the big three are FF VII Rebirth, Tekken 8 and Like a Dragon 8, with Rise of the Ronin and Star Wars Outlaws as potential additional hits, depending on how they turn out.
I'll be buying this years games next year as they will be cheaper and I'll be buying next year's games in 2025 when they are cheaper.
So no most anticipated games for me yet.
Had to add Stellar Blade. Still have faith in it despite the radio silence.
Only interested in Tekken 8 to be honest. I've enough of a backlog to keep me going other than that.
Highly recommend Planet of Lana though for anyone who enjoyed Inside or Limbo.
Damn it realised I missed Star Wars Outlaws somehow, that looked right up my street. Would have been hard to drop one through, so just as well
In no particular order:
Rise of the Ronin
Star Wars Outlaws
Black Myth: Wukong
Kunitsu-Gami
Prince Of Persia
Looking forward to a few others as, plucky squire, banishers etc. 3rd party as always knocking it out of the park!
@TheEnygma Love the shout-out for Hades 2, definitely my most anticipated game bar none!
So many games to look forward to: Dragon's dogma 2
Final fantasy VII REbirth
Tekken 8
Eyuiden chronicles sequel
Cat quest III
And Black Myth wukong are all must play for me.
I hope we get a remaster of Space Marine alongside Space Marine 2. I didn’t get to play the first one!
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Tekken 8 are my two most-anticipated games by far.
1.) Space Marine 2
2.) Dragons Dogma 2
3.) Alone in the Dark
4.) Star Wars Outlaws
5.) FF7: Rebirth
And of course Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree
Look at all these games coming out. And some people have the nerve to say "there's nothing coming out". Please 😂
In no particular order, Dragon's Dogma 2, Star Wars Outlaws and Tomb Raider (the proper ones remastered)
Cat Quest 3. ☺
If that's a list of everything currently known for 2024, then... nothing.
I just bought Planet of Lana on Steam. I'm interested in Pacific Drive, but I wouldn't say I was "highly anticipating" it. Same with TLOU2 Remastered... love the game(s), but it feels like yet another unnecessary remaster and a money-grab from ND, regardless of what new modes they put in it... would rather they got on with something completely new, or Uncharted 5.
Other than that... probably Helldivers 2 if its co-op is any good, as me and a couple of mates should enjoy it.
Man, it really has been a poor few years for new games... in my personal opinion. I'm not sorry I bought my PS5, but if I was still stuck with only my PS4 Pro, I wouldn't be too disappointed. And the speculation around the PS5 Pro is ridiculous - why release an upgrade to a system that has hardly been pushed to it's limits yet? 🤷🏻♂️
Of those listed, honestly Tekken 8 is the only one that gets me going. The rest are either skips or wait to come to Plus/Gamepass
Rise of the Rōnin🔥🔥🔥
Like a Dragon 8
Black Myth Wukong
Persona 3 Reload
Lost Soul Aside caught my attention
If you like Japanese centric games 2024 is going to be a very good year. For me It will be a great year will many games I am looking forward to.
There are also some great games coming for sim game fans too.
If you are however a more casual AAA fan it's looking a bit light. Can't really see anything beyond Star Wars Outlaws right now.
My 5:
LAD: Infinite Wealth
Persona 3: Reload
Eiyuden Chronicles 100 Heroes
Rise of The Ronin
Metaphor: ReFantazio
Other honourable mentions including non PS:
Avowed
Flight Sim 2024
DecaPolice
Dragons Dogma 2
Unicorn Overlord
Star Wars Outlaws
Final Fantasy 7 is my most anticipated. I want to kick the football and play pool in the Costa Del Sol!
Mine were:
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
Star Wars: Outlaws
Rise of The Ronin
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
A great year awaits!!
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth
Metaphor: ReFantazio
Persona 3 Reload
Rise of the Ronin
Decapolice
Would be my picks. If Sony managed to pick up the slack on the first-party front, it'd be a good year for PS5.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, easy. Though, it's a little disappointing that we don't have any confirmed first party games, as of right now, for 2024. I hope the new regime ends Sony's radio silence that has been so prevalent during Jim Ryan's tenure.
Silent Hill 2 Remake
(I understand why it isn't listed but IT'S GOT TO RELEASE in 2024, right...? RIGHT? RIGHT!?!?!?)
Other than that.. I have some others I hope release in 2024:
Luto
Small Saga
Metal Bringer
Post Trauma
Plucky Squire (crap I forgot to vote for this one 😩 )
