Wow! We're on the cusp of Issue 400, and it doesn't feel like a week since we started this series. Well, actually, it does. Fun fact for some of our newer readers: WAYP was originally a bi-weekly feature. What a terrible, terrible idea, eh?
Sammy Barker, Editor
I've got to be completely and brutally honest with you: I downloaded Out of the Park Baseball 22 on my laptop and I feel like it was a mistake. Oh, don't get me wrong, it's an incredible game β I just don't have time for it in my life.
Stephen Tailby, Associate Editor
Sorry, Deathloop β I've ended up with a handful of indie games to review. I'll keep playing you one day. In the meantime, I'll be taking a look at Backbone, the noir detective adventure in a world full of humanised animals. Then there's Demon Turf, a 3D platformer with a blend of 2D sprite work and polygonal, almost PS1-esque environments. Games are weird.
Graham Banas, Reviewer
While I might have some reviewing to do, I still plan on making some room Back 4 Blood. i've been playing it a ton since launch. Sure, it's not quite as good as Left 4 Dead, but it's scratching that very same itch. What's not to love?! Plus I'm probably gonna be playing some Toy Soldiers HD. I absolutely loved that game back when it launched on the 360, so I'm really glad to get the chance to play around with it some more.
That's everything we're playing in Issue 399, then, but what about the rest of you? What games are keeping you occupied this weekend? Let us know in the comments section below.

This weekend my gaming time is limited but I will probably enjoy the Riders Republic 4 hour trial, FIFA 22 trial too!
Also, will try to continue Judgement and Far Cry 6.
Obviously some more League of Legends because sadly I'm addicted to that crap
Riders Republic trial for me. Enjoyed the previous Beta and looking forward to the reviews...ππ
I'm hoping to finally get to play Horizon Zero Dawn. I bought it on sale ages ago but haven't got a chance to play it and see what all the hype was about.
PS5: Ys VIII
Switch: Ori and the Blind Forest (if I get a go, my wife is hooked on Animal Crossing)
My Nephew is up next weekend so I'll be showing off the PS5 and Switch OLED to him as well as taking him to see Dune and eat lots of junk food.
Have a good weekend whatever your up to folks!
I'm playing Hide the Sausage on my own again this weekend because I'm abroad alone. If only I had a Switch.
I've been holding out on a second playthrough of Witcher 3, but with news of the delay of the PS5 version I thought I'd just jump back in and satisfy my craving. I'm also still progressing through Kena in brief spurts in order to make the most of my time with the game. The more I play it, the more I'm in awe of what the tiny studio accomplished in their first outing. It's a top GOTY contender for me. Inbetween I'll be off to the races: Wreckfest, Onrush, Trackmania, Hot Wheels Unleashed and Horizon Chase Turbo. Happy weekend all, and happy gaming!
Still on PREY. Can't believe I waited this long playing this classic, can't put it down. It's so satisfying finding loot, recycling, fabricating materials, upgrading and powering up. This and Dishonored just replaced BioShock's MIA this gen, and they're even better. I think PREY was a bit slept on because it came too quickly after Dishonored 2, it was pretty bad timing. I don't know if I'd be playing anything else this weekend because it's got me hooked for 1 week straight, well maybe some laps in GT Sport and anything else. Arkane is legendary!
Days gone one of the best underrated PlayStation exclusive ever.borderlands the handsome collection.one of the best fps series ever made.and borderlands 2 is my top 2 favorite fps shooter ever next to resistance fall of man . and darkest dungeon.best indie games ever.watching spiral.a horror instant classic.im at the end of the movie.and man i love the twist in the movie.the killer no one saw coming.and Chris rock did a amazing job on his first horror movie.watching verzuz battle between 2 of the best hip hop legendary mcs ever between big daddy kane And krs one.watching martin.saved by the bell.the Jeffersons.good times.watch nba games as the season started already.and of course watching nfl football games.my Pittsburgh Steelers is off this week.they get a bye.but will be in action next week.word up son
R&C Rift Apart. Got it yesterday and played a few hours. Gameplay is as fun as ever and I like having Rivet along too. Strange how they share weapons, but I think giving them their own unique arsenal (probably half the size) would have been both limiting and tedious.
Playing AC Botherhood, I forgot how much fun this game was and I'm loving every second. Even though I do wish Ezio could run a little faster πππββοΈ. I have been spolit by the newer games.
God of War. Second play through of this amazing game, this time on ps5. Started playing to kill some time and canβt put it down even though Iβve done it all before. I have Ghost of Tsushima Directors cut for ps5 but that can wait for now. Will probably dive into f1 2021 too to keep my career going. Too many games, not enough timeβ¦
Some metroid dread, just got the ability to go invisible and go through sensor doors. I'm working so not tons of time but will maybe try rider's Republic too.
Farting my way through gta vice city on the ps5. its been 18 years since I last played it so you know I donβt remember all that much of it outside of the map.
Mass Effect 1. Just started today. What an improvement.
Iβve mostly been playing Far Cry 6 this week. Had a few days where I was really enjoying it, playing nonstop for hours. Iβve completely broken off from the main story to clear all the side quests/activities but I think Iβve overdone it a little because Iβm starting to get a bit tired of it now π
I also played about 2 hours of The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes and Iβm not sure if Iβm enjoying it as much as the others. Itβs not scary for a start - not even a little bit. It kinda feels like... if Michael Bay made a movie about the war in Iraq, crossed with a less scarier version of the movie The Descent. The characters do not talk or act like real people. And it could be the most unrealistic and cliched portrayal of US Marines ever. Other than that though, itβs ok π€£
Finally, Fortnite! Fortnitemares. Season 7 was great but I think season 8 might be the best season yet. The Horde Rush mode is brilliant (when you have a good team).
Dave chapelle the closer.im also gonna watch it.this guy is a legend and extremely funny.so thats another thing i will watch.and darkest dungeon is still the best indie games ever made.word is bond.word life.word to god.word to your mother.word is bond.word up son
The 2 best games of the year so far - Deathloop and Metroid Dread, both stunning and immersive. Love 'em
Will also blitz a few tracks on WRC 10
Have a great weekend guys β€
Still going through Far Cry 6. It's great so far and easily my favorite already in the series since 4.
I'll also probably play a round of golf or two on PGA 2K21. Honestly might be my favorite Plus game of the year it's quite good. I might even be tempted to get 2K22 when it comes out next year.
Finally, I also started UnMetal and wow I needed that game to scratch my Metal Gear itch and it has succeeded perfectly at that! Really funny little stealth game.
Bought a 14 Euro subscription of 1 month of Ubisoft+ to play
Far Cry 6 (most affordable way to play it) so that's gonna be the game for this weekend.
Finished the first Dark Pictures Anthology the other day, Man of Medan so I bought the second game Little Hope as it was on offer so I'll be playing that tonight.
The original plan was ninja gaiden 3 since I completed Sigma 2 last night. But Iβm not like it as much as the first two itβs more action and less tactical. So maybe some cotton reboot.
Just hoovering up the past of the trophies for Mafia: Definitive Edition, and then I've not really decided. I could continue through the trilogy, or I might take a break from PlayStation and get on Steam for the first time since the PS5 arrived almost a year ago.
Edit: there was a magazine I was missing on Fair Play, after the race, so I loaded it up via chapter select and gritted my teeth for serveral hours of attempts to haul myself around the track - turns out it's nowhere near as much of an ordeal if you're not using to make it through on Classic difficulty. Across the finish line in first place on the first attempt π±
No Man's Sky, new content has me hooked again.
Going to continue with my play through of tales of arise, enjoying it so far. Will also give riders Republic trial a go.
As usual, lots of FIFA 22 and Hades for me this weekend. Iβll try and fit some Ghost of Tsushima: Directorβs Cut in, too! Iβm 8 hours in, but FIFA and Hades are a constant source of distraction.
Nier:Automata for my single player itch and Far Cry 6 and Back 4 Blood for multiplayer.
I just dug the Silent Hill Collection on PS2 out of my old games press.
I never was able to finish 3. Maybe now that enough time has passed I'll be able to play through it without the constant need to stop and go to the bathroom, because that game really did scare the deuce out of me back in '07 or whenever that was.
Guardians of the galaxy! Received today surprisingly. Hopefully a fun single player story. Tales of Arise, level 60 and mopping up side quests. Metroid Dread, making steady progress. Happy gaming all
This weekend i'll be playing through theses games on multiple systems.
Ps4: Life is Strange: True Colours and Kena Bridge of Spirits
Xbox 1: Marvel Avengers and Far Cry 6
Switch: Metrriod Dread and Ender lilies Quietus of the Knight
@Tsushima my copy of guardians of the galaxy just dropped through my front door too! Nice surprise! Just installing it now and the 6gb day one patch! So that's me sorted for the weekend!
@Serialsid Misread it for a moment as the patch installation being your weekend π
Gave me a wry chuckle, anyway
Edit: I'll be interested to hear people's first impressions later in the weekend
@playstation1995 Itβs very good. The story about his friend Daphne is very moving. Look out for the two very unimpressed women in the audience though π€£ I watched Sticks & Stones again as soon as The Closer ended and laughed so hard. The guy is hilarious.
Decided to right my biggest wrong of the generation and complete Metal Gear Solid V. I never got to the end last time and deleted my save because I thought I'd uploaded it to the cloud.
Already had a run through Ground Zeroes in the week, now I'm going for the big one. Can't wait to get started.
Resi Evil 4 VR and Village: it's a great year for RE. Just like every year, lol.
Riders Republic trial: actually seems good, man. I'm definitely interested.
Maybe some Hot Wheels or Kena when winding down.
I'm playing the Riders Republic trial which is quite enjoyable to be honest. I'd get the game in a sale one day for sure.
I may also download the other PS trial games - Little Big Planet, Death Stranding etc and see how much game time I get on them once they've downloaded!
@theheadofabroom my Internet's not that bad π. I'll let you know how it plays! π
Got the plat for Lost Judgement. Back to Tales of Arise.
Started Resi 7 via the Plus Collection on Monday and was progressing nicely until confronted by quite possibly the Worst Boss Battle of All Time. I've been really enjoying the game up to this point, after playing Resi 2 & 3 remakes within the past year, starting to feel like a Resi veteran lol.
Will also continue dipping into AC Valhalla, had a brief encounter yesterday with some crazy woman after viper eggs. It gave me a good laugh!
@Dobbos Omg thanks, I forgot about this. Going to install now
@RedKnight34 Ender Lillies is a fantastic game. Loved it so much I got the platinum. Enjoy your day!
It takes two with the wife, MK11 story (forgot what a campy good time the MK stories have been since 9) and I need to get my Series S hooked back up since the move. Been missing me some gamepass
Far cry 6 on Ps5 π
I finished Kena yesterday, then moved back on to Deathloop.
Picked up Insurgency Standstorm on a bit of a whim and Iβm very glad I did. Runs beautifully on ps5 and the gun play is excellent, so Iβll be putting a few more hours into this over the weekend
Far Cry 6, and I think it will last me up to Christmas, hopefully long enough for the GTA remasters price to come down.
this weekend i will be playing The Riftbreaker
@Nyne11Tyme βit takes two with the wifeβ sounds way more dodgy than it needs to π
Playing more Final Fantasy 7 Remake. I might finish it this weekend, weβll see. I just spent 45 minutes trying to get the final pro pull-up challenge completed. What a pain! But I couldnβt give up and eventually beat the guy 42-41. Got myself a nice shiny bronze trophy for my efforts. π
Cyberpunk 2077. Loving it even more than my 1st playthrough. Some Insurgency: Sandstorm as well, online coop.
Finished Yakuza Kiwami a few days ago so I'll be making a start on YK2. Have a good weekend all!
I'm gonna finish days gone and go for the platinum..way underrated and fun game.
Switch: Metroid Dread, haven't rage quitted this much in a while.
Series S: Back4Blood, my favourite co-op. Having a lot of fun with this one.
PS5: Finally got my hands on one (wooo). I upgraded Death Stranding to Directors Cut and I love being back in that world.
Have a good weekend everybody.
I can't get the plat for far cry 6 until these stupid insurgents show up (one a week), so ill be finishing the Kena plat.
@fR_eeBritney. Definitely he is a legend.dave chapelle is too funny.haha.word up son.
Iβll get in some time with Control and Nier Automata on PS4. Probably throw in some Street Fighter V too.
Getting better at GG Strive and started A Plague Tale last night. Gonna be a good one.
Still playing through Alan Wake. I also started playing Wreckfest which is surprisingly enjoyable.
Iβve not been into driving games since GT2 and some of the earlier GTA games but Iβm loving this. Itβs got some great controller feedback and the in car view is great as it not only makes the game more challenging but also more fun as you canβt always see whatβs coming up so easily.
Now I just need to play it properly rather than just smashing stuff up π
Well I'm 48 hrs into Tales of Arise and I hope to get some good gaming time in as I have a long weekend.
FINALLY a day off tomorrow. Tales of Arise it is, then.
Maybe Alan Wake Remastered if the wife is in the mood for it. Otherwise, Iβm starting to get a little light in my backlog, so Iβm getting the desire to buy something new.
@Integrity I'm praying that's not a euphemism π€£π€£
@Iver I completely understand that thought. Given the state of things. Iβve had that thought recently myself.
@KingPev @Integrity pretty impressive if he's playing alone π
@MightyDemon82
I had it lined up for my Ps4 too but i decided to show my switch some love after Metriod
At the final boss of the original P5, I'm guessing after that I finally get into the majority of the new Royal content. So looking forward to it, it's been amazing revisiting this game with all the new extra features
@KingPev ...ummm ok....it's not....ish π
@MightyDemon82 to play the game alone you have to get creative π
Been playing the Riders Republic beta and am absolutely loving it!Only an.hours worth of playtime left but I'll definitely pick this one up at some point...or stick it on the birthday/Christmas list.
Will also be continuing the excellent Tales of Arise...just finishing up sidequests at moment before carrying on with the story.
Bought Cosy Grove last week which I'm enjoying alot.Very relaxing and I'm enjoying the change of pace.
On the Switch I've been playing Eastward.A great game that I nearly didant bother with.Glad I did,it will keep me going until Voice Of Cards next week!
Finished RE 2 remake this week. I enjoyed it but WHY does Leon move so slowly!!! Final boss was a little underwhelming but the final sequence of the game was pretty epic.
Not sure what to play next. Sekiro (gave up about ten hours in) Demon souls (2nd playthrough) AC Valhalla or Castlevania SoTN?
Far Cry 6, Resident Evil 8, and maybe some Luigiβs Mansion 3 if it comes in the mail today π
Working nightshifts this weekend, but hopefully I can get some Back 4 Blood in on Sunday night. If I'm not too tired that is!
I do hope Guardians Of The Galaxy turns out well next week, I'm craving that kind of game at the moment.
Oh, and I finished Far Cry 6. Which will be my last of those games, life is just too short!
@playstation1995 diablo 2 for me..i watched dave chappelle to see what all the furore was about and i found it controversal, very funny, moving and very clever in what he has done there..quite clearly to me that a certain movement did not watch it all..brilliant word up son.
I know Iβm on a PlayStation site but loving me some Mario odyssey again. I put it on for my daughter to play as I thought sheβd find it fun but have now taken over because Iβd forgotten how good it was. On the PlayStation side of things I might jump into PGA 2k21. Itβs a very decent game and fun to play with friends who are as bad as I am. Itβs no Tiger Woods 05 but what isβ¦.
@fR_eeBritney yes daphne..very moving..have not watched his other shows yet but they are on my watch list..after season 2 of locke and key..
Also, Iβll save myself the trouble of commenting next week, itβll be Ocarina of Time on the switch π
Welp, just got the platinum for Mafia: Definitive Edition. Now trying to figure out what to do with the rest of my weekend π€
@MightyDemon82 π€£π€£π€£
Will be playing Persona 4 Golden on PC, picked it up from CD keys for Β£8+. Plus, some Last of Us part 2 on PS4.
@Th3solution Man those squats and pullups are something else! Glad to see they kept the original charm, even building on it.
@Northern_munkey. I know right im glad hes made this.hes funny when you are a comedian you talk about everything.and he was clever taking shots on this instant classic.hahaππππ.haha.word up son
Been really enjoying The Great Ace Attorney: Resolve, on the 3rd case and itβs shaping up to be very interesting.
Also working my way slowly through Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart as well as Metroid Dread, I donβt want those shorter games to be over already!
1. Sword and Fairy 7 (surprised it was only $29, love the music)
2. Lost Judgement
We finished the story campaign in FarCry6. It is a blast Co-Op.
@Iver Thanks and it was driving me mad and I didnβt think it was even possible to beat that last guy. After dozens of attempts and averaging around 35, I tried the technique of turning the audio down to 0 for music and voices in the settings, which actually helped a lot. Then I said out loud, βup, down, left, rightβ¦β as I hit the appropriate buttons. Iβm sure I looked a fool doing it but it finally worked. π
And thatβs interesting because Iβm having a similar response to Aerith. In the original I didnβt much care for her and wondered what all the fuss was about, but in the remake I adore her! Her personality really shines. I was always a Tifa fan but now itβs much closer between the two. π
The excellent, Far Cry 6.
Resident Evil 2 (N64) - I've made it into the lab and helping Ada Wong.
Mahjong by Microsoft (Android) - Back to playing the daily challenges.
Rayman Fiesta Run (Windows Phone) - Starting on the candy levels.
@MightyDemon82 Both of the Ori games are so fantastic, always makes me happy when other people get into them! Also, really stoked for that huge Animal Crossing update in a couple weeks.
@Sheppard really good choices, I absolutely loved what they did with RE Village. Additionally, Luigiβs Mansion 3 is so beautiful on the Switch
Finally got around to Superliminal. It's wonderfully weird, and a great change from more realistic gameplay.
Edit: well that was short but sweet
nothing, as I'm taking a 1-2 week break from gaming. I want more elden ring news
Far Cry 6β¦ for the most part.
44 hours so-far, getting a βlittle bitβ tedious, but still a superb game IMHO ππΌππ»
Far Cry 6 on PS4 Pro. I am still on the first island holding back doing missions to explore to find weapons and materials needed to upgrade the weapons. I have one amigo, the gator, and the amount he helps varies from a little to a lot.
So far the game looks great, good frame rates, and the settings options are more than most console games have. Motion blur off, yes! That said there is still too small of text like when reading the letters and notes that are left in various locations. Using the PS4 zoom helps big. However subtitle size can be set larger and as white on a black background. Excellent!
My limited time with FC6 has me thinking i will end up enjoying FC5 more. FC6 may have a more varied map and more settings options, and look great with smooth frame rates, but FC5 will probably overall be more fun and with a more snappy play feel. More snappy as FC6 feels slow with button responses, especially bringing up the world map. I tried bluetooth and usb connections. Maybe a future patch will fix the button lag along with the silly low ammo carry limit and annoying process of using the photo mode.
Arkane Studios - Prey pretty good so far its just hard getting med kits lol
House of Ashes and when it's done I'll continue with Death Stranding Director'a Cut
Picked up Disciples: Liberation. So far, so great.
@ItsATM I've always wanted to play them but I couldn't justify buying another console for 2 games. I did try it on Gamepass but my PC wasn't up to the task as frame rate was awful.
Animal Crossing update just means less time on the Switch for me π
Iβm alternating between playing The Last of Us 2 and crying like a baby.
The Last of Us Part 2 and Castlevania Lords of Shadow. Feeling the spookies!
lost judgement doing a lot of grinding building up the flight moves. and enjoying the main quest and side ones. lots of fun!
The Last of Us Part 2 and Miles Morales.
2nd run of God of War.
A bit of Metroid Dread and the Last Guardian.
Nothing yet because I've been stuck at work, and most likely won't be gaming on my time off this week.
I need to binge watch 4 James Bond movies and 2 Halloween films on Tuesday so I can watch No Time to Die and Halloween Kills on Wednesday.
@Serialsid would love to get impressions when you have time
@theheadofabroom so far I'm really enjoying it on the whole. If you like the films I think they got the tone right. Lots of banter between the guardians and has made me laugh a few times. The dialogue does give you options, I'm only on chapter 3 so not sure how much it effects the story. But I had Drax throw rocket across a canyon and it told me rocket was pi##ed at me and would remember it. And I did help a character through a dialogue choice and they gave me something that could be very useful, so I do think it should have replayability.
Graphics wise I think it looks very good for the most part, and the characters look great. Runs lovely on my ps5 but I have had a few frame stutters(probably a patch will sort that). Combat is fun but I'm not blown away, very chaotic and so far it's been in small environments. That might change though and the characters do have lots of different moves to unlock in skill trees. They obviously fight the enemies, but you can command them to carry out special moves.
So far I'm really enjoying it and it gives me what I hoped it would, a fun experience and engaging story. It's at least an 8.
And best of all, no micro transactions ππ
@Serialsid Nice, sounds like one for the wish list, probably wait until a few patches time π
