Anyone else feel like this week has lasted an eternity? It's been a particularly slow and tedious seven days for the video game industry, with the sector in a bit of a summer slumber right now. Still, Gamescom is right around the corner, so there's lots to look forward to later in the month.

You know, I'm bouncing all over the place right now. I'm in the mood for Dead by Daylight at the moment, so I'll probably spend a chunk of my weekend playing that.
Stephen Tailby, Associate Editor
I haven't got much on the go at the moment, so I'll probably spend this weekend with MultiVersus and try to clear the remainder of the Battle Pass.
Annette Magaña, Reviewer
Gonna scratch that XCOM itch with the recent release of Hard West 2 before Marvel's Midnight Suns, but with the recent news that the DCEU is getting a do-over, I also want to revisit some good ol' DC games starting with Injustice 2. At least in the video game department DC is not a complete mess, right?
A tidy and tight WAYP this weekend, then. Of course, as always, we want to know what you're playing. Let us know in the comments section below.

I'm still chugging along with Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition on PS4 having clocked 44 hours so far with the end nowhere in sight! I'm now in an alternate dimension of the Faery realm where the elements have gone out of control trying to rescue a witch!
I've also started Yooka-Laylee and The Impossible Lair as a side game, playing a level or two when I feel like it. Very enjoyable and the overworld is fun to navigate with all it's little puzzles!
Have a good weekend everyone!
On my ps5 I'm finishing up the last trophies for Nights of Azure. Pretty decent action jrpg that's on Ps ++. Nothing spectacular but enjoyable enough. Once I'm done with that it's time for my first playthrough of God of war.
On my Xbox im playing Solasta crown of the magister. Not really used to playing isometric rpgs so it isn't really easy but it's doable once I look stuff up and this way I cna try games I normally wouldn't
Sunbreak: Spent over 100 hours in the expansion and am working on beating all of the available quests as well as making my mixed sets for my new favourite weapon the SwitchAxe.
Omno: A cute puzzle platformer sought of in the vein of a team asobo videogame, the art style is very lovely and vivid and the different animals you come across have charming designs.
Dinkum: An early access game that takes heavy inspiration by animal crossing, stardew valley and a hint of minecraft. Needless to say I've spent numerous hours trying to make my ideal island. This is all made by a single developer in just 4 years, which is incredibly impressive.
Thanks for reading and happy gaming😊
Hopefully get my speed run on Stray completed for the Plat, then onto TMNT Shredders Revenge and I can not wait
Also the football is back so treat myself to another McFred horror show on Sunday 😬
Still playing Ghostwire Tokyo, why does it have so many collectibles 😂😂😂.
So after watching the surprisingly brilliant movie ‘Prey’ yesterday (best ‘Predator’ movie since the original imo), I’ve been playing Fortnite with my Predator skin 😁
Cleaning up Doom Eternal DLC finally.
I'm clearing a bit of my backlog playing FFXII The Zodiac Age. The gambit system takes some getting used to but so far I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would. And the speed up option is very much appreciated.
I'm off sick at the moment so yesterday the only game I played was Little Wood on Switch which is actually really addictive.I've put nearly 15 hours into it so far.
If I eventually get out of bed I'll probably be continuing Ys Monstrum Nox which is pretty awesome.
Enjoy your weekend all.
Hit 100 plats last night, finishing Dirt 4 and the Ice Age scrat game that was added to PS+ extra. Going to play The Artful Escape and MXGP 21. Also bought the Czech run for a laugh as I'm away there on holiday next week. Have a good weekend all!
Youtubers Life 2 PS4 All Day Long. 😎
I have almost reached Diamond rank Youtubers (needs at least 1M subscribers) and stayed on 8th position of Top 100 Youtubers.
Tony hawk remastered on ps5. Enjoying the nostalgia
About 80 hours into my first playthrough of Elden Ring and my Level 120 Mage is getting close to the end game areas. Will try to get to and clear a certain large elemental enemy I’ve not heard too many nice things about.
With football back odds are I’ll get the urge for a bit of FIFA as well. Dortmund v Leverkusen should be a fun goalfest later and despite an underwhelming window so far for United (there’s only one 😉) hopefully ten Hag can bring some much needed joy to my weekends. Take care everyone!
I'm almost to 50 batteries on Demon Turf, so I'm going to try for that.
I got my Stray platinum yesterday and quite enjoyed the game. Today I should finish my resident evil 7 ps5 platinum, I must say this runs much better than the 2&3 ps5 upgrades. Then I need to decide to either start cyberpunk 2077 or guardians of the galaxy
@Fuzzymonkeyfunk I waited on the ps5 version and must say I absolutely loved Cyberpunk! Excited for when the DLC launches so I have reason to jump back in. Enjoy if that’s your next choice.
Rolling back the years with Tony Hawk’s and remembering what it feels like to want to smash my controller every five seconds 😂
On PS5 I will be playing Digimon Survive, I don't know how I feel abit the game yet, I can deal with the visual novel aspect but the fighting feels flat. I will also start Sword and Fairy together forever which is my first in that series, I've also rented lego star wars skywalker saga but that can wait.
On switch I will be continuing with xenoblade chronicles 3 which I'm taking my time with and in no rush to complete, especially with how far apart the dlc is being released. And I will try fit in some Rune Factory 5
On my series s I thought I'd try Gears of war ultimate edition which I've just completed and now started the House of Ashes
I'll be mounting up in RDR2 Online for most of the weekend, and a little bit of Factions as I've only got six weeks to go.
AC Origins. Picked up the complete edition for £9 a while back. Haven't played any of the DLC for this so looking forward to getting to that. Really enjoying playing as Byek again though after playing a load of Odyssey I find I'm killing him a lot by jumping from great heights, keep forgetting he's squishy and not Kassandra. Have a good weekend all!
Chipping away at the Red Dead Online trophies in the Collector role and loving how chilled it is. Stick a podcast on and just saunter across the plains while picking up collectibles.
Starting to pack for the big house move at the end of the month. But off out to catch up with an old friend, whilst Mrs MightyDemon sorts out Xmas stuff (fingers crossed she gets rid of most of it.)
If I get a bit of time tonight maybe some Guilty Gear Strive.
Pathologic 2, an immersive horror sim set over 12 days where you play as a doctor in a plague-stricken eastern European town where everyone speaks in riddles. Yeah its pretty weird, but very unique as well.
A Robot Named Fight!, a roguelike metroidvania with pixel graphics and some good old Turrican vibes. Despite some minor gripes with the controls, it's quite enjoyable.
I said "you know what, screw everything! Lemme just go continue my 4th run and mosey with Arthur Morgan in Scarlett Meadows." M A S T E R P I E C E.
I'm done with my AC Odyssey 2nd run but trying to get a few more trophies and then it's back in my SLS, 'Rrari etc for a few races in GT Sport.
I'm going to be playing "Robocop vs. Terminator" on the Megadrive. The fond nostalgia is strong for this one so I hope it's not total pants.
On Ps5 Im playing Chernobylite and House Of Ashes. On Laptop Im playing Multiversus, Crysis 2, State Of Decay 2 and Generation Zero. Series X In Sound Mind. Switch Live A Live and Neon White
Kingdom Come: Deliverance I just can't help myself. It's too damn good still. I have a Henry that hits 20 peak Charisma when he's nice and clean, and I've only recently been drinking with Father Godwyn (I had to say I'd fight him for information and then quickly back out of it to trigger the side quest 😅)
I was going to try out some Tony Hawk's for nostalgia, after trying the tutorial last week, but not sure how much I'll be playing this weekend anyway, and Henry will take priority.
I did start Spider-Man on plus extra a while back, but kind of stopped playing that (Wow does that game ever wreck the eyes swinging through the city 😵) Pretty sure I've seen a YouTube playthrough when it was first out anyway. I might play it in bursts to get to a point where I can try the Miles Morales game on extra though.
Tales of Arise, it's finally made it off of the backlog
Finally got my hands on a physical copy of Ys 8: Lacrimosa of Dana on PS4, so that's most likely what I'll be playing.
@Royalblues I absolutely loved gears 5 and the hive busters dlc. It was the first gears I played. It is still one of the best looking games out there and the gameplay is pretty awesome.
I'm also up for Elden Ring next. Tried Sekiro and failed miserably at that, but I heard Elden Ring is supposed to be a lot easier since you're not limited to parry like in Sekiro. I'm usually terrible in those type of games and get easily frustrated but I wanna see what all the hype is about. So will go about it slowly and over level a lot probably haha, but yeah I'm curious to see if I can get the same feeling as others get with it, seeing im not a fan of challenging games normally. But as you say the only way to figure out is to try
Yazuka like a dragon
Nioh 2 with all the dlcs. One of the best games ever.the combat is amazing.the graphics looks good.especially on my ps4 pro.the story is cool also.easily in my top 10 favorite games that i ever play.watching legendary sitcoms 📺 tv comedy in living color.good times.sanford and sons.saved by the bell and martin.word up son
I think I will travel today, so I will play less. If I find the time, I will do the Assassin's Creed IV Black Flag DLC, play some Tony Hawk 1+2, mop some remaining trophies in Horizon FW. Let's see what the weekend brings!!
@JudgeDredd - Same here mate, I've died from falls in the Souls series more than I have to any enemy. I'm just so used to Kassandra being able to leap off anything it's taking a while to adjust to Byek. Thankfully SSD load times ease the pain!
The fantastic, zany, tear jerking and heartfelt, Yakuza: Like A Dragon
Also watching all the footy with the return of the Prem season. It's back baby!
This week I am tackling The Surge 2 and Nioh 2. Both games are great in their own right.
The Surge 2 is definitely easier since as soon as you got parrying dialed in everything feels like a breeze except for some bosses. Nioh 2, on the other hand, is much harder in my experience. Lots of game mechanics to keep track of and master.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 if I’ve got time. The Quarry perhaps. After what feels like forever trying to play it, I’m actually halfway through chapter 7. I’m ready to finish it. Might play some Freshly Frosted too for total contrast and relaxation.
Far Cry 6 (free weekend) and Assassin's Creed Odyssey. I LOVED it. Probably in my top 3 AC games.
(MAIN) Spider-Man Miles Morales
(SIDE) Ultimate MvC3
I’ll be whacking away in Xenoblade Chronicles definitive edition all weekend shouting Menudo or Ford Mondeo anytime Shulk and friends mentions that silly sword.
@Lavalera Elden Ring is likely much easier than Sekiro. You got so much at your disposal. It’s open world for starter, meaning you can farm levels and whatnot if you’re stuck. Second, there’s always the option go the magic route, which is somewhat OP in Dark Souls games.
I’ve got Sekiro coming up next myself, we’ll see how I fare… Getting on with Nioh 2 pretty good at the moment.
I'll be playing Cyberpunk 2077. I'm glad I waited for the PS5 version because I'm really really enjoying it. I'm at work right now, but I'm looking forward to getting home to play it.
Probably some yakuza like a dragon ,I'm less than 2 hrs into this so far but really enjoying it ,I hadn't played any of the series before and is taking me by surprise ,just goes to show don't judge a book by its cover as you never know what you will enjoy and maybe abit of gt7 as well but not to much gaming this weekend as weather is to gd so will be spending a gd deal of time outside on my bike with some food and drink to go
I’ve just finished Stray. The game was pretty good, with some gorgeous graphics, especially the lighting. I think PushSquare’s rating of 8/10 was spot on. I’ve now started Raji an ancient epic, which I’m not sure about so far. Still playing F1 2022, AC Origins (though may switch to Odyssey soon). On my Switch I’m playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and Mario Kart 8, thanks to wave 2 of the booster pack courses!
My journey with Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition on my Switch continues. I've enjoyed it after a week with my Switch.
@Relygon yeah the open world is what draws into it and makes me a lot more confident that I'm able to do it. I just have to use a different mindset, I just have to go out there and try stuff instead of being "scared" I will die all the time.
I've been reading into beginners builds and from what I've read magic is more for soul veterans which I ain't at all, besides Sekiro I never played a from soft game. From what I've seen Samurai or Vagabond were supposed to be easy beginner classes since the equipment or stats you start with. I know I can always switch to magic later on but I think it will be trial and error which class will suit me best.
Good luck when you're going to play Sekiro I see the good game in it, it just can be tough if you're bad as timing stuff haha
@Royalblues it's around 3 hours and if you play the game pass version it is even included (which normally never happens with dlc lol). I'm not even the biggest shooter fan, but the Coalition is such a great studio. From what I've heard they are working on another game before gears 6 so curious to see what they are up to now.
The open world without icons and quest markers makes me feel like a headless chicken haha. I'm so used to the map full of icons that when I look at Elden ring videos I'm like, so ok how do you even know where to go lol. But that's a different mind set since it's more chose your own adventure. The slower approach is also what I'm going to try and do. Good luck and have fun with the playthrough, hope you enjoy it more on your 2nd try
@Lavalera I would STRONGLY disagree with that advice about beginner builds. Almost done Elden Ring, my first souls game, and I went with a magic build. Can’t imagine attempting this with a melee build, I’d be so screwed.
I finally platinumed Horizon Forbidden West! Amazing game, my GoTY so far. I tried Stray but wasnt feeling it. Now me and some buddies are Jumping into Monster Hunter Iceborne, so much fun with friends!
Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin. Phew, that was a mouthful
I switched ISPs recently, and for the first time ever my internet connection is stable enough for PS Now. I've been replaying God of War Ascension, and I'm starting to remember that it's super underrated.
@Lavalera Eh, I got to disagree with magic being for Souls veterans. I’d say they usually consider using magic as “cheating” or being “easy mode”.
But you’re completely right, trial and error is the way to go to find your preferred play style. As mentioned, you can always change your mind and respec (not right away but a bit later into the game).
Best of luck friend!
I've been playing River City Girls. It's a ton of fun. Once I finish RCG I'm not 100% sure what I'm going to play afterwards.
Returnal for me. I can't seem to put it down. Think I'm doing well enough, biome 3 boss and have 16 deaths.
@Lup I'm playing AC from II onwards (there isn't AC 1 in the current generation). I'm on IV right now, but I platined Odyssey 2 years ago, and for me is still the best. Love Kassandra so much!! That game is a masterpiece!!
GT7. Finished the licenses at Gold, and the main menus, so just have to grind out some online races and earn another 4 million approx. Should be able to get the trophy campaign finished apart from the one that needs me to Buy the 3 legendary cars. Will have the money but just need to wait for it to rotate in.
@freddquadros Yeah, they should do something about AC 1. It's not the best imo but it's weird that is the only one trapped in last gen.
I knew I was gonna love Odyssey, but it even surpassed my expectations! Probably gonna play it again after finishing it.
Finished Ghost of Tsushima’s DLC. Eagle storyline was brilliant. So some cleanup on collectibles. Dusted off Tales of Arise. Forgot how much I hate the spike between enemies and bosses. But love the entire aesthetic of that game.
On Switch finally finished the demo for Triangle Strategy so I bought the whole shebang since I can’t get enough of it. So that and the first AI will keep me busy.
Still want more Weird West on GamePass as I loved what I played.
@GuttyYZ that’s incredible. Biome 3 was the walk for me. Once I busted through that after 38 deaths I cleaned four five and six in just a few runs. Fantastic game.
I picked up the complete edition of LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 in the most recent PSN store sale for $9 so I’m playing through that in co-op w my son. Absolutely incredible amount of content for the money!
Took a while but I finally got the plat for Utawarerumono Prelude to the Fallen. I really didn't expect to come out emotionally invested in the story but damn when it hits, it hits hard. The characters are lovable and the music is underrated. The gameplay still wasn't anything complex for an srpg but it did it's job to be fun. I just wish you could skip animations for when you just want to speed past certain parts. I'm glad I picked up both the 2nd and 3rd games before their prices get absurd
I'll still be using my PS5 but it'll get a few moments of well earned rest so I can start Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Loved 1 and mostly loved 2, I want to see how exactly 3 concludes their story even if I still find the character designs awful
@Lup Praying that they announce a remaster/remake when they reach the AC1 Week in the 15 years celebration. And they release a patch for Syndicate on PS5 too.
Tony hawks 1+2 as i fancied something different from hack'n'slash and rpg type games..really slick and i'm enjoying it..have a good weekend everybody 👍
Multiverse and the Capcom Fighting Game Collection. Maybe King of Fighters 15.
Well HFW maybe some bloodborne and then some cod !
@freddquadros Yeah I've had a lot of fun with AC Odyssey, I feel Alexios is just as equally good as Kass. I almost bought Origins but responsibilities.
Game & Watch Gallery (GB) - Going to play Oil Panic, but will play Fire as well.
Mahjong by Microsoft (Android) - Continuing my August medals run.
Make It Rain: The Love of Money (Windows Phone) - Still playing here and there.
@TheArt There are very good sales featuring Origins, and maybe we will get it on Ubisoft + soon!!!
I've been playing ARK.
Building a house and occasionally smacking a dinosaur over the head.
Bliss.
@Deadlyblack one of my favorites of last gen. The music sets the whole experience off.
Finishing up the Spider-Man Remastered DLC and then moving on to God of War. I just got a PlayStation and I’m loving it so far. If any of you lovey people would like to add me as a friend my PSN Id is the same as my name here.
My partner had a spinal operation a couple of weeks ago so not been in work due to looking after her and has got me some good time to do some gaming and other interests
Watched the palace game last night the Falkirk game today less said about both the better
Evercade-xeno crisis
Xbox-gears 5 and deaths door
Ps5-kena
Lego-atari 2600 build
Happy sitting around doing my favourite things while waiting on the missus to ask me to get her something 😊
World of Final Fantasy
Thanks to ps plus extra subscription
I bought a Switch OLED, so been downloading my digital library of games I bought for the Lite, to see how they look on the fancy new screen. Doom 3 looks particularly nice.
Have been umming and arring about getting ps++ all week because I wanted to play Miles Morales. Had a ***** day so as I got paid, i ordered it. And now I have to wait 3 hours for it to download. Ergh.
EDIT: Oh no, not 3, it's gone up to 19 hours.
I'm going to bed.
I've been playing Stray but I started getting this annoying screen flickering. I had the same problem with Forbidden West but it stopped after a console restart.
I haven't restarted yet as it's currently in rest mode. Hopefully a full restart will solve the issue.
Getting back into Mafia III and very much enjoying it. Also trying to help my other half get through the Forgotton Saga DLC for AC Valhalla.
Ive been picking at Bright Memory Infinite. I like it! Its a fun silly shooter with some arcady powers. Its an actual video game that would have felt at home on PS3. Im also dipping in and out of my carrer in WRC 9. This last week I also finally went through and used the in system guides and finished up the Platinum for Astros Playroom. Still think its the best PS5 game. Over on Series X I’ve been having fun with Lonely Mountain Downhill. And playing through Gears of War Judgement for the first time. Its been a fun week and weekend of some chill gaming. Have a great weekend!
About 12 hours into Torchlight 2, prefer the first one but 2 is still good fun.
Finished up Spider-Man and dlc, just smashed through Until Dawn in one sitting with the wife (managed to keep 3 alive, quick replay of last chapter resulted in 6)
Nearly done with I am dead, then onto, in no set order, heavy rain, death stranding and ghost of Tsushima.
Finally got around to playing Game of Thrones Telltale game, up to Ep 3. Playing the odd level of Volume here and there, I'm up to 75% on story campaign. Also may play some of the Forgotten Saga DLC on AC Valhalla.
I finished off the last of us remastered (couldnt put it down lol). On to part 2 and im ready for two point campus aswell.
Pardon my (probably extreme) ignorance but what game is the top image from? Is it a Batman title?
I’m trying to make the most of my new PS + Premium sub. I’ve downloaded a new game for every day. So far, I’ve played (obviously not completed any): Ys VIII, Gravity Rush Remastered, Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Spirit of the North (worst game of the lot IMO) and today I’ve played 6 chapters of Syphon Filter. It’s taken me the majority of my playtime to just get used to the PS1 controls again. But I’m having fun! Tomorrow I think might be Returnal. I’ve always tried Multiversus which is a lot of fun (only really played as Wonder Woman who plays a lot like Link in Super Smash Bros.).
@Royalblues Noah Caldwell-Gervais does in my opinion the best video essays about games.
@Mostik You catch any of the pre-season games? I'd be surprised if Fred and McTominay both start this afternoon. I reckon Fred will play deep with Eriksen and Bruno making up a midfield 3
@Zemo55 I did mate & was quite positive a couple of weeks ago but I've gotten nervous again! Fred and Eriksen would be my choice too, will be very interesting to see what he does with Ronnie, I am liking Ten Hag so far, takes no messing and play looks more structured 🤞
@GagaOooLaLa
Cheers for the heads up on Prey - I did not knew they did another predator film that has actually reviewed well. Is it only on Hulu?
Sat down to start Stray proper but the credits then rolled so went back to the ring thing. Theory is, if you get the fatigue take a couple months off is then like a new game that you already know the controls of.
@Lumic yeah, I believe it is on Hulu in the US. It’s on Disney Plus in the UK. I really enjoyed it.
@GagaOooLaLa
I’m all over that tonight.
That was a busy weekend. Some Miles Morales, THPS 1 and finished off with some Stray. Good times!
@freddquadros Lemme know how Tony Hawk is! I've been thinking of trying it out sometime tomorrow or Tuesday if I have free time.
As for my AC Revelations playthrough, I'm nearing the end now. On Sequence 7 out of 9.
I'm currently taking a break to watch Locke & Key, Season 3 (Final) drops this Friday.
Insurgency sandstorm. I'm one return to sender grenade off a platinum. Which would be my first. I've owned every PlayStation since ps1, I am ashamed.
@KidBoruto THPS is a little harder than I remember, but the muscle memory from the PS1 days is kicking. The game is gorgeous, feels good to play. Very worthy of the brand, lots of content too!
I got the platinum from Horizon Forbidden West yesterday, but I will play it more to clear the map. Horizon is that good.
I already beaten the main campaign of AC 4, now I'm playing the Freedom Cry DLC and them return to get the plat. At least we don't need to get all the collectibles in that one.
I will start the Sandman show today. Couldn't in the weekend.
@freddquadros Glad to hear you're getting the hang of THPS! I think what attracted me to the game was my cousin, plus the Spider-Man cameo. Shame the remake doesn't have him in it.
Grats on platinuming Forbidden West! Game must be massive if there's still more of the map to be revealed.
So close to AC Rogue and Unity! Hope it's an easier plat for you.
Locke & Key has been great, I highly recommend watching the series! I'll get around to Sandman after I watch Umbrella Academy.
@KidBoruto I played THPS 3 and 4 to death on PS1. Even unlocked Wolverine on 3 (finding all gaps)! They brought the gameplay inovations of those ones to this remake, the experience is quite smoother.
Horizon is quite forgiving in the trophies aspect, it doesn't demand to do everything in the game. And yes, the game is HUGE, and the content is high quality. No repetition.
Black Flag plat is achievable. The thing is only the multiplayer ones, but I think I can do them too, as there is people playing it yet. I'm doing the DLC now.
Thanks, gonna check L & K!! Already watched Umbrella, great season. Sandman is amazing, saw 4 eps on monday. High quality!
