The release calendar has really gone hard this year, and while May is looking a little quieter, it shows no signs of slowing in June. If you're not picking up Star Wars this week, then it may be a good opportunity to work on your backlog.
Jamie O'Neill
Time Extension recently published a What's the Best Wonder Boy Game? readers' poll, so to acknowledge Wonder Boy in Monster World currently sitting in third place out of seven choices, I'll happily replay this 1991 Mega Drive game on the PS4's Wonder Boy Collection.
Khayl Adam
I’m continuing on with Dead Island 2, trying to be a responsible adult and resisting the urge to just pick up the shiny new Star Wars game. Slow and steady, everything in its proper time!
Liam Croft
Alongside working on some Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Trophies, I'll be getting back to my Octopath Traveler II playthrough. The backlog continues to grow, but I've got to finish this lovely JRPG!
Sammy Barker
I've gone and got myself hooked on Honkai: Star Rail, so I'll probably spend the weekend on that, between various other chores I need to sort out.
Scott McCrae
I'm away again this weekend so more Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp and wishing I was playing the Street Fighter 6 demo for me.
Simon Fitzgerald
This weekend I’ll be whipping out my light beam sword and waving it around in my living room. It's up to you to decide whether I’m playing Beat Saber, the latest AAA hit game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, or if I’m just cosplaying Luke Skywalker again. Hint: it’s definitely not the latter.
A much lighter WAYP this week after a bunch of bumper ones this month, so be sure to take a moment to flesh out the comments section of this article and tell us what you're playing.

For this weekend I will be continuing with StarCraft 64 ... I am obsessed with it even more than on PC back in the days!
It is time to put more effort in Skyward Sword.
I also have not played on the PS1 for a very long time! And the only game I have for now is Crusaders of Might and Magic
Happy gaming!!!
PS: Remnant From the Ashes was fun to play in short sessions and might play it again but I have so much going on and on May the 12th only one game will dominate everything else!
Horizon Burning Shores - finished the DLC and Im really impressed (I know, I’ve said it a million times). Looks and plays awesome. Will keep revisiting just to fly around and enjoy the world they built!
Tchia - finished the story. Decent game, some parts were great and others not so great, but all in all good enough for me to play through
Kayak VR - managed to get gold on the Kings Canyon olympic track, that was quite a workout. Only trophy left now is to paddle for another 50 km, which I’ll do in shorter and more relaxed sessions, which is where the game is most enjoyable
Creed - platinumed it, really fun. A bit easier than the PSVR version but no less of a workout. Looking forward to more PVP games, still undefeated 😎🥊
GT 7 VR - still working on getting gold on all license races, got like 5 left. Its pretty hard (for me at least but I might just suck) so when I get that gold its so rewarding.
Bramble - picked this up yesterday. Its an indie game with swedish folklore made by a swedish team and Im swedish so it was a given. But its pretty good, enjoyed the first hour and looking forward to play more. Theres a demo if you’re curious about the game.
Was going to pick up Jedi Survivor but I’ll probably wait for some patches. Probably wont play Redfall at launch either except trying it maybe. Currently downloading Benedict Fox on the series S and that I’ll play for sure
Monster Hunter Rise DLC.
3rd day with the PS5 Horizon forbidden west I'm still in shock at how good this machine is
Horizon burning shores then I might start Jedi survivor. Deep stone crypt and vault of glass raid tonight
Mostly Final Fantasy VI I think! I have lots to play, but I’m in the mood for that.
Switch: Xenoblade 3 Future Redeemed. It is sooo good! 10/10. Perfect. Seriously.
PS5: Nothing, obviously.
Series S: See PS5.
Uncle Rex got my full attention.
Ghostwire Tokyo. The story is just okay but I love the combat. Not complex, fast, and fun. Wish the quests were more than “fight this group”. But I’m having fun with it in general!
I’ve been taking my sweet time with the fabulous Resident Evil 4 remake, and I’ll be doing more of the same this weekend. Please don’t end.
Dunno. I’ll probably play something. I might start Fallen Order. I might finally work on Coffee Talk. I might just jump into the Pixel Remasters. I might try Benedict Fox. It might be to polish off Future Redeemed. All I know is that I work the weekend and I’ll be trying Redfall on Tuesday.
Well my thumb is still sore but i can play my ps5. Wrapping up steelrising (3rd playthrough) and i have hfw waiting to go..i also caved in and bought pga road to the masters as i just couldnt wait any longer..no golf for me other than that and no guitar 😭. Have a brilliant bank holiday folks 👍
Played no more than 2 minutes of Star Wars Survivor yesterday so ahead of a bumper F1 weekend, I’ll be playing that. It looks incredible.
Leinster v Toulouse in the afternoon.
Other than that, I have a few collectibles left to pick up in Burning Shores and then I'll be going back to Jedi: Survivor for the long weekend.
Backlog:
I'll be switching between Dead Island 2 and Star Wars Jedi Survivor really enjoying what I've played of both maybe play some more Burning Shores or PGA Tour too.
On PS5 i will be playing some more of the awesome God of war Ragnarok, currently 11 hours in and exploring Vanaheim, so many side quests on this map. I have also just bought the new Project zero and Robotics Note Elite from the Golden week sale.
On Switch I will be playing Bayonetta Origins and Harvestella, I will also be jumping back onto Fire Emblem Engage to start the DLC which I'm quite looking forward to.
I tried mopping up trophies on Hogwarts Legacy for the plat but screw that. Life's too short ha ha. I enjoyed it immensely but could never replay it. It reminds me of the old Fable games on Xbox
So I started Forspoken I'm now 2 chapters in and I'm not sure what to make of it yet. It screams 6/10 though
Also loving MK11 ..a superb fighter and a great looker on PS5, nearly finished the Aftermath expansion
Have a great weekend guys and gals ❤️
Was going to play Jedi Survivor but the fps is horrendous once you get out of the tutorial planet that I simply can't tolerate the state this game launched in. If this was just on pc sure, thats the norm right now with pc ports, but this is on consoles too and it's flat out unplayable. Blurry image clarity, literally making this look worse than Fallen Order and sub 20 fps in the open world and cutscenes means I'm going to be forced to wait to play the game I paid for that should have been delayed a couple weeks, not to mention EA half a#sed the physical version where I swear the disk only held about 20 GB of the 150 to install the game, literally had to wait over 3 hours for the game to finish installing using my phone data because Australian home internet is so bad that you literally get the download speed at 1/5 of the advertised speed giving me 5 mbs compared to my phone plan which was 4 times faster, which also costs less than my home internet. AHHHHHHH. The actual game is really good though 😂
Work today so not as much as i would like! Resident evil 4, just finished chapter 5 and the mixture of action and horror is so good. I can't play for more than 45-60 mins in a sitting as its just too tense! Hopefully some more Kentucky route zero too, just got to act 3 and its so weird yet compelling. Like who would think to make a point and click adventure that mashes up twin peaks and a Michael Moore documentary on capitalism?? Have a good one folks
@R1spam i got the platinum for Kentucky Route Zero in lockdown. Thought it was a load of pretentious twaddle ha ha
@KingPev haha hey maybe by the end, that's were I land too but just now, I'm really digging it 🙈.
Trying to wrap up Octopath 2 before Zelda! Nearly finished my 4th story. Not sure I’ll make it if I am honest, depends how this weekend goes. Hopefully I can split my gaming time if I don’t.
Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Future Redeemed this weekend. Amazing DLC, Monolith Soft never misses
And when I finish I'll be sure to jump back into FE Engage which I started playing again before the DLC dropped as it got caught with many other releases from earlier in the year like Persona 4 Golden, Like A Dragon Ishin and Octopath Traveler II
Ultimate Spider-man on my gamecube! i lost the game forever ago , but guess what ? i bought another copy off ebay and it’s in perfect condition ! it was delivered this friday and i couldn’t be happier. it has the game case, a scratch less disc , the game manual , and even the nintendo gamecube manual in it !
my childhood is restored ! i plan to finish it before the weekends over
I have another week off work and two wonderful bank holidays ahead of me. So Im sorting through my backlog to try and figure out what to play. I’m thinking of finally staring Jedi: Fallen order.
Installed the 154gb behemoth that is Jedi: Survivor but will finish up Burning Shores first as the spoilers for it are all over the place and I'm tired of ducking and diving to avoid them.
Had a week off and unfortunately back next week but it's given me time to finish the excellent Resident Evil 4 Remake.Took me 35 hours on normal,a big difference from the 11 hours for Resi 3 Remake!
I put Octopath Traveller 2 aside for now and changed back to Hogwarts Legacy which I'm 47 hours and thought I was near the end but literally just unlocked another part of the map.Absolutely loving it still!
On the Switch I'm still playing Mario and Rabbids 2 but I'm just not into it,it's not a patch on the first game and I got Dragon Quest Treasures I really want to start too.
Enjoy your week all!
Still a joy to play Valhalla, not feeling no bloat at all because I enjoy everything about the gameplay. Beat GoT, on Iki Island now though game still feels like a chore sometimes I can't explain why. Funny how I'm stuck on Rom in 2023 when I easily beat him back then - Bloodborne. Then maybe some Elden Ring or whatever else.
@R1spam it's certainly unique! Enjoy mate
@nomither6 ooh those days bring back memories 🥹🥹
I got the Fallen Order Platinum yesterday so I'll see how far I can get with Survivor now that I've sorted the HDR out. Hopefully the frame rate issues won't annoy me too much...
Im playing the amazing vanquish.the fantastic alan wake.the excellent ni no kuni wrath of the white witch remastered.and the wonderful persona 5 royal.im watching the nba playoffs its been fun.my boston Celtics 💚🖤 🏀won.i will be watching legendary sitcoms comedy 📺 tv shows in Sanford and son.good times.the Jeffersons.saved by the bell.and the wayans brothers.word is bond.word life.word to god.word to your mother.word up son
Ps5 Jedi Survivor Dead Island 2 Dredge Burning Shores Resident Evil 4 Dead Space. Will definitely check out Redfall next week then Zelda coming up
Was planning on Cosmonious High, Tetris Effect, and Moss 2, but I haven’t been able to drag myself away from Cosmonious High. It’s like being inside a 90’s cartoon and so much to do and work out. Loving it.
I've finished the story in Spider-Man and I'm trying to decide whether to finish all the crimes and various other map icons, move straight on to Miles Morales, or take a break and start Kena.
What do you all think? Will going straight into MM just mean I'm burned out on the franchise before I'm finished, or does it keep things fresh and introduce enough new stuff to keep things interesting?
I’m giving Cult of the Lamb another go…couldn’t really get into it first time around but making better progress this time…and a bit of Blacktail if I get time
It's all Jedi Survivor for me. I put in a good 4-5 hours yesterday and absolutely loved every second of it! Thankfully haven't really had many performance issues though there was one time where a big monster enemy was about to charge at me only to pop out existence.
I just chalked it up to the force looking out for me and moved along.😄
It's Star Wars Jedi Survivor weekend!! What a thrilling game, oh my Force!! I will play it more than anything probably, but I plan to continue HFW Burning Shores too, as I will habe a holiday on monday, thank God.
Riders Republic, The Surge 2, Saints Row 4 and A Way Out for a very eclectic gaming weekend.
Hi there fellow gamers, been a while;
This weekend I´ll be playing Jedi Survivor on my PS5.
Loving it so far even though there are some performance issues in the more open areas of the game.
And I´ll also be playing the KOFXV open cross play beta and Forza Horizon 5 on my Series X.
It´s been great coming back to FH5, doing some exploration and some races. And as for KOFXV I´m just hoping they can finally fix the matchmaking problems on all platforms.
Cheers, stay safe good people and happy gaming weekend to us all
@enrickUranium I was on the fence about cult of the lamb but gave the trial ago and the hour flew by so bought it and my cult's not doing too well but I'm enjoying it so far
Silent Hill, and maybe Digital Devil Saga 2 on PS3 (I don't know what I'd do without backwards compatibility), and Danganronpa on Vita.
Snowrunner. It's tough, gruelling, torturous, unbelievably frustrating and the slowest game in the world ...yet it's one of the most endearing and brilliantly addictive games I've ever experienced.
It has bugs, it has flaws, it's truly the Dark Souls of driving games if you can still use that analogy ...but I keep coming back every single day to deliver those stupid bricks or metal beams, tipping over and losing it all, driving all the way back again taking 20 minutes, tipping over again on the way, cursing out the game and developers, driving over there yet again, taking half an hour to get it all back with the world's slowest crane, then slowly crawling through the most atrocious mud hell imaginable for a few experience points and dollars just to do it all over again.
1. Horizon Burning Shores (PS5)
2. Jedi Survivor (PC)
Simply fantastic back to back releases. Good times.
This weekend I’m playing Dead Island 2. The game is simply dumb fun. Sometimes, I’d rather play a solid 15-20hr linear experience that doesn’t take itself too seriously instead of an emotionally gripping narrative driven game, or a long winded RPG. I’m having a lot of fun with the game, and I find the flesh system quite grotesque and impressive all at once. I’m really looking forward to finishing this one.
I do want to play Star Wars Jedi: Survivor but with Redfall releasing soon, I don’t want to juggle too many games all at once. I’ll probably hold off until mid-summer or so. There are just too many games I’m interested in that are releasing so soon together.
As for my other hobby - I’ve read a few more graphic novels and comics. My list includes:
Batman: Hush
Watchmen
Local Man #1-3 (awesome new series!)
Green Arrow #1 (Dawn of DC) by Josh Williamson - It was very compelling for a first issue, and I’m excited to see what’s next. JW is a very good writer. Also: chainsaw arrow; that is all, folks.
All Eight Eyes #1
Worldtr33 #1
Alien #1
No/One #1
I have Frank Miller’s Daredevil: Born Again arriving in the mail soon. Once I read that I’m going to jump into Chip Dzarsky’s current run of DD. I have the first few volumes, and I’ll probably buy the rest until I’m caught up completely.
First full free weekend in months, so it wil be Black Flag, currently I've completed 87% of the story. I might try Monster Hunter after collecting it just before Sony took away the freebies.
I'm still taking my sweet time with Aloy in the Burning Shores. Best looking game out there and they somehow improved it!
I gave a Plague Tale Innocence a try but didnt really like it.
@theheadofabroom Go for it! Spider-man 2 is months away and it will be hard going back to MM after playing it. Just take a good "palette cleanser" game afterwards and you'll be good 👍🏽 Turnbased games usually do the trick for me.
@playstation1995 BEST. WEEKEND. EVER.
@3Above to be fair I'll likely wait on a sale for the second game. I'm currently saving Burning Shores, for instance, to play when I've got time to do it all in one go, so there's plenty in my backlog, but if you think that going straight through to MM would be fine even if I was looking forward to playing 2 asap, that probably tells me I'm good to play straight through
NBA 2k23 I wanted to try to learn how to play point guard instead of center this year, but it didn't seem to want to let me actually run any plays on Mycareer. Also, I chose 12 minute quarters but then realised in my first career game it's locked in at 5, so my first game is just 2 minutes of not running plays and not being able to hit 3 pointers with a 60 rating player, so it seems a bit silly, I quit out to try and sort the settings but I was locked into the game warm ups, so I think I'll just have to take the fact my first game will be absolutely rubbish and I can't change the settings for that 😅 never tried a franchise mode in the game, so might do a Boston Celtics game, as I'm pretty at home with how the team plays, so that might be a better way to learn point and other positions
What else? Who knows. Immortals: Fenyx Rising is pretty good fun, so probably that 🔥
Playing Kena, Riders republic and Crooked crown table of tales.
@thefourfoldroot1 Great to Cos High is good because it looked a bit meh to me.
Going for Platinum trophy on Last of Us II then onwards with Octopath Traveller on me switch👍🏻
Happy times😁
@theheadofabroom For me I played MM about 2yrs after Spiderman PS4 and felt like it would have been better as a direct continuation. Be careful for Burning Shores Spoilers, they are everywhere! 😑
@KingPev yessir !
@Vil this description alone may have sold me on it. I’ve often wanted to get into those games but lack the time and effort to learn the systems. Maybe with that mindset as a Souls gamer I’ll enjoy it more!
For me RE4 Remake. Chapter 12 of 16. I can taste the end at this point.
Then wrap up Burning shores. I’m on the penultimate quest and realizing it’s not Aloy that gets me through these games, but rather the gameplay. It feels so good to try and pick apart the machines.
Lastly, I swear I’m going to get through Midnight Suns more and hopefully finally experience for the first time FF1-6. I’ve played 7-9 and some of 13, but I’ve got some gaps to fill in before 16 just because I love the series.
Watch Dogs Legion & maybe some Horizon Forbidden West
Still plugging away at Midnight Suns
PS5- WWE 2K23 and Final Fantasy VII Remake
Switch- Cannon Dancer and Fire Emblem Engage
Series X- Disney Dreamlight Vally and Street Fighter 6 Demo.
About 20 hours in to my replay of Skyward Sword on Switch. Enjoying the game a lot more than I did on Wii, and remembering why I prefer the older more linear 3D Zelda games to Breath of the Wild, which I could not get in to.
@theheadofabroom I got the platinum in both, but could not imagine playing them back to back. Both are excellent games, but it would be too much to play one after the other. Just my humble opinion. Again, I thought both were excellent and I am looking forward to Spider-Man 2!
@ErrantRob I'd say it's very close to Dark Souls mechanically. It's the toughest of love. You tip over, you lose everything you carry (essentially a death), there are no instant rewind or retries. No save scumming either. You have to start all over, get a crane and drive across the entire map (which are all massive) to your own mess to pick it up again, very slowly, through mud and bumps that can tip you over again and again very easily, which could easily mean ...you have to go all the way back again. Despite this, it's so endearing and addictive as when you finally get those goods back and deliver them, whatever pitiful reward you get feels so earned. You worked so hard to deliver those dumb bricks or whatever, but finally you earn some EXP and level up until you unlock some mildly better tires, trucks and engines, move on to an even worse region and do it all over again. Just like Dark Souls in that regard.
It's definitely not for everyone, though. You have to achieve the patience of a Tibetan monk sometimes.
Scooped Devil May Cry 5 off of the golden week sale. Haven't played any of them until now, and wow, it's a hog bonking great freaking time!
@CaptD
Yes, it took me this long to give Cosmonious High a go because it seemed like it was just full of gimmicky interactions and I thought it would be short, but I gave it a go because it is on sale and sometimes I just want a colourful fun environment to inhabit. Haven’t been able to put it down since Friday. Highly recommended
Dead Island 2 and I just picked up Green Hell on sale.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita) - Going after Chase's grandpa now.
Jetpack Joyride (Windows Phone) - Still enjoying this in between rounds of Nintendo 64 multiplayer with the kids.
Horizon Burning Shores and Dead Island 2 for me this weekend whilst I wait for Jedi Survivor to arrive
Definitely Dead Island 2.. it’s such a pretty game and I’ve witnessed no lag 6 hours into it so far.. just got fast travel opened up so I’m leveling up before moving on by going back to the first areas.. such dumb beautiful fun
PS5 - Resident Evil 4 remake
Switch - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Metroid Prime Remastered
@3Above 😄 haha.word up son
Trails to Azure on Switch. Wonderful game.
For some reason I decided to jump into friggin Lords of the Fallen after the snorefest that was Ghostwire (backlog is massive at this point). 🤣 Despite it's dated muddy visuals and clunky movement, I'm already sucked into the addicting souls like gameplay loop.
Glad I dodged another bullet, and didn't pay full price to QA test an inferior version of Jedi Survivor for a sleezy billion dollar publisher/corporation who knowingly released a very technically unfinished product. Feel bad that respawn was compelled to release it unfinished.
Looking forward to playing a superior version on sale sometime down the line.
Started Cult of the Lamb and having a blast!
I’ll be playing locoroco, sifu and indie sensation dead island 2
I'm on Chapter, I think 13 in RE4 Remake. Having such a blast with that game. I love everything about it.
I want to hop into Boneworks as well cause I've been downloading a ton of dumb mods for it.
Probably also play a few rounds of Salmon Run in Splatoon 3.
Well, Star Wars Jedi Survivor will probably take all weekend to download so maybe some Slay the Spire and RE4 Remake.
Stalling to meet Hanako at Embers while I finish up some gigs in Heywood.
Control: Ultimate Edition.
Both GHOSTWIRE: Tokyo and Gotham Knights got free DLC updates recently so I’m plugging away on those. Both are actually quite fun and ‘free’ is the best price possible so, win / win there!
I’m back to Wild Hearts. There was a number of updates which brought not only bug fixes, but some awesome content as well. Time to hunt! =]
@rusty82 My cult(s) were rubbish to begin with, I just couldn’t get into it, so I just left it…came back to it the other day and I’m hooked!
@ApostateMage
I was doing the same all of last week. Finished the game yesterday and saw the 4th ending. Can't wait for Phantom Liberty and I'm sad at the same time that we won't be getting any more CP2077 DLC.
I'm replaying Days Gone on my PC. Looks and plays great.
On my Steam Deck, I'm playing Burnout Revenge and Outlaw Volleyball. PCSX2 makes these games shine and I can't help but long for these days of PS2, when games were only about fun. None of these games would see the light of day today, sadly. Have a good weekend guys!
Finished my replay of Death Stranding last week and couldn’t resist replaying Fallen Order before starting Survivor. It still really holds up
I finished Yakuza 0 last weekend and immediately bought Yakuza Kiwami on sale despite promising myself not to buy any new games until my backlog is empty. It's worse than 0 in every way and a pity the world isn't much changed, but I'm still having fun. I'll be playing nothing but Zelda in a few weeks, but might have time to play Life is Strange between Kiwami and that.
Well this weekend is a interesting one. Been playing Advance Wars all weekend so I’ll honestly probably just play more of that. Sometimes it’s frustrating to the point of hatred other times I’m like awwwww charming lil war game. I beat Resident Evil 4 Remake so it’ll be onto RE5 at some point in the future. But for now I’ll be deleting that and probably the Mass Effect Legendary Collection to install the one and only MAMMOTH Jedi Survivor I mean seriously that game is huge. As for anime I’m feeling some more My Home Hero and probably my stand out for the season Oshi no Ko. Y’all gotta give it a try if you haven’t. Thanks all of you for making such a welcoming community. Have a good weekend and Happy Gaming.
