Another slightly more sedate week in the gaming calendar concludes, but Final Fantasy 16 still looms large and the release schedule is showing no signs of slowing as we lurch towards July.

I'm actually off holidaying this weekend so I'm mixing things up by taking out my Steam Deck and trying out a bit of Aliens: Dark Descent.
Robert Ramsey
I'll be finishing off Trails into Reverie this weekend in order to bring you lot a (slightly late) review next week. After six whole Trails games — seven including this one — I'm looking forward to seeing how it all wraps up!
Sammy Barker
I'm still debating whether to buy Final Fantasy 16 or continue trying to catch up in Genshin Impact. I've really got to stop with the latter and play some other games, but it won't let me.
Simon Fitzgerald
After reaching Level 50 with my sorcerer on Diablo 4 earlier this week, I’ll be pushing on with the story missions in the hope of completing the campaign. I may also dabble in a few games of Conquest on Battlefield 2042.
What are you playing this weekend? Is there anything new on your agenda, or will you be revisiting an old favourite? Let us know in the comments section below.

This weekend I will play StarCraft 64 in style!
I am on the 6th Terran mission in Episode I. Still learning how to get better at unit management with the N64 control scheme. It is real fun for me!
Happy gaming everyone!
Aliens Dark Descent - really enjoying this one, finished the first mission, quite a tough experience and really quite stressful. Highly recommended!
Mega Drive Mini - playing some Master System roms, including Chase HQ
Zelda TOTK
I am cracking on with Death stranding. Not sure it's for me, but I'm going to stick with it for a while. I've been playing every Kojima game in order and this is the last on the list. Been an interesting journey!
I found a really cheap copy of "Castlevania:Order of Ecclesia" for the Nintendo DS so I'll be playing that and then probably going to see "Indy V" again.
@LN78 NICE! Finding a cheap copy of that game is hard!
May I ask about the price you got it for?
Order of Ecclesia is absolutely amazing game btw!
Mega Man Legends 2! A classic that needs a HD remaster.
@Zuljaras I paid just over £30 delivered for a boxed PAL copy without the manual so not bad - I'd have preferred CIB but couldn't complain at that price.
Going to put a few hours into my Cyberpunk 2077 Lucy run and make a start on Gotham Knights. I played the one hour trial and really enjoyed it so I snagged a cheap disc copy for £15, looking forward to getting stuck in. Have a good weekend all!
@LN78 That is not a bad deal if it is with the shipping
Some more tears of the kingdom, having finally found the woodland stable I'm going to see whether my systematic decimation of blue lizards across hyrule has been worth it! Also some street fighter 6. Despite being rubbish at fighting games, I'm picking up the odd win here and there and importantly, even when I get rinsed I still have a good time. Have a good one folks
Still on FF16 but getting tad bored now
@Zuljaras Yeah - I hadn't seen a boxed copy for under £50 in ages so I decided to snap it up.
Finished the main story in DQ XI S so going to do some trophy clean up.
Apart from that Far Cry: New Dawn & Stray.
I am suffering through the Spider-Man City Never Sleeps DLC please help me guys aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
im also playing bowsers furyAfter one week of playing.....Final Fantasy XVI is impressively boring. Like, how can a game look this good and play so bad? The story is alright nothing amazing apart from some moments and the dialogue drags on forever just like XIV with unnecessary conversations. Side quests feel like an MMO too and other than that there is 0 immersion in the world. This is not PS2 era it's PS5 era damn. Yoshi P is a fraud I said it. If dragon quest, shin megami tensei, fire emblem can still do great today as turn based jrpgs there is no doubt the best jrpg series oat can do great as well. At this point, final fantasy should either die out of respect of its legacy OR return to its glorious roots.
Diablo 4 at last. Awesome game and i think i'm going to be playing it for a while. Have a great weekend everybody 👍
Finishing off Hogwarts, the I want to clean up Octopath Traveller and Bug Fables. Still not sure about FFXVI, so I might go for TotK
Im still playing the amazing ni no kuni wrath of the white witch remastered.and the excellent divinity original sin enhanced edition.i will be watching legendary sitcoms tv 📺 comedy shows in Sanford and sons.good times and saved by the bell.word up son
Ragnarok again this weekend on my Zelda break. Enjoying the spear! Really cool weapon
A little bit more of FFXVI only around 10 hrs in and have mixed feelings so far. All I will say is this : "And people hated FFXIII for being too linear !!??"
Not much to time to game this weekend as tomorrow we fly to Rome for a well deserved holiday baby !! Woohoo
Have a great weekend guys and gals ❤️❤️❤️
Ps5 Final Fantasy XVI Im enjoying the game but it really needs updates for framerate mode and that motion blur turned off. Hogwarts Legacy, Street Fighter 6, Star Wars Jedi Survivor. On PC River City Girls 2
Juggling between FFXVI and Zelda TOTK
Final Fantasy XVI and Tears of the Kingdom.
Diablo has fallen through the cracks for me at this point I think.
A courier just delivered my N64 Switch Online controller too. I might try a few classics this evening or tomorrow.
Inbetween watching The Witcher season 3 part 1, i will be continuing with FFXVI and Diablo 4.
Recently finished TotK so now I’m polishing off some indies like Rollerdrome and Trek to Yomi both of each have been really enjoyable. I’ll check out Alan Wake on + but beyond that not sure. Considering a Shenmue 1/2 playthrough. Anyone else play those recently, how did you find it? Enjoy the weekend everyone!
I'll tell you what I'm playing this weekend in the manner of Clive Rosfield.
This weekend.
I'll be playing Final Fantasy.
Sixteen.
And some.
Diablo IV.
Thank you, Push Square.
Take care.
Final Fantasy 16 for me and maybe some Far Cry 6 hopefully get Metro Last Light finished on Xbox if I've got time.
I’ve had a random urge to play Batman Arkham Asylum, so I’m gonna spend some time on that and try and complete some combat challenges.
Completed the story in Dead Island 2 and actually really enjoyed it. Early in the game I made the mistake of thinking I had to kill every zombie I encountered, which was frustrating because they constantly respawn. Getting a few guns and realising you can just run past the zombies helped me enjoy the second half of the game a lot more.
Wo Long weekend for me. It’s so nice to be back and put hands on the new content.
SWITCH
Sonic Origins (Plus) - making my way through the Game Gear games. They're... okay, so far.
Fire Emblem (GBA NSO) - continuing my way through this one. It's actually great fun!
3DS
Hey! Pikmin - getting this one out of the way before I play the main series games lol.
PS5
GTA Online - multiplayer with friends later tonight.
Atomic Heart - continuing on with this game, I'm actually enjoying it so far!
PC
Pizza Tower - just snagged this one through the Steam summer sale, I've heard very good things about it!
Have a good weekend everyone!
I don’t really feel like revisiting the rest of what BotW has to offer after beating Ganon. It’s the most I’ve gamed in ages and I feel a little burnt out on it.
This weekend - some Dying Light co-op, a little more TLOU 1 on PS5 and maybe some Control on Steam Deck.
Final Fantasy XVI again this weekend, feels like it's never going to end
I finished CoD-Black Ops few days ago and didn't start a new game yet. Castle takes my time instead of video games and it will be like that for the rest of the weekend probably. I will try to finish Punch Club 2 and Stray Gods demos at least. Also maybe I go back to Zelda-TotK for advancing story a bit. Even though it's a good game I didn't feel the incentive to go back for sometime after playing it 20+ hours. So I don't believe it's the masterpiece so many people claim it to be.
i expect more Skyrim if i get any gaming time, it's really got its claws in me.
Final Fantasy 16 for me
The Light in the Darkness and Wolfenstein 2! Can I beat the Mein leben difficulty?🤷♂️ We're going to find out.
Nexomon, a tongue in cheek Pokemon clone/parody..really good fun!
I feel like a broken record but as a dad with little time and lots to play:
FF16
Tears of the Kingdom
Diablo IV
Slowly knocking out each one!
On PS5 i will mainly be playing Final Fantasy 16 which so far has been great. I will also be playing some Dragon Quest Heroes 2.
On Switch I will be starting Master Detective Archives later today with my sexy new pastel joy con's and also hope to complete Kirby Return to Dreamland this weekend. Also my Collectors edition Zelda TOTK strategy guide got delivered yesterday so I will be continuing with that at some point.
I've recently been on a buying spree for 3DS games before they all go super rare, I must have spent over £500 on 30 games over the the last two weeks, so I think it's time I started playing them lol, I think il start with Phoenix Wright vs Professor Layton
This weekend I’m taking a break from Diablo IV and putting in some quality hours in Final Fantasy XVI on the PS5.
So far, the game is excellent. The voice acting is top notch and brings the characters to life. Clive Rosfield and Cid are genuinely deep characters and some of the best in the entire series. And the story is fantastic as well, and well told. It’s dark and twisted, but people seem to forget that FFIV and FFVI are quite similar in nature.
At the moment, I have a love hate relationship with the action. This is certainly a proper FF game through and through with “random” enemy encounters, albeit not turn based. Combat is fast, kinetic, but also as monotone or deep as you want it to be, which is great. With that said, sometimes it’s hard to actually see what’s happening - the vibrant colors overcrowd the screen and it’s hard for me to grasp what’s happening until it’s too late.
Keeping in line with RPGs, I downloaded and purchased Rogue Galaxy. It’s a game I sadly never got the chance to play in the PS2 era even though I’ve always wanted to. I’ve heard nothing but positive things about the game, so I’m looking forward to diving into that this weekend.
Final Fantasy XVI
9 days later and I'm still highly enjoying it. Sure, it's not perfect, but I genuinely look forward to playing it each time I do. That says a lot given that doesn't happen with a lot of games.
@Kraven Rogue Galaxy is a underrated classic that came late in the PS2 life. It's really quite good, story, characters, gameplay, lot's of solid content. Loved this one!
Started Hogwarts Legacy last week. As a fan of the Wizarding World i'm loving it!! This week I'm playing the post-game of Dragon Quest XI S too, to get the true ending. I plan to wander in the Continent a little in The Witcher 3 too... the TV show is back hehe so the allure is irresistible!!! Happy weekend friends!!
Afterimage got Boss Rush patch, so checking that out.
Cult of the Lamb for the Relics of the Old Faith patch
Grime for NG+
Damn and I thought I was done with all three!
Final fantasy 16 of course, didn't play it much this weeks so I'm still in the early part of the game 😃
Final fantasy 16 need to get through it then on to starfield 😂
1. FF16 (ps5)
2. F1-23 (Steamdeck)
Trying to carve out a big session on FF XVI this weekend, the pull of Diablo IV has to be resisted!
Sekiro. Beat Genechiro, beat Armored guy, almost felt impossible in the usual From style but there's always a way. Finding items I missed from 2016 in Bloodborne. Just chilling in Elden Ring, finding hard to get to items. Having fun in the world of AC Valhalla. I really wish to start HFW second run but I want to give it all my attention so I dunno.
Still playing and enjoying the fabulous Final Fantasy XVI. My personal GoTY so far. Hope everyone is playing and enjoying themselves this weekend!
I’m trying to hold off from buying something new this weekend to play because Synapse is out next week and I’ve just paid the gas bill off. Going to give GT7 VR a spin for the first time and play some Battlefield as it’s double xp weekend
Just bought PS+ Extra so I'll be scratching off some PS4 from the backlog. Starting with Shadow of the Colossus.
Ghost Trick, Street Fighter 6, WWE 2K23, and Disney Dreamlight Valley.
My brother and sister in law are here for the weekend so I doubt I'll get much gaming done but I'm hoping to play more of Final Fantasy XIV and Zelda TOTK,two games im still absolutely loving!
Also hoping to play the Pikmin 4 demo
Playing San Andreas on Switch. Having a good time, but boy is the collection a bit rough still.
It’s Final Fantasy 16 and counterfeit Lego sets this weekend!
Mainly Zelda TofK, which of course is great.
Also enjoying NFS Unbound more than I thought, simple but pretty fun arcade racer
Just bought Final Fantasy XVI so I'll get that downloaded sharpish!
JOSHUAAAARRRGGGHHH ⚔️🔥
Also some more casual Zelda because you know, Ganon took her away and now the children don't play. But they will, when Link saves the day!
Also: @get2sammyb buy the damn game man, come on. Let's gooooo FFXVI is calling 😁
@Alexface I was in the same position but ended up absolutely loving that game. Yeah it's weird and has plenty of what people would consider Kojima quirks but it really sucked me in, I did skip most side quests but since completing it last year I now enjoying coming back to do some here and there. It's a Marmite game and I was pleasantly surprised by what side I landed on
Angry Birds Rio (Window Phone) - I was jonesing for some Angry Birds action, this will fit nicely.
Imperia Online (Windows Phone) - Still grinding this out...
Happy Canada Day fellow Canadians!!!
Playing Diablo 4 about 55 hours in, finished campaign and almost to level 50 Sorcerer. Surprised at how many end game activities there are.
Currently into Whispers of the Dead, fun to do even level 1's and 3's, which are quick, and cashing in the points has provided some great gear/caches so far. Also getting more into Purveyor of Curiosities after getting a great legendary, since I keep getting Murmuring Obols and have plenty of keys, might as well spend them.
Also uncovering a lot of the map by riding around, so much left to explore. One downside is I stumbled into Fields of Hatred and had collected a lot of Seeds of Hatred, but could not figure out how to spend them. The game had not yet told me about converting at the alters, so I left the PVP zone and they were gone.
Pretty impressed with the game and especially the end game so far. End game has lots of stuff to do that is more casual as well as intense. Easy to pop in for 20 minutes, although it turns into 2 hours. Also transmog is amazing, finding a lot of great looks, which I feel my outfits are way better than the ones for sale.
Also playing more Disney Dreamlight, behind on quests so I am catching up on side quests and unlocking a few more characters. About 130 hours in, this game is so great, and a nice palette cleanser after Diablo.
So those are my two games this week...going between heaven and hell...
AEW Fight Forever. Uploading a match now that I hope will convince the naysayers on the Reddit sub that you can have matches that go longer than 5 minutes. Have been having incredible fun with online, which I NEVER do. It needs a bit of tweaking here and there, and some of the modes need to be further fleshed out, but the moment to moment gameplay is so, so much fun. It took about a day or so to lose some of my "2K' tendencies, but it finally "clicked" and I am so glad I bought this. I can't wait to see what else they bring. Fight Forever!
PS5 - Street Fighter 6, Final Fantasy XVI
Xbox Series X - Street Fighter 6, AEW: Fight Forever
XSS- Jurassic World Evo 2. It's addicting lol
PS5- It's either gonna be FF16 or Dead Island 2 haven't started either
Switch- Bowsers Fury
@frankmcma Hey! Is Disney Dreamlight something an Animal Crossing fan would enjoy?
Finally playing Kena: Bridge of Spirits and it's absolutely charming
@TJ81 Absolutely! VERY cozy! It's clear AC was the dev's Dreamlight inspiration and they improved and tweaked from there. Great game that is constantly updated. I recommend getting the Ultimate version because you get a ton of moonstones to purchase dream pass items, which is great if you do a lot of building, decorating, and outfits. Or you can bypass the pass and just get the $29 version. Then advance in the campaign until you get pumpkin seeds and you can grow them for millions and get any item in Scrooge's shop for free. Lots of fun!
Camping for the holiday so it's just the steam deck for me. I've wanted to restart the Assassins creed franchise for awhile now so it will probably be Assassins Creed 1 and emulation.
Cracking on with Alien Dark Descent for me, having a blast with it, stressful at times but loving every minute of it
Taking a break from Bloodborne after completing my first playthrough. Started playing The Talos Principle this week, and thoroughly enjoying it - great puzzles, great atmosphere, and engrossing story. Reminds me a bit of The Witness.
@frankmcma Thanks for info, it's going straight on the wishlist!
FF16, some legacy stuff on PC (i.e. Clive Barkers Jericho) and maybe some Wanted:Dead.
I’m trying not to burn myself out of FFXVI so I’m switching between that and RE4
Finished Hogwarts once, back to cyberpunk.
FF16 obviously. With TOTK and RE4 out the way...
This weekend I will once again dive further into Final Fantasy XVI on PS5 if I have the time. I'll be at Dokomi in Germany so probably won't have much time to turn on my PS5 at home in the Netherlands at all. Instead it's more likely I'll turn on my Switch and start Master Detective: Rain Code instead. Either way it will be a great weekend. Happy gaming!
@Alexface please stick with Death Stranding, it’s amazing and a gaming memory I won’t soon forget
Returnal , in the last biome . continues to be addictive.
Completed GOD Ragnarok .
Started Hogwarts Legacy, looks really cool so far.
Played FF16 demo again , waiting for my copy .
@Total_Weirdo I've decided to give atomic heart another blast on PS5.
I liked The Road 96 except some of the dialogue and voice acting performances
PS5
Cyberpunk 2077
Have finally really sunk my teeth into this one. Probably the most impressive and atmospheric openworld ive played in a good while. Story is way more gripping then usual tickbox excersize too. It feels so lovingly and carefully created, its crazy to think at launch it was polar opposite.
PSVR 2
The Light Brigade
Tampered a little at launch, but put aside after a bug killed a lengthy run. Now with Synapse releasing soon, im determined to wrap this one - cant have 2 VR shooter roguelikes in the backlog! Just maxed my Rifle stats, and made it to the final boss last night but died on his 2nd phase. Will dust myself off and try again tonight.
Xbox Game Pass
Persona 5 Royal
Still chipping away, am near the end of Palace 6, so am begining to see the light at the tunnel.
I'm on the final sidequest-a-thon in FFXVI, should finish my first playthrough today or tomorrow depending on how long it takes to knock out these quests and hunts and trophy hunting.
I'll also be playing some Diablob 4 with the lads
After all that I'll be playing some Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak.
I just cannot stop playing Street Fighter 6. I did not predict being this addicted to it but it’s the best fighting game I’ve ever played and the first one where I have put way more time into online play than I have single player.
I haven't really found much worth playing on the PS5 recently so I'm back to playing DA:O on Steam, alongside my usual obsession with RS14.
Guess some more Zelda TotK, Red Matter 2 or Hubris on PSVR 2 and/or Skyrim VR..
@Alexface that sounds like quite a journey going through his whole catalogue. Ive played all his stuff over the years, asides from Policenauts and Snatcher. Are those available on modern stuff, or emulation the only option? Stick with DS btw, it is difficult to digest at first, but once it clicks, it really is incrediable, it actually became my 2nd favorite of his titles.
@spakai best of luck with that last Biome, the light is at the end of the tunnel!
@BrotherFilmriss wow, been a while since i heard about Jerhico. It was the first game i played through on the 360, and remember being blown away, not understanding all the negative reviews - i didnt have alot of game experience at the time though. How does it hold up?
Right this weekends kinda simple. Had a early shift of work and now a later shift of work so gamings kinda all over the place hahaha. Beat Metroid Prime last week. Thought it was pretty great. That makes this weekends game Kirby Return to Dreamland Deluxe. I beat the main story on it and I think all I have to do is just one more boss in Magolors Epilogue. Excellent game and excited to move on to the next game in my chronological Nintendo backlog: my GOTY Bayonetta Origins. Simply loving it. Over on the PS5 I do have one specific game I’m hoping to beat the story of soon. Doing that and getting to delete it would free up so much storage for me hahaha. I also got Tunic on there this week so I wanna check that out. Tho who am I kidding I’m glued to FFXVI that game is absolutely amazing in every form I know I’m still at the beginning but I’ve loved every character they’ve put in front of me it’s great. As for the anime front I’m still working on finishing up my spring animes. So far I’ve finished Yuri is my Job, Rokudos Bad Girls, The Marginal Service and Hells Paradise. Why just today alone I wanna do a hat trick and finish My Home Hero, Yamada Kun, and Mashle. Then I’ll only have my continuing Spring anime like Gundam Witch and some other new ones like Cafè Terrace to finish up before starting some excellent Summer ones like Atelier Ryza. Man that one makes me wanna get back into Ryza 3. Otherwise I’m looking to pick up a copy of Ghost Trick for me and a friend and impatiently wait for my special edition or Rain Code to come July 18th because of the Customs delay 😤. Hope everyone has a great weekend and Happy Gaming to all.
My son has a physical copy of COD: Black Ops - Cold War so I’m getting a jump on the game being free on PSN and starting it now. I’m actually really enjoying it. Far better than I expected. Just hoping that the Fireteam game mode fires back up next week cuz the servers are absolutely DEAD for it and there’s a trophy tied to it…….
@ThorsHammer it's already starting to click a bit. I stole a car from some enemies and it's made it much more enjoyable 😅
Snatcher and Policenauts are retro/emulation only still. I wouldn't expect that to change. I played it on polymega - I was one of the lucky ones to get one.
It's been an interesting journey, his game largely still hold up quite well
@Alexface thats a shame, Policenauts/Snatcher would make for a awesome double bill collection to play on a portable console - one can dream that Konami does it.
Out of curosity, which game is your favorite of his so far - mine has go be MGS 3 Subsistence.
@ThorsHammer for me actually Peace Walker was my favourite. I really liked the evolution from 3 and the simplicity compared to 5. 5 felt like an open world building on peace walker.
Honestly I've been pretty amazed at how well the entire metal gear series holds up, even the originals
I also found Policenauts very fun, but it's very much a visual novel.
@ThorsHammer thanks. Managed to beat it finally. Tough but fair Returnal is. I will remember this game for a long time
@spakai well done mate! Im right with u, its a hell of a memorable experience.
