The school summer holidays are drawing to a slow conclusion, but there are still a mountain of video games to get through. In fact, the schedule gets so hectic from here on out, you may need more than the weekends to get through it all.

I'm on reviewing duties for Firewall Ultra, so I'll be donning Sony's headset for the weekend. Coincidentally, No Man's Sky finally added foveated rendering to its PSVR2 version which I'm also testing out, so I'm going full virtual world for the next few days.

While Baldur’s Gate 3 continues, I wanted a lighter change of pace and picked up Dave the Diver on Steam Deck. Looking forward to diving in, it’s meant to be really good!

I'll be finishing up my time with Sea of Stars. Obviously I can't say anything more right now, but a review is coming soon.
So, a relatively short but sweet WAYP this week from our team, but let's keep the comments as active as ever. What are you playing this weekend? Let us know below.

Still playing Elden Ring, found a portal and transported to bestial sanctum, I don't think I should be playing in this area since most enemy can kill me in 2 hits, except the big dragon, it can kill me in 1 hits. Run away from the big and small dragons, kill the small (dwarf?) enemy to get 1.000 souls, beat battlemage hugues on sellia evergaol and back to limgrave and start another adventure. Goes to stormhill evergaol and beat crucible knight, goes to weeping evergaol and beat ancient hero of zamor, goes to castle morne to deliver irina letter to her father, beat leonine misbegotten so her father can get back to her, back to irina again, sadness (😢), beat erdtree avatar on minor erdtree weeping peninsula, beat tibia mariner on summonwater village, goes to smoldering church and get killed by invader, back again and kill her, go to caelid minor erdtree, get killed by the boss, finally kill him by running away and hitting it with fire arrow from afar 😂, goes to minor erdtree catacomb near the boss, aand still stuck on there because there's two friggin boss in there instead of one (erdtree burial watchdog scepter & sword). The summon do nothing, they died before I can kill even 1 boss lol.
Sometime it feel like I'm not playing elden ring but rather adventuring in it instead, just like when I played oblivion on pc back then. There's so much to do in here and the sense of adventure is exhilarating since we actually have to search for it ourselves rather than spoonfed it like other games
At work so a bit Vampire Survivors on the switch 👍
On PS5 I've been trying to finish up Mafia 3 but it's so repetitive I've had to take a break for a bit so I've been playing Age of Empires 4 on Gamepass which works surprisingly well with a controller loving it so far.
I've just started curse to golf and I absolutely love it! So I'll be carrying on with that and also finally starting no mans sky on psvr2 since it is apparently much better now. I've only been putting the game off for 7 years!
Fighting the urge to just abandon my final fantasy run on FFXVI and make a start on Armored Core 6.
Need to finally beat Outriders. The game is good, but it’s starting to drag a little.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 is amazing and I’m not into building or farming games.
Also some Street Fighter 6 and Guilty Gear Strive on Steam Deck.
This week I dug out my very old laptop to continue my progress through the Legend of Heroes series. Playing Trails in the Sky the 3rd.
Thankfully after this one I can play the rest on Switch/PS5.
Also planning to play something with the kids, maybe Mario Kart 8/Super Mario Party.
Really looking forward to Firewall Ultra but that there is no review while the game is already out is a really big red flag.
@wiiware Elden Ring definitely has the best sense of adventure in any game of the past... erm... many, many years 😄 One of those I wish I could experience for a first time again. Maybe in a few years I'll have forgotten everything and be able to do that 😆
@Rangers420 I get what you mean about Mafia 3. But weirdly, I've been having strong nostalgic memories for that game In the last few weeks (so much so I might jump in again just to revisit it) It can be a drag at times, but it's a game that really sticks with you. The setting, theme and soundtrack really resonated with me.
As for what I'm playing. Oh Push Square, I must finish Final Fantasy 16 this weekend, surely?! I've taken to mostly just playing it in one or two sessions per week, so that slowed down my progress somewhat.
And then of course, hungover Golf on EA PGA. I tried a Sim difficulty tournament recently and got to -2 which isn't bad for a first attempt. (Finished in the top 50, for 1500 points i've just found out 😆)
This weekend I am playing Red Dead Redemption on the PS5. I shamefully bought it, but I have gotta say—it looks and runs fantastic. I haven’t played the game since it first released back in 2010. And honestly, it’s nice being back in this world again. It feels like a fresh new experience. The game is also fundamentally better after experiencing its prequel, RDR2. In fact, I think it enhances the overall brilliance because there is more context and history between various characters. It’s safe to say, the game is still a stone cold masterpiece.
Green Hell for this boy
Ps5 Final Fantasy XVI 65% 78h played. Remnant 2. On Series X Starfield Premium Edition ready to go on September 1 cant wait. On Switch over 70 hours played on TOTK, Ghost Trick last few chapters and Rain Code
With a nice long weekend ahead of me, I’ve decided to go back to Skyrim and work towards that Platinum. Every time I say it would be cool to be a spell caster, and then I look down and have a bow in my hands 🤣.
Having a bit of an Indie binge. I've become weirdly addicted to Dysmantle over the past week so I'll likely be on that all day, got The Ascent platinum the other day so I'll play through the DLC for that tomorrow then probably make a start on Outward. Have a good weekend all!
Got a copy of Immortals of Aveum on its way but think it's likely to arrive on Tuesday now lol
I'll finish PS5 version of RE: Village and find something to play until immortals arrives
@Ravix Agree on the soundtrack and setting and even the story is great also think Lincoln is an excellent character but i unfortunately had a game breaking bug about 25 hours into my first playthrough which slightly soured my opinion and has contributed to it feeling more repetitive than it maybe would have if that hadn't happened.
Baldur's Gate 3. I've not even managed to finish Act 1, so there's no chance I'm going to be finished in time for Starfield's release, particularly as I have the edition with the watch on order meaning I can play it 5 days early. Oh well, at least BG3 is a fantastic game... 😊
No Man’s Sky on Switch.
I will be playing the fantastic the last of us part 2.the excellent sekiro shadows die twice.and the excellent middle earth shadow of mordor game of the year edition.i will be watching legendary sitcom tv 📺 comedy shows sanford and son and saved by the bell.word up son
Sort of just waiting for Baldur’s Gate 3 and Starfield at this point, while contemplating if I’ll make a go at Sea of Stars in any capacity. I honestly don’t know if I’ll play anything specifically in the meantime. I’m sort of caught up with my games.
I'm like a broken record at this point, but I'm still on Tears of the Kingdom.
Baldur's Gate on PS5 is so close though...
Demon's souls and Tekken 7 😄 have a lovely weekend folks 🤘
I'm replaying Tales of Arise. And also picked up Tales of Zestiria, so will be playing that also.
Games have advanced so much every game is good these days so I'm playing any and everything; AC Valhalla, Elden Ring, MHW Iceborne, HFW, Bloodborne...I wonder how some of you do it when you keep buying a lot of games.
@wiiware haha even after all that you haven't seen anything yet, that's like 20% of the whole game, or less. On my 2nd run and still finding new things I missed right under my nose, when I thought I searched every nook and cranny after 330hrs on my first playthrough.
Wont be gaming this weekend but I hope everyone enjoys what they're playing!
@wiiware the best game worlds are the ones that genuinely make you feel like you go to visit and exist in, rather than just play. Enjoy, they are rare!!
Advancing Hogwarts Legacy since yesterday, huge game!! I will be playing more Assassin's Creed Valhalla, incredible game!! Marvel's Guardians of The Galaxy is on the cards too, loving the writing, very bold and surprising!! I will be eating good in the weekend haha!!
Having dug out the wii last night, I'm away to pick up a balance board (as mine has died) and wii sports resort from cex. My daughter was really digging wii sports last night to the point of even playing the baseball game!! Hopefully squeeze in some time to play ori will of the wisps as well, still only a few hours in but the movement feels fantastic. Have a good one folks
I'll be finishing beating up kids in Bully.
Continuing my first ever playthrough of the Baldur’s Gate games, ready for the third game. Finished Baldur’s Gate Siege of Dragonspear this morning and I shall be starting Baldur’s Gate II after work.
Playing Guardians of the Galaxy. Better than Avengers, which wasn't a very high bar, but the character banter gets old very quickly.
Continuing with The Witcher 3 which I'm enjoying, but I feel has been overhyped by the community, and if I'd played it first I would have had lower expectations for Cyberpunk
The quests are pretty engaging, but the movement controls are kinda bad and the cutscenes and dialogue are a little painful, I feel like I can definitely notice a small improvement in these areas for Cyberpunk even though that game was a fair bit behind the cutting edge due to engine limitations.
The RPG elements, meanwhile, feel like they get in the way rather than complementing the story and sidequests, and that's absolutely something that was carried forward to Cyberpunk, and it remains to be seen whether those areas are improved in the incoming patch
Diablo 4 although i played deaths door seeing as all i've heard was positives and i'm not too taken with it to be honest. Have a great weekend everybody 👍
Want to focus on wrapping up Remnant 2 after 30 hours. I’ll keep rerolling post campaign to gather other stuff and work toward the secret archon archetype.
Otherwise small stuff: cursed to golf, gal guardians demon purge and participating in something for a game I will not speak about lol.
@TheArt The Lord of the Rings: Gollum....
Got firewall ultra last night, played a few games so far really enjoying it so far. If you enjoyed the first then more of the same, gutted i cant use the gun i had on psvr, but the controllers are good enough. Really havent been gaming latley think it was nearly a month since i put any console on. Just waiting for starfield now really. Might give no mns a blast on the vr 2 as well.
Mass Effect: Andromeda
It has yet to truly grip me like the original trilogy after 10 hours, but I'm still enjoying it and it's better than it's reputation. I have a feeling my enjoyment will rise the more I get to know some of the crew, which contrary to popular belief has some pretty solid characters amongst it.
FF16 masterpiece
Not starting anything serious until Starfield.
PS2 - GTA Vice city and Burnout 3
Switch - Pikmin 4
Xbox - age of empires 4
Ps5 - final fantasy 7 remake
@Shepherd_Tallon I’m on the final stretch of TOTK. I don’t even mention it to people anymore because I tell them just assume I’m playing until I say otherwise lol. So I understand and feel that broken record comment!
@ErrantRob Same 😂
It's so hard to stop playing once you get in to it.
I'm supposed to be setting up a bbq before people get here in about 2 hours... But instead I'm running around the desert looking for a spot to take a picture. 🤷
Well this is one of those weekends that's a few days before a big game release. When you have a bit of free time, and wish you had said game available to spend it in. And you don't have another equally good title to captivate your attention... only replays and and some less than interesting backlog.
That being said...
Gave up on Diablo 4, it got so boring I just didn't see the point of playing anymore.
Now I restarted chipping away at my 2nd Elden Ring playthrough (already platinumed it once, but nostalgia just kept nagging me constantly...), just looted the map of the Mountaintops of the giants.
Can't wait for Starfield to launch next Friday!
It also marks the start of the biggest "game releases season" in the last few years. So many awesome titles launching in the next 2-3 months, it's a perfect time to be a gamer, no matter the platform!
Have a good weekend everyone!
About to finish Final Fantasy XVI (97% and cleared all the extra side missions and hunt board) this weekend. With a few days to kill during my holiday until Starfield releases I'll probably try out WRC Generations next.
After that I'm afraid my entries to this topic will be rather one sided for the next couple of months
Aiming to finish Final Fantasy VII Remake.
I've started playing Lost Judgement. Good to see Tak again. I've also started the fantastic Ghost Recon Wildlands again. Time to take down some sicarios.
PS5 - Resident Evil 4 remake, Final Fantasy XVI, Medievil Resurrection, Tekken 7
Xbox Series X - Street Fighter 6, AEW Fight Forever, Fight'N Rage, Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Continue my musical journey in Hi-Fi Rush. Game is so so good.
I’ve had little time to game this week but continuing with Hubris on PSVR 2, enjoying it.
Also tried the update for No Mans Sky, which made an already amazing game in VR even better 😀
Killzone: Mercenary (Vita) - I'm nearly halfway through with campaign, and still playing Botzone as well.
Forza Street (Android) - I haven't been able to get this to run for days, I think I'll be dropping it now.
Contre Jour (Windows Phone) - I just started this after finishing Imperia Online.
Finishing up some trophies in max payne using the power of cheat codes, getting 20 more kills in Cod blops cod wars then immediately deleting it from my ssd. After those two are done I’ll be scanning the unfinished backlog to see what to play next.
Been playing Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores and having a blast. I forgot how stunning this game is, loving the new weapons, locations and story beats while moving up the ghost levels and experimenting with more powerful builds.
Starting to ramp up my character in Wayfinder, queues to get in are now down to a few minutes. Very fun game which looks and sounds amazing. Looking forward to exploring more of this vibrant world and learning the ropes.
Going to tackle the Open at St Andrews on EA PGA Tour. Maybe try and pick up FF XVI again but I'm less than halfway through the story and it is starting to drag for me - really hope it gathers pace...
Just platinumed Thymesia so I think I’m gonna grab Atomic Heart - Gold Edition in the August sale on PSN.
Picked up Tiny Thor and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze on switch and have played up to the first boss in the latter. Later I will continue playing Judgment which is excellent. Hopefully squeeze in something to watch and also continue reading Peter May's The Fire Maker which is fantastic so far
Have a great weekend everyone.
@KilloWertz I ‘was’ playing it on PS5 but kept getting corrupted file saves where it would not load from start menu. . About 25hrs in.
Hope you have a better time.👍🏻
This weekend I will mostly be playing 2nd play through of Resident Evil 4 Remake.
Yakuza Kiwami, almost done with this one, just more 3 chapters and 4 side quests to complete and start kiwami 2 next.
@PSme Thanks. I had it crash twice on me loading the game up from the main menu within the first 3 hours, including the very first time I tried playing the game. I also had to reload the checkpoint because a door was glitched shut and I had no option to open it, but other than those three things it's been smooth sailing. Obviously 3 things in roughly 10 hours isn't great, but it could be worse I suppose.
I think I’m gonna give Divinity: Original Sin a whirl on ps5
Masternoid on vr2. Such a good game. I cannot believe that pushsquare has not review this great game yet.
I was given some money for my birthday recently, so treated myself to a couple of new games- dead space, resident evil 4 and the pathless. Realized I had not played resident evil village since I got it on sale a while ago so jumped into that before 4, and gotta say I'm loving it- pacing is great, no section sticks around too long. Keep getting to a save point thinking I should stop, but maybe just see what is next and now about half way through in the last couple of days. Enjoy the weekend everyone!!
I checked out NMS after the patch and it's a night-and-day difference on PSVR 2! Too bad i have playes it a ton already over the years and have the feeling i've seen it all by now, but i will goof around some more to see what has been newly added in the coming days. Today it was once again Skyrim VR day and i will stick with it for the coming days and try to finish the remaining DLC stuff once and for all. Time to clean up the remaining PSVR 1 backlog bits and pieces so i can move on and just focus on PSVR 2 entirely!
Played a couple of hours of Atlas Fallen and I like it. The first 20-30 minutes of the game is pretty bad but once you get to the first open world area it really shines.
Really enjoying the combat/exploration and I feel like I’m getting to grips with all the different upgrades. Think I’m going to enjoy this game but I have a soft spot for AA games.
Sniper elite 4 for me this w'end what a great game ,never gets old shooting, laying traps etc etc against nazis ,just great fun and brilliant maps
@KilloWertz A few, most are good.
playing these this weekend
Playstation 3
-Injustice
-Batman Arkham Origins. replaying Easy or Normal mode for the 2nd time and to dabble in the Cold Heart DLC
Nintendo Switch Lite
-Zelda Skyward Sword and try to get back into playing regular Monster Hunter Rise online
@Dusk_Actual divinity games are great. Hope you enjoy
Ocarina of Time --- never beat it back in the day. Recently beat Metroid Prime for the first time and earlier this year beat Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario Bros. 3 for the first time.
Still playing TotK, I’ve saved about £18 on my electricity bill this month because I’ve not had the PlayStation 😂. The scope of TotK is just intimidating. I spent 4 days just lighting all the light roots in the depths. Bits of it kinda annoy me, but it is a fantastic game (just wish it was on the PS5!)
Made a start on Armored Core 6 yesterday. I can tell I'm going to love this game. As everybody knows by this point, it's definitely not a Soulslike, but it's got really tight combat and a huge amount of "character" customisation. This is what From do best. I also got stuck on the first boss for about 20 minutes, which made me feel right at home.
Besides AC6 I'm continuing on with Trails in the Sky SC on Steam Deck. I'm dipping in and out of BG3 on the Deck too, but at this stage I'm just waiting for the PS5 version where I'll start a new character.
I'm 621 this weekend. Truly impressed . Had a fews hours of Immortal of Aveum via EA pro . So far it has been a good adventure except for the frequent crashes.
hope i will finish R&C Rift Apart soon so I can finally start my Elden Ring journey
Well this is a bit of a quieter week this week. Beat SpongeBob The Cosmic Shake in order to free space for Armored Core only to skip Armored Core hahaha. Oh and beat Ghost Trick too. Absolutely excellent and deserves all the 10s it gets. Instead the biggest news of the week is my picking up of JOHNNY GUILTY GEAR. Nah he’s cool but jokes aside I picked up Baldurs Gate III instead of Armored Core and that’s the next game I’m planning to tackle. In terms of Switch games I’ve just been bouncing between Octopath 2 and Rain Code all week. Do wanna get back to TOTK and Pikmin at some point. Over on the PS other than SpongeBob and Baldurs Gate just some FFXVI, GGST, and TLOU1. Like I said quiet and random week. Anime of the week too kinda quiet. Ayaka, ZOM 100 and Liar Liar. Podcasts of course being Castle Superbeast, Into the Aether, Remap Radio, and Fire Escape. Also gonna work my way through most of Nerissa Ravencroft of Hololive EN Advent’s streams of Story of Seasons. Such a cozy and excellent game. Happy gaming to all and have a excellent weekend.
Switching back & forth with Ghost of Tsushima & FFXV. Both replays but different trophy lists. Platinum’ed them both years ago. GoT looks amazing on the PS5
@Ravix This game is definitely replayable, it will be fun to replay this sometimes in the future 😃
@TheArt This game is crazy, already played about 30 hours in the game and I feels like already got my money worth, but I'm still in the early part of the game, not too mention I heard there's underground place and sky island 😃
@R1spam True, the only games like this that I can think of is gta series and elderscroll series, I like the open world design of ghost of tsushima but I feels like the world exist only for the player (me), unlike oblivion or gta 5 which feels alive, that people in the game exist not just for the player.
@wiiware Wish you didn't know about the underground and sky lands so it took you by surprise, still, there's a lot more surprises awaiting you.
@ItsBritneyB_tch Atlas fallen is next up for me I think after I get Immortals of Aveum.
Heard mixed reports but it looks fun and a few user reviews mentioned Dark Siders in their comparisons so it's peaked my interest
@Terra_Custodes I wouldn't say Ragnarok wax terrible by any means but it did leave me a bit cold
@TheArt Me too but it's all over the gaming website and youtube 😅
Started playing WRC Generations just as an in between (FF XVI and Starfield, obviously) game but really loving it. These series are such a gem for sim lovers. Nothing beats being in the flow of a long rally stage, clicking with the navigator’s instructions.
