Monster Hunter Wilds already feels a little like a distant memory, as the industry turns its attention to a stacked March lineup, headlined by Assassin's Creed Shadows. Here’s what we’re playing this weekend.
Aaron Bayne
I've got a few games on the go at the moment, but I'd love to start up Split Fiction with my wife this weekend if possible. We just wrapped up It Takes Two the other week and having played through Split Fiction with Stephen for the review, I can't wait to experience it all with her!
Jamie O'Neill
I want to thank Stephen for saving me money yet again, because his feature covering the PS Store's current Dealmania sale mentions that PS4 Battlefield 4 is discounted to 79p/ 99c. I've enjoyed playing five hours of Battlefield 4's campaign so far, which works out as 15p an hour!
Sammy Barker
I'll probably be keeping it quite light this weekend, so will likely try to catch up on the new Infinity Nikki event now I'm all done with Zenless Zone Zero's recent update.
That's what we're playing this weekend, then, but what about you? As always, you know the drill, so let us know in the comments section below.

First of all, happy Women's Day to all the ladies
Now I am left with only 2 Castlevania games not beaten from the Classics collection. Adventure and Belmont's Revenge. so Castlevania The Adventure is not the chopping block this weekend.
Also, I am going to try and get into Monster Hunter with Monster Hunter World. I OWN so many MH games but never spent much time in them.
And for relaxing Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Horn of the Abyss on the Steam Deck!
Happy gaming everyone!!!
New Pokémon Snap: A refreshingly unique (and stunning visually) entry in the long-running series that can be quite addictive. You always want to go back for more Pokémon, or the same in different poses, and it's really cool seeing Pokémon just being Pokémon. It's also really nice that there's a good mix of all generations with none getting obvious priority.
Still on Darksiders after making a start on it last weekend… I’m blown away tbh. Starts off pretty bog-standard old-school God of War but with slower combat… and then just keeps adding facets upon facets from other games series, that combines into a pretty great overall package.
I questioned the Zelda comparisons going in… and even after I’d played a couple of sessions but… the further you get the more it clicks… the game is Zelda but with character-action combat and a Warcraft paint-job! Oh and they threw in a smidge of Portal too!
Split Fiction and it is awesome so far!
Throughout February and March 2025, I've been stocking up on 14 PS Store sales games for my PS4 and PS5, so I've built a library of backlog titles to enjoy as my What Are You Playing This Weekend? gaming picks during early 2025.
My newest PS4 purchases are Atari Flashback Classics Vol. 1 (Jan. 2017), Battlefield 4 (Nov. 2013) and DOOM (May 2016).
All of these prices in my list below are the discounted amounts that I've spent on the 14 PS4 and PS5 games in February and March 2025, through three PS Store sales.
Like I say above, my most recent WAYP bargain title is Battlefield 4 at £0.79, where I saved 95%, as it should be £15.99.
I've put about five hours into Battlefield 4's campaign recently, which amounts to approximately 15p or 16p an hour. Here's a screenshot montage of Battlefield 4 from my JamieOretro post on my X Profile.
Note that the Dealmania early-March 2025 PS Store sale is running until Wednesday 12th March.
Have a very most excellent weekend to all of Push Square's WAYPers!
I'm planning to finish the (very straightforward) campaign in Monster Hunter Wilds and then go all-in on theory-crafting my endgame armour and weapons, which is what MH is really all about. Enjoying it very much so far! Runs well enough for me on a base PS5 in balanced mode w/ uncapped frame rate, on a 4k telly with VRR.
Also downloaded DA Veilguard from PS Plus in case I need a change of scene. Willing to give it a full go, despite the discourse.
Microsoft Wordament (Android) - Dailies and Adventure mode as usual.
Halo: Spartan Assault (Windows Phone) - At the end of the road here now.
Microsoft Minesweeper (Windows Phone) - Also nearing the end of this as well.
Robo Cop Rogue city it was on sale it's a fun game not quite worth the full price but £7.50 was a bargain.
I will uphold justice criminal scum.
What with its surprise free PS5 upgrade yesterday, I’m playing a bunch of Spelunky 2. Man, I forgot how brutally difficult this otherwise super cute game is!
Elsewhere, seeing as I snapped it up for the bargain price of just £7.49 on sale last week, I really must start up RoboCop: Rogue City. I’m not usually big on first-person perspective games, but as a huge fan of the movies, I’m pretty sure I’ll really enjoy this one.
Lastly, I picked up a physical copy of Silent Hill 2 a couple weeks back, but still haven’t gotten around to playing it. I’m hoping to right that wrong this weekend and finally get to try the acclaimed remake of Konami’s cult classic survival horror.
Arma Reforger and Cowabunga collection for me!
Have a great weekend!
Just at Costco UK.
PS5 Pro £599.99 including VAT.
Now that’s more like it. If anyone interested.
Finishing up Ragnarok, im not far off a platinum, which is nice. Still loving the System Shock remake. Hopefully ill get a bit of Dead Space too if I finish Ragnarok.
Have a great weekend folks!
Quake and stalker shadow of chornobyl on the 5pro and sims 4 on the lappytop. I might bail on stalker and resume a different game I’ve previously abandoned, its not clicking with my current head space.
Finishing off Jedi Survivor which I’ve really enjoyed. Put me in the mood to rewatch some of the films as well.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 68 hours played. Monster Hunter Wilds and Warhammer Space Marine 2
Stuck on Metaphor's final boss almost like being stuck on Erdtree's Consort but at least I finally beat him and BAYLE!!. Oh yeah there's Isshin of Sekiro to beat too faaaaccckk...So I'm just going to chill and roam in RDR2, GoWR & HFW
This weekend I'm going with Darksiders 2 Deathnitive Edition (PS5), Borderlands 3 (lots of DLC to cover) and Yakuza 5. If I can, I will do a few runs of Vampire Survivors too, it's been a while...
A bit like Sammy I’m keeping it light. Balatro and Dredge on the switch and maybe a smidge of Chernobylite on the PS5 for a chilled weekend.
Enjoy your gaming weekend peeps!
I'm starting my first playthrough of the Uncharted series. Only 18 years late on this one.
Trying to finish Call of the Mountain this weekend. Quite a bad game (good tech demo), but I want to finish it now I got this far.
On the Pro I’ll continue with The Callisto Protocol after that.
Pinky: “Gee Brain, what are we gonna do tonight?”
Brain: “The same thing we do every night, try to finish Kingdom Come Deliverance 2!”
Deus Ex Human Revolution for me this weekend. After a bit of fumbling about getting used to the controls, I'm getting the hang of it now, as well as the ebb and flow of the main quest and the side quests. My in-story canon reason for my initial clumsiness playing the game is Adam Jensen was still getting used to his augmentations and recovering from his op(!)... The visuals are still rather good despite the fact they're a bit dated now, and the whole thing just feels very 'Deus Ex'. Heck, even the main character has a similar 'Joe Friday' voiceover as JC Denton in the original game.
Will also be continuing playing Mercury Meltdown on my PSP this weekend. I'm steadily improving as my analogue nub thumb strength comes back...
Have a good one folks.
I finished the main story in Monster Hunter Wilds. Now the real hunts begin.
Played since last week
Avowed - I’ve finished the main story and I feel done with the game. It was a fun game once I started playing it for what it is and not what I wanted it to be. Looks good, great world thats fun to explore but too shallow for it to be a great game imo.
Warhammer 40k Space Marines 2 - Cant stop playing 😅 I got the platinum earlier in the week but I’ll keep playing it now and then as its so awesome. For the Emperor!
Dragon Age Veilguard - Hadnt planned to play this now but since it dropped on PS Plus I decided to give it a shot! I’m enjoying a lot so far, they’ve created a beautiful world that feels magical and I like the gameplay. Its not perfect but better than I expected after all the ***** surrounding the game.
Just finished watching Capcom Cup 11 top 16 to grand final. Man, this year Capcom Cup was hype 🤩. Tomorrow gonna watch Street Fighter League World. Japan vs EU vs USA will be hype.
Oh and i'm only playing Street Fighter 6 and some shmup like Shock Troopers.
Have a good weekend everyone 🍻
Just got platinum for KCD2, so I've gone back to Cyberpunk and waiting for Expedition 33 to come out.
Finished both DS3 DLCs so back to RDR2. Although I must be a glutton for punishment because also playing and really enjoying the First Berserker Khazan demo. Grabbed Split Fiction to hopefully play with a friend but will settle for random person on internet if I have to. Unfortunately my wife’s gaming skills just aren’t there for us to play together.
I will play one of the best underrated video games ever made in the instant classic the outer worlds with all the dlcs. I'm playing as gregory best name ever.the outer worlds is like fall out in space.it has its own vaas slow down like exciting gameplay is excellent. The story.the graphics.the soundtracks.and the boss fights are all excellent. I will also be playing the retro classics my childhood games in the amazing teenage mutant ninja turtles the cowabunga collection.its been a while since I play a lot of them. I finally play it couple days ago.the nostalgia is high on this one.im playing the first turtle game.the graphics still look good. Gameplay.the story. The so.the boss fights is so iconic. Sanford and son.and saved by the bell.word up son
Helldivers II as usual.
I'm working on FF VII Rebirth hardmode too.
And maybe Stardew Valley on Steam Deck.
I'm on my first day of two weeks off work. I wouldn't mind playing something new.
I've been craving a dungeon delving experience. It might get be time to go back to Legendary Tales or Behemoth. Or even CyubeVR.
I’ve finally recovered from my stupid cold, so I am very excited to finally jump into Like a dragon:Pirate Yakuza and run around as my boi. I’ve got a nice long weekend ahead of me as I’ve booked off Monday, to catch up on some gaming and will be dipping my toes in and out of Stardew Valley and Infinity Nikki for the new update. Enjoy everyone ☺️
Currently still in hospital with the son. So the portal is out and I am currently going through Life is Strange 2 and then Life is Strange: True Colours before it leaves ps plus. Happy Gaming All.
Continuing my playthrough of the excellent Black Myth Wukong, juts coming out of the Webbed Hollow in Chapter 4 looking for the last purple alter so the secret area!
Happy gaming folks
Another weekend here and I’m still playing Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 on the PS5. 250 hours later, I’m wrapping up the game. I’ve obtained every trophy and should get the platinum within the next couple of days — a feat I’ll be very proud of. I know it’s early in the year but this will be in contention for my GOTY, and possibly even decade.
I’m also playing Suikoden 1 & 2 on the Nintendo Switch — a perfect place to play these old-school JRPGs. This is a flagpole series I wasn’t fortunate enough to play when I had my original PlayStation growing up as a kid, despite hearing about it from various social circles. In fact, I remember going to Blockbuster (yeah, I am that old!) and it never being available to rent or buy. I’m glad I get to experience it now. So far, it’s been great.
My Friendly Neighborhood, which plays like a survival horror game in Sesame Street. Surprisingly good!

Seeing as I can’t start split fiction till next week I’ll be dipping my toes with Maneater which is a lot of fun
Evil West for me. Should have it finished this weekend. Fun game and refreshingly linear.
Enjoy the weekend
Exactly like the pic illustrating the article : I plan to finally convince my wife to play It Takes Two !
And then, I hope we can continue with Split Fiction
Still hopping between the wonderful KCD2 and Avowed.
I tried DA Veilguard and it's a decent game to actually play but as a main game in the DA series, it feels like a Dragon Age lite mobile game for kids. It does look surprisingly gorgeous though.
Spider man 2 and waiting for assassins creed shadows.
Just finished Life is Strange Double exposure. Pretty poor.
Going to mix between Boti and shadow warrior 3, maybe a bit of coffee talk 2 mixed in
@Bobobiwan me and my wife started it and were loving it but stopped playing due to only being able to play of a late evening and night and having backlog of shows to catch up on etc
Playing unicorn overlord on my ps portal, already have more than 7 hours on switch but (re)playing on portal is way more comfortable with better grip (no flat back here), bigger screen, and louder speaker.
Hello there fellow gamers.
This weekend I´ll be playing Evil West, since it´s leaving Game Pass and I´m having a blast with it.
Will also play Split Fiction with a friend. We both played and finished It Takes Two a few weeks ago and it was very fun.
And might also dable in some Street Fighter 6 matches.
Cheers everyone and happy gaming weekend to us all
Today I'm going to carry on with Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii and then play some Minecraft co-op.
Tomorrow I'll be playing Split Fiction.
On PS5 I just bought Star Wars Outlaws on sale started that last night and I'll be playing Lost Records later with the Mrs. On Xbox still playing Avowed about 50 hours in and nearing the end now absolutely loved my time with it the world is beautiful and just fun to explore.
I'm about 29 hours into Monster Hunter Wilds it's going really well, can't wait to get to High Rank. Not really playing anything else.
Happy hunting!
Tekken 2, unlocking all characters.
@ApostateMage I'm also playing Avowed. I've been shocked by how good it is once I'd given it a bit of time. I'm hooked. Very sad how the game has been misrepresented. I really hope it comes to PS5 one day and people ignore the hate and give it a chance.
Friday night I tried DA Veilguard on PS+ and uninstalled for the following reasons:
1, My dainty little elf lady walks and runs like Stone Cold Steve Austin. The developers basically mo-capped a muscle man and couldn't be bothered to animate a female character. That's the RP obliterated in one fell swoop. It looks weird and immersion breaking.
2, Needs a 40fps mode on PS5 Pro that retains the RT water from the fidelity mode. In the 60fps mode the visual difference is stark and disappointing in comparison.
3, Combat was like Hogwarts (I was a Mage)..........if Hogwarts had been made by Ubisoft. No where near as tight as Hogwarts combat and a million miles from the glorious combat in Avowed.
After a bit of a road trip today I’ll probably settle in tonight and tomorrow night to play more No Man’s Sky or Sonic Frontiers and then really dig into last year’s Prince of Persia title. I need a good metroidvania and thought I’d rather play Ender Magnolia I’m trying to clear the backlog a little in anticipation of AI Limit and Betzerker Khan at the end of the month.
Nothing this weekend off out to watch the rugby in the pub, hopefully Wales can get a win, but will settle for another good performance. Ireland v France should be a good one too. Tomorrow will probably be hungover so probably nothing, but if i do it will be god of war really enjoying it all over again. Hope everyone has a good weekend
I just beat Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii on Ps5, close to the platinum too as I only have a handful of things left like 3 more crewmates, beat amon, donthe minatonsubstories and complete the baseball minigame.
Besides that I started playing Bakeru on my Switch which I’m thoroughly enjoying at the moment.
The plan is to start either Sea of Stars or Star Wars: Jedi Survivor after.
@wiiware I'm 93 hrs in on PS5 thst game is great!
Having a friend over saturday for Split Fiction couch co-op. I’ll also continue my Baldur’s Gate 3 campaign. So far I’ve played around 250 hours and right now I’m at the foundry. Great game but I gotta admit, Split Fiction will be a nice change of pace.
Baldur's Gate 3
I've progressed into Act 2. I probably missed some side quests in the first Act, but I wanted to get into the second Act as I started going around in circles.
It being kind of easy to get a little lost at times would be one complaint, but I'm still loving it regardless. Once I got back on the right track, then it's always all good.
I've been playing DA:veilguard and it's pretty decent to be honest although the dialogue and voice acting are not great but it's not wallowing in the same quagmire as forespoken which I tried to like but ultimately I gave up on because I was grinding my teeth too much. Its Saturday which means my rallying buddy is over this evening for more dirt 2.0 escapades. Have a great weekend folks 👍
This weekend I'm going to mix it up a bit on multiple console generations.
On my legendary PS1 and CRT combo I will play Tactics Ogre. Since I will be away for a bit I'll take my PSP and play Tactics Ogre. My evening on the other hand is reserved for some gaming and chill with Tactics Ogre on the PS5.
Split Fiction is where it's at for me. We're 3 or 4 chapters in and it's been an absolute blast so far
Elder Scrolls Online and the vastly underrated Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown. I’m telling you, that game has the best platforming I’ve ever seen! It’s the first time I’ve been so frustrated by a game, but felt so accomplished when I pass one of the platforming sections.
Might mix in a few games but the main focus will be on Monster Hunter Wilds (PS5).
Series X- Monster Hunter Rise, Disney Dreamlight Valley, Street Fighter 6, and Marvel vs Capcom Collection.
PS5- Metaphor Refantazio and Sonic Generations
Switch- Pokémon Scarlet
WWE 2K25 on PS5. Anyone else loving it?
If I get a chance to play it, absolutely Split Fiction with the wife. We keep putting playing Lost Records off too, just because there’s been a lot going on for us, but we may finally play that one too. We’ll have a good time with both of them when we get to them.
Outside that, I think I might finally put Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 on the back burner. I’m struggling to get into it. Maybe it’ll be something for me at a later point. I mean, it took me half a decade to finally appreciate The Witcher 3, so it can happen.
If I play something solo, it’ll probably be something arcade-y We Heart Katamari or Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1+2 or Dig Dug.
And I’ll be keeping tabs on SXSW because Kojima. I can’t wait for Death Stranding 2. I’m at that point in my gaming life where I sort of know most things I buy will be a gamble if I like them, but there’s still a select few games that I can say, “When that comes out, I can basically guarantee it’ll probably be one of my favorite games I’ve ever played.” You know, that kid feeling of playing games. I get it with Mario, Zelda, (usually) Final Fantasy, (usually) Resident Evil, Remedy’s games now, you know? But, more than anything else, I feel that way for Kojima games. They just feel like they’re a different level of special. They’re games that feel like they talk directly to me, and I could not anticipate any game more.
Not really playing anything other than maybe a few matches of COD BO6 as I
1) have a ton of family and church obligations that will take up a lot of my time
And, more importantly,
2) really don’t have anything to play since finishing up Lords Of The Fallen this week.
Looking for that next new game to play and not really sure what to grab. Been looking at Banishers, Alone In The Dark, Lies Of P, System Shock remake and Astro Bot but each has its drawbacks preventing me from pulling the trigger. I guess I’ll see what goes on sale next week and kind of decide that way…..
I took a break from Dynasty Warriors Origins because it wasn't pulling me in, but I made it over the hump, and now I can safely say, this game is peak. I can't stop playing it.
I'm trying to beat 3 games before they leave Gamepass.
I've finished Solar Ash last Wednesday, this weekend I'll try to beat Evil West and after that I'll dive into No More Heroes III
Donkey Kong 94, what else?
Just made it to high rank in Wilds. Happy hunting y’all!
Far cry 6 and shadow of the colossus the latter is such an amazing game such emotions and the atmosphere is incredible and the scale of the enemies as well
The incredibly immersive Kingdom Come: Deliverance II and Split Fiction with the fam. Happy gaming!
🎵 We are the gozo pirates🎵
I have temporarily paused the monumental KCD:II just to not rush through it and appreciate it as much as I can.
Also, I paused it to focus on my access to PS PLus for a month to try how good the new Dragon Age: Veilguard is. Turns out there's a lot I didn't like about the game, so I am absolutely rushing through it in a way I never did before, and only stopping to enjoy the small moments in the game that land well for me.
With PS Plus I might as well play games with friends, so I played Rainbow Six: Siege with a buddy and dedicated a full evening for it. I also have access to one of the Like A Dragon-games via PS Plus so I might just try that or Bioshock Infinite (PS Plus) as I have added them to my library and never touched it. Most of my PS Plus games are left untouched so all the more reason to get busy.
Visions of Mana (PS5) - Started Chapter 7 and completing the many side quests that popped up at the start of this chapter. Having fun too trying out the different classes and abilities now that the game has really opened up.
Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection (Switch) - Started playing X-Men vs. Street Fighter and instantly brought back memories of playing this one at the arcade many moons ago.
Finished up Crypt Custodian, I highly recommend that game for everyone. Currently playing Akimbot, a Ratchet and Clank clone without the budget. It’s ok, but the companion robot is very annoying. I bought Monster Hunter Wilds and will definitely be hopping on that.
Kcd2 with a smattering of like a dragon mental pirate man
@Hellaween by the looks of it,not a sausage 😂
@Cornpop76 thing is if you played kcd2 or bg3 , you kind of realise what a shallow load of crap avowed is, dead eyed npcs and gameplay mechanics that's been dragged kicking and screaming from the 20th century , wouldn't even class it as an rpg , it's a fps with magic stuff, obsidian can do much better ,and they should stick to what they know in future.
@lazarus11 I already own those games so if I wanted to play them I'd just play them?
Why do I want Avowed to be the same?
How long have I spent making potions by hand in KCD2? How long have I spent forging items by hand in KCD2?
Should every RPG do that now? Do you want making a potion or sword in BG4 or Elden Ring 2 to take 10 minutes......only to then lose the entire thing because you heated it up too much? Would it be a step backwards if they didn't include those mechanics?
Why can't we have a shallow RPG? What's wrong with that?
Now that iRacing or GT7 exists, are we not allowed to have arcade racers anymore?
No more Ridge Racer games because they are too shallow?
Also why can't Obsidian deviate from their formula and do something a little different? Look at Avalanche Software who went from making Disney Cars to Hogwarts Legacy?
I get if you want a first person Pillars it was probably disappointing, but isn't that maybe an expectations management issue?
@Cornpop76 I just don't have time for mediocrity when their are so many great games to play , avowed would still be crap without the existence of kcd2 or bg3 , i expect npcs to react when i blast them in the face with a fire spell or smash a sword over there head, identical looking crates that can only be smashed if there's something inside , if a new ridge racer game was to be released and you just went through the cars, I wouldn't expect people to say well its an arcade racer what do you expect, i expect this kind of nonsense from an indie dev , not a well established dev team funded by one of the biggest companies in the world , its garbage and it's riding on the back of it being an xbox exclusive and on game pass ,and all the fanboys stating its like the second coming of rpg jesus,I wonder if they'd be so forgiving if they just paid 70 quid for it.
Still knee-deep in my Like A Dragon addiction; still on Chapter 5 because I'm just getting lost in everything. Been watching a 3hr video of Kiryu's adventures in the meantime so I can be ready for Infinite Wealth - which I preemptively bought (for $20!)
More of the same for me this weekend.
Avowed (Series X) Really enjoying this game alot, I find it relaxing just exploring and doing the quests. Still doing side quests around Paradis before moving onto the main story. I believe I am level 7 right now. Really enjoying the combat and just learning about the world.
World of Warcraft Anniversary Classic (PC) Going to try and do a few dungeons tonight Wailing Caverns to be precise and maybe Shadowfang Keep OG. Been years since I have done either of them so it's going to be fun to see what I remember.
Sims 2 (PC) Mainly dinking around with this game but then again isn't that what Sims are all about.
I also would like to get back into Indiana Jones if I have time this weekend but we will see if I have time.
Suikoden on hard mode 😆😆😆
Suikoden 1 my first time through these games. Also majoras mask- not my first moon rodeo
I have the use of both my ears this week which is welcome. Made a start on Assassins Creed Origins this week and also started Quantum Break. Thinking of taking a break from GoW Ragnarok for a bit as it was starting to drag. Atomfall is fast approaching too so may very well be after i'm done with that.
Have a fantastic weekend all and happy gaming 👍
Plugging away at Nioh. Just finished the second region and the third region just hit me like a brick. I felt like i was making good progress then that just came to a screeching halt. I gotta rethink how I’m approaching the game and re work my build a little. Just don’t feel like I’m doing any damage anymore and everything is 2 shoting me. Still hooked. Gonna figure out what I need to do without grinding levels and get through this.
Just got the Platinum for Until Dawn remake. It only took 26 hours. 😭 Stupid game! 😂
I'm mopping up trophies in Stellar Blade, spent a large chunk of my evening just doing fishing and finding all the photo locations.
@HRdepartment no.1 thing to have a look at is your gears item level, if you've had a build that was working for a good long while it's possible to coast through on skill alone until you hit a certain disparity between ilvl on what you wear and what the mobs are dropping.
Been playing Split Fiction with my daughter, it's incredible. Worth all the hype, and more. Aside from that I'm attempting Elden Ring for a 2nd time after shelving it after launch. I got my ____ handed to me 10 hours straight then, now taking a friend's advice and trying to explore and collect certain items before tackling bosses. Been fun exploring so far.
Happy International Women's Day! One day, I hope to post about playing something that was recently released. Until then, I'm enjoying Mortal Kombat Trilogy and NFL 2K5. I might also get back to both Final Fantasy 1 and Astro's Playroom!
Ive been playing WWE 2K25 Bloodline digitally since late Thursday night to 7 a.m. Friday yesterday. Been having fun going through the first couple matches in Showcase and spent more time creating 3-4 CAWs and then uploading them to Community Creations
@lazarus11 there are hundreds of critically acclaimed 10/10 games where you can’t hit NPC’s.
When calling games “garbage” you have to ask if you are rating the game that was made, or the game you personally wanted it to be.
I’m sure there are people who don’t like the two most recent God of War games because they are nothing like the God of War games of old that they wanted.
But they wouldn’t describe the new version as “garbage”. Same with Tomb Raider from 2013-on which aren’t what I played or wanted from the mid-90’s.
Still KCD2. My professional life is chaos, so i enjoy the slower pace. Yes, i still struggle with the combat, and for the life of me i dont get the sometime 1 hit kills (me being the victim). So learning about armor, etc. and putting in the miles on Pebbles for his upgrade.
And GT7 on VR. So so good. The new F3500 is the experience i dreamed off when i bought Geoff Crammonds GP2 in 1996. The ability to see the apex is so so cool, and helps with the laptimes
Playing Age of Mythology (I’m early in but the campaign is quite enjoyable), Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero (I’ve long been a fan of the FFT subgenre), Helldivers 2 (I’ve put in several hundred hours and the massive, crazy battles never cease to surprise and amuse) and Gran Turismo 7 in VR (I love the feel/feedback).
@Cornpop76 in an open world rpg that was touted as a skyrim killer i don't think so , dragonfall is more immersive than avowed
@Fakeplastictree get yourself some plate armour and learn the master strike and make sure you level up straight away, don't save your skill points.buy combos as well and its better to be a master of one than none at all, oh and make your own weapons with the relevant skills you can make a really powerful sword, if your having issues obtaining good armour , just break into a blacksmiths house and steal all you need in the dead of night.
@PuppetMaster Funnily enough, not only have I been returning to Capcom's 1990 arcade MERCS, but I have also been dipping into Saurus' 1997 Neo-Geo Shock Troopers too, by way of Hamster's ACA NeoGeo Shock Troopers, recently.
MERCS is my personal gold standard for retro, topdown run-and-gun games, largely because I imported the single-player only Mega Drive port of Senjō no Ōkami II during Christmas 1991.
I play the three-player CPS-1 arcade version of MERCS via the convenience of PS4 Capcom Arcade Stadium now.
Anyway, I hold Shock Troopers in as high esteem as MERCS nowadays.
I like the way that you can fix your shot in place in Shock Troopers — for example, by aiming on a diagonal — and then strafe from side-to-side.
I also like the way that Saurus' game allows you to evade bullets with a dodge roll too, and how you can take different route paths in Shock Troopers.
There's a Nintendo Life review of Mega Drive MERCS on the Wii's Virtual Console from way back in 2009.
Nintendo Life also has a review of arcade Shock Troopers on Switch, too. Both of these reviews were written by Damien McFerran.
If you ended up playing Shock Troopers over the weekend, I hope that you had fun, bud.
@lazarus11 who touted it as a "Skyrim Killer" and when?
How many hours have you played it?
Well here we go with another wild WAYP. Again missed a week due to spending the weekend with the GF but we got a really good one this week. Again spending time with someone you love beats gaming by far.The week was some good fun games all around. Mostly Trails Through Daybreak, Monster Hunter Wilds, Pirate Yakuza, FFXIV Dawntrail with some Mario and Luigi Brothership as well. Pirate Yakuza may be a GOTY it’s so much fun and I loved it so much. Monster Hunter is fun too it’s easily the most fun I’ve had with a Monster Hunter game by far. Made the GOTY list and can’t wait to share it about to any who wanna hear. Most of the weekend was spent with Split Fiction with the GF. Yes I’ve decided to share the very special experience of a Josef Fares game with someone very special to me. Honestly it didn’t wow me at first but I’m willing to give it a fair shake. Rest of the weekend I’m thinking is gonna be some Trails Through Daybreak as I’m really hoping to beat it and start II. As well as some Pirate Yakuza or Monster Hunter or maybe Death Stranding Directors Cut or maybe even Lost Records Bloom and Rage. Maybe even Disgaea 7 too as I got that as a gift last weekend from the GF too. Otherwise I’m thinking this week is mostly gonna consist of some Trails Through Daybreak, Dawntrail, Mario and Luigi Brothership, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, Pirate Yakuza, Monster Hunter, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD and Dynasty Warriors Origins. Try to pick up my preorder of WWE2K25 too. The wrestling thing this week being the WWE Elimination Chamber and WWE2K25. To start with the game first what can I say I’m excited for the BLOODLINE showcase mode and overall excited for a fresh new game. As for Elimination Chamber what is there to say except two words: CENA SUCKS. Anime of the week gotta go to Dragon Ball Daima and Shangri La Frontier and Solo Leveling and Okitsura and Sakamoto Days and 100 Girlfriends. They all continue to be absolute bangers as they keep trucking. Podcasts of this week gotta go to Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Last Stand Media, Easy Allies, Second Wind, Nextlander, Cultaholic Wrestling, Weapon Wheel Podcast and Remap Radio. As always yall stay safe, be awesome to each other. Have a totally magnificent weekend and of course Happy Gaming.
@Cornpop76 Pentiment and Grounded are very different and very recent. Obsidian does some interesting stuff.
@lazarus11 The only thing I heard regarding Skyrim and Avowed is "Avowed is not Skyrim, don't expect that."
@LikelySatan it was before the game was released ,now it has been ,its clear it's not even a morrowind killer.
@Cornpop76 it was everywhere , youtube ,social media etc, ive played about 5hrs , i got the gist
@lazarus11 Eh...k. I guess I'll just say I saw none of that. I have a feeling this is reader error. Just a hunch.
@lazarus11 who said Awowed was a Skyrim killer?
It’s not the developers fault if a bunch of grifting YouTubers spread misinformation is it?
Obsidian never said it, as you just discovered when you Googled it just now trying to find the source to verify what you had heard.
Ask yourself, having already discovered that these people on the internet lied to you and fed you misinformation, why do you believe everything else they said about the game was true?
Don’t trust them and don’t trust me, actually play it.
But I can say hand on heart that it is nothing like Veilguard. It’s a cracking little RPG-Lite with some of the best first person fantasy action combat ever made.
A perfect palette cleanser after heavy titles like KCD2, BG3 or Elden Ring.
@Cornpop76 oh good grief its £70 it's not even worth half that , and i have played it and it's garbage , some of the worse animation this gen, crap npc ai that belongs in the late 90s,regardless who said it was a skyrim killer it was still said by numerous people, stop defending a mediocre game just because it's on game pass , 5 to 7 years in development, millions of dollars, for this , seriously.
@lazarus11 if you want every racing game to be a semi-sim collectathon like Gran Turismo, then Mario Kart is a bad game.
That's a not problem with Mario Kart though. That's a problem with the individual.
Of course they are entitled to only want GT/Forza games, but it's not cool when that proliferates into spreading misinformation.
I.e. if a bunch of people on message boards run around making false claims about how "Nintendo said MK was a GT7 killer", or run around calling it "mediocre" when they never even played it, and are just parroting what a Youtube rage grifter said in a video.
Let's be better than those people.
@lazarus11 thanks man. I have ‘the’ sword already and Brunswick armor. These ‘instakills’ started only on 2nd map, so i figure it must be a skill issue on my side. I have great armor, master strike etc. what gets me is the bandit camps when if more than 3 guys come at me, im guaranteed dead man
@Fakeplastictree do you have mutt hes a god send in fights keeping at least one busy ,also I've found dodge to be incredibly useful , dodge, spin around get a couple of hits in then dodge back and wait for stamina increase
@lazarus11 i figured out how dodge works last night. As you say, a big improvement. Also found some new training guys that I will work with.
