Our intrepid video producer Aaron has been incredibly busy these past few weeks, putting all kinds of games to the test on PS5 Pro.
The result of his adventures is this top ten list, made up of titles that have been given the most impressive upgrades on Sony's new system (so far).
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, for example, finally gets a 60 frames-per-second mode that isn't a blurry mess, while titles that were already well optimised on the base PS5, like God of War Ragnarok and The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, benefit from a noticeable resolution boost — even when they're prioritising performance.
Sony said that the Pro would help blur the line between your typical 'fidelity' and 'performance' modes — and that's exactly what's happening when it comes to Marvel's Spider-Man 2, or Gran Turismo 7. In particular, these games stand out because they throw some superb ray tracing into the deal — all while maintaining a smooth 60fps.
Which games have impressed you the most on PS5 Pro? Do you agree with Aaron's list? Might you be trying any of these titles out for yourself? Keep things smooth in the comments section below.

Shame, I've already completed almost all of them on base PS5 and will hardly launch again this generation Except for Gran Turismo and NMS, probably.
I'm not sure I need to play these on PS5 Pro when I in absolutely no way, shape, or form feel the need to spend $800 on this pointless console upgrade.
I have all it Final Fantasy. Just bought a 100” TV to go with my PS5 Pro.
@B_Lindz With the right gear, certainly not pointless, a £1300 phone, now thats pointless to me 😃
It’s not for all I will say that.
If You have the right TV especially a good size one and the viewing distance is correct and 120hz VRR helps then you get to experience probably the best experience when the power and PSSR is used correctly.
I’m enjoying so far and yes some games and certain scenarios and scenes in those games do look a cut above and have a little wow factor.
But it’s not the amazing answer to a big rig top PC that’s is running games at native 4K 60fps and above with ultimate settings, but it’s the closet a home console can get for now and at a respectable price point.
The whole disc drive shortage etc is a shambles and bad on Sony, that’s the only negative I have.
Of the games Ive tried out myself so far:
Spiderman 2, Stellar Blade, Hogwarts Legacy, RE4 Remake, GOWR all have excellent improvements, particularly in uncapped 120hz VRR.
(NB use normal Performance mode uncapped for Hogwarts, NOT the High frame rate mode which hasn't had the same attention).
Im very, very surprised RE4 Remake with its massively increased fps (now runs at 100+fps at times), and Stellar Blade with its increased visuals and +20fps are not on this list. Somewhat surprised Hogwarts isn't too.
Demon Souls, Lies of P, and Dragon Age Veilguard are also nice upgrades, but the first 2 would benefit from uncapped framerates in 120hz VRR.
Didn’t Diablo 4 say it had a pro patch? Running fidelity mode on it runs terrrrible.
Tlou2 is superb and at 90fps, also since dragon age, has now given you the option to turn off bloom with the new patch, it looks really good now all that blur has gone.
@OldGamer999 I still haven't got a disc drive , they're selling them on Ebay now for 130 , they have best offer so I send them 115 and they always refuse , how much do they want , and why make best offer an option, completely unrelated , but don't suppose anyone knows when the behemoth review is up on here, the ones on YouTube seem very conflicted.
@Jrs1 One could always build a $2000 computer and re-buy all their games!
Quick!
Get your 3 and 4 year old games booted up, they look really good!
@ButterySmooth30FPS I wish someone would just upload a risitas sketch on yt to appease all the haters 🤣
Pro has given me quite a list of both old games I want to replay now, and a few games like FF7Rebirth, LOF or DD2 I had avoided on base PS5 due to poor visual quality, or (very) poor performance, which I may now buy in sales.
It just kind of amuses me that in the week we are celebrating PlayStation's 30th birthday, we have an article telling you how to make your old games look nicer instead of all of the brand new treats we can look forward to.
@Jrs1
Given the little hate crusades some people seem to be on for this optional console (which is probably not even targetted at them in a lot of cases) Im not sure anything would appease some.
Stellar Blade is easily the best Pro game I've seen so far
@Frmknst
Depending on the game, yes.
Some do have a much higher visual quality, some games a much improved framerate, some a little bit of both (my preference).
Ive have been playing mine since launch, so I should know - and if it hadn't pleased me, I would have been saying so.
I have no problem saying something Ive bought is crap if it is, but thats just not the case here.
Its a better improvement than PS4 Pro was over PS4, in my opinion, providing you have the TV to get the most out of it (but then that was sort of true for PS4 Pro too).
@Rich33 Don't even bother. You're talking to the Grumpy Cat of this site.
@AndyKazama absolutely agree with you! the pro mode for is jaw dropping.
So let me get this straight ,Playstation gets the game first, and PC gets it later
but on the flip side , PC gets the pro enhanced version first, and Playstation gets it later 🤔😂
Glad my backlog is huge. I get to play a lot of games for the first time in their best state.
You're missing a "Re" in your title there...
Stellar blade, hogwarts and crew motorfest are the only games I’ve run on the pro so far but the first two especially look superb!
Luckily I never got round to rebirth on my OG ps5 so looking forward to checking it out!
Dirt 5 and DMC5 both amazing at 60 on quality mode.
Playing Stellar Blade right now on DF’s recommended “Pro” mode @120hz (NOT Pro Max) and it’s sensational. Would have liked to go through FF7Rebirth @60fps without the need for corrective lenses, but with the trash trophy list, that game is of no account. That scum Hamaguchi even formally apologized for his incompetence and promised to do better in the future—my question is, Why not fix what you ruined in the first place? Address your failure and patch that garbage.
@Frmknst I mean it is? FF Rebirth looks like a next gen game compared to the base version. It's a bigger jump than the PS4 to PS5 version of Remake.
I’m happy with my Pro but give me detail, resolution and frame rate over ray-tracing ANY day of the week.
You don't need to play any games on it you want to play games on it to justify the money you've just spent
@Feffster
Cannot disagree - though the best implementations have RT as an option you can toggle off - which I invariably do.
The Pro patch for SWJediS was laughable in that they made the same mistake they made at launch - forced RT in a game you can barely see it, whilst glaring issues are present. DF even said they should have used all of the additional GPU into resolution pre upscale.
Nice list. I'll make sure to play these games in their enhanced modes when i get a PS6, when it comes out in the future
even older games spiderman 1 remaster , horizon zero dawn remaster and last of us as well all play amazing and look amazing on the pro, i know people hate "remasters" / ps5 versions of the game , but give me a 10$ upgrade of days gone and give it a ps5 pro patch and i'll be all over that 100%.
If I get PS5 Pro (with disc drive of course), I want to try these games to get even better 60 fps and even faster loading tine
1. Barbie: Project Friendship
2. Bluey
3. The Sims 4
4. Paw Patrol games
5. Story of Seasons games.
6. Yonder the Cloud Catcher Chronicles
7. Harvest Moon games
8. Pocoyo Party
9. Horse Club Adventures games
10. My Universe games
Been really impressed with the Pro so far. There’s around 60 official patches and at least 40+ games without a patch that get a noticeable boost to frame rate and / or resolution through DRS.
Yes there are a handful of titles with poor patches, but this is nothing new in gaming - launch now, fix later, seems to be the mantra - but they are a minority. Less than a month in and 100+ titles with boosts. Nice
I've had my PS5 Pro for about a week now, with disc drive of course.
Unfortunately, I have already Platinumed most of the Pro enhanced games I own, but I did test some games out to see how they look on the Pro and i must say Spider-Man Remastered, Stellar Blade, & RE4 Remake have impressed me the most so far!
I'm glad I waited for Rebirth to go on sale and my first experience will be playing it on the Pro.
Other non Pro enhanced & PS4 games I'll continue playing on my base PS5 for now.
@HRdepartment yes D4 has a pro patch, it’s running at 4k/120hz and it’s so smooth, looks fantastic!
The best games to play on a PS5 Pro... the games you already own physically... because you already bought them. The games you currently (at least in Australia) can't play on PS5 Pro... any game that requires a disc drive - which cannot be bought for the last 2-3 months. People really need to hold Sony to account for not at least providing 'fan' gamers the right to play their own games on a console that costs AUD 1200... and I mean, NO OPTION. You cannot buy this drive. Why ... how???... This is the primary reason I won't consider buying a Pro... you shouldn't have to hope that you can buy a drive in the 6-12 month mark to play games you own when upgrading.
@Rich33 as they say, misery loves company. Or, in this case, being masochistic and miserable about their chosen hobby. Sheesh.
@themightyant Glad to hear you are enjoying it! That's definitely my experience too, I'm noticing clear improvements even in non patched titles.
Whilst the odd missfire from teams that famously don't check their games is disappointing ( massive games @ unbi, I'm looking at you), they will get fixed soon.
@Titntin indeed the AI tech will improve and devs will learn how to use it, and how not to use it.
What I notice more than anything is much smoother framerates, especially in games I play often. It’s hard to make the Pro stumble on a VRR display. That’s not going to be a big enough selling point for many - base PS5 is still really good and the sensible choice for most - but as an enthusiast I’m very happy. Enjoy!
@Jrs1 They are, but I'm a sucker for Dirt 5 @ 120hz! So smooth!
If someone wants spend the money why is it a waste of money. Everyone can make up their own minds if they think it's worth the money.
As has already been mentioned, Stellar Blade looks and runs absolutely incredibly on the Pro. I do think you really need a modern OLED TV with loads of gaming features to get the most out of the console though.
GT7, Stellar Blade, Spidey 2, The Crew Motorfest, Warhammer Darktide, Horizon FW and No Man's Sky are the biggest highlights for me.
I'm about to wrap up Horizon Zero Dawn remastered and it's really impressive on the Pro.
@lazarus11 Make them an offer they can't refuse.
My experience of Pro has been limited because I can't seem to catch disc drive stock. Although I'm itching to get into GT7 (with/without VR) because I hears only good things....
@Dampsponge you dont need to play games on anything.
