Topic: Can't redeem my psn voucher or gift card

I think I have this solved already but I wanted to share it with anyone else who is having this problem.

  • What my issues were...

I bought a $20 playstation.store voucher, which I was calling a prepaid card. On my ps4 I tried to redeem the voucher, the network recognized the card as it would ask me to confirm adding the $20. When I confirmed it, it would then tell me my wallet had reached the max limit and could not add the card (I had a penny on my account, so that couldn't be accurate). I then waited 24 hours.

The following night I tried it on my friends ps4, in case mine ps4 was the problem, but it was the same issue. I then tried it an hour later on my ps4, but had the same problem. I tried redeeming it two different ways on the official sony website, it would say the card could not be redeemed. I tried it on the psn android app by entering the 12 digit pin, and that would not work. I then used the app to scan the barcode and it actually auto generated a completely different 12 digit pin althogther that was not on the voucher, and that did not work.

  • Here's where I may have solved the problem...

I googled a support phone number, here: (800) 345-7669 open 8am-8pm (not sure which days).

When you call, be prepared to give them the following information: your psn user name, your email thats tied to the psn account, your full name, and they may also ask for your ps4 serial number which can be found in your settings.

They will send you a case email, which you have to reply to with good quality photos of the front and the back of the voucher and the recipt from the purchase as well. They then take two business days to finalize the case.

If you don't have the receipt I suggest going to the store you bought the voucher from and ask them to print it for you, or ask the support representative on the phone what they suggest.

I just did this and the representative told me the card was not activated, even tho my receipt says the card is active. So there is some error there, hopefully in two days they send me a refund or something.

  • If this doesn't work...

I'm going to go to the store and call this number on speaker with the store clerk so they can hear the sony representative say that the card is not active, and hopefully the store will refund me.

@swordofsmooch Sounds like a pain to get sorted but I have received pretty good support from Sony on these things. I once had an issue with DLC as I bought DLC for what turned out to be a copy of a game from another region and they sorted that out pretty quick.
