Topic: Download speed slow

Hello people! I live in a country with a very low internet speed; still I was managing my PS5 games and content quite well.
But recently, speed is even lower to an unbearable level.
I was wondering, can it have to do with me downloading free to play games like COD Warzone 2.0? I mean, are free games download slower than other games especially a game like this since it’s still very new and a highly hyped game?

@guardianoftime The important factor is the file size. If a game is twice the size, it takes twice as long to download. If it’s 100 times the size it takes 100 times as long and if it’s 1000 times the size it takes 1000 times as long.

Talking more generally free games usually have large file sizes. Because they sell many cosmetics and all the cosmetics have to be in the game files for everyone.

You’ll have a hard time finding a game larger than call of duty, but there are many games that are orders of magnitude smaller.

@Ryall the new COD is sized at around 40Gb. Regardless, it seems the speed at my end varies in regards to pressure. I.e since it’s the end of the month, demand of downloading increases in order to reach the limit.

Tried the wired connection yesterday, and wow what difference it made. Speed was up x3 x4 as before.

@guardianoftime Wired connections will always be faster. Unfortunately our router & modem are downstairs while my PS5 is on the third floor.

@guardianoftime wireless is only ever good for web browsing and streaming movies/videos , it’s never good for games or downloading .
