As I mentioned in another post I recently became a member of the PS4 owner family when I got a Pro 2 weeks ago... while I enjoy my pro there's one major issue that it's ruining my experience and that issue is that my download speed is...erratic
it would normally be unacceptably low except for spikes were it will go exceptionally fast... for example... I've been trying to download NBA 2K16 for 3 days now... normally it goes super slow and says 99+ hours to finish except for a brief spike and it went super fast and said 5 hours to finish.. it downloaded about 11 GB in one hour during that spike before going back go being super slow....
I've been trying downloading different games to look at the issue, I was trying with Contrast (around 3GB) and again it went super slow and said 15 hours to finish... then I tried a different game Gone Home (around 5GB) and with this one it went super fast and said 30 minutes to finish... it downloaded 4GBs in around 20 minutes but now is back to super slow for the last bit...
I've browsed the internet and found nothing helpful, I never experienced this issue with my PS3 which was never very fast but was consistent ( could download a 30 GB game in say 12 hours) with this if I leave a game downloading overnight I have no idea what to expect in the morning...
Being able to download games is essential for me because I do not live in the U.S. and buying disc on games is super expensive here so downloading is my only option and it always worked for me on PS3... I was wondering if anyone on the Pushsquare community would have any insight on how I can deal with this issue on PS4 or if anyone has experienced the same issue...
When are you downloading the games? For some reason when others in my house are using the Internet, streaming, playing games etc while I am downloading stuff on my PS4 it drops alot. So to fix that I just download everything at night.

First things first, your download speed is usually capped by the server you are downloading from, so it may or may not be you if PSN gets DDOS'ed. Assuming that is ruled out....
...You'd be amazed at how many things interfere with wifi... including a microwave running. But.... the pro has 5ghz wifi which uses a different band (5ghz) and is supposed to get around that. So if your router supports 5ghz wifi (mine happened to), you should really enable it and switch to that. I went from 10-20 mbps on the ps4 "test internet connection" to over 100mbps when I swapped to the 5ghz band.
@DualWielding: Its not your pro its the nba 2k16 download. It took me a week to download when it was free on psplus. The first 10gb out of 50gb should download pretty easily and your 'meant' to be able to play a quick game whilst you wait for the rest to download. Do not start the game it corrupts the download!

@DualWielding: I wrote about this download in the forums somewhere and posted a few picks on the Pushsquare community on the ps4. I would delete the game, there are reams of complaints about the nba 2k16 download on the internet. then try to download something else like the free igc games, if they load in pretty quickly your suffering from the same problem I had.
I had the whole of nba 2k16 and Bloodborne update downloading at the same time and they are both known to be dodgy. It was one of the worst weeks I've had since owning a ps4. I had to babysit the download whilst I was off work one day and continually pause / unpause the nba 2k16 dl. It shows the initial 10 or sp gb but the whole file is around 50gb or so. Man I feel sorry for you mate.

PSN speeds are all over the place for me as well, unrelated to the PS4 Pro. Most of my downloads will start around 10MB/s, but within 5 minutes they drop to 0.01MB/s. If I pause and restart, it jumps back up to high speed. The same exact thing happens with FFXIV patching (third party launcher, but hosted at PSN data center), only I cannot pause/start without closing the launcher.
From both my logging and my ISP's logging, there's some type of data throttling going on on the PSN's side. It's been this way for the longest time for me. It seems like a regional issue because if I connect to one of their other data centers using a VPN, I don't get a throttled connection. I actually get faster download speeds when I connect to the Japanese data center!
At least for MY problems with the PSN speeds, there is no resolution since it's a problem on Sony's end (a problem they refuse to acknowledge). It's a shame since I don't have any issues with any other gaming provider.
EDIT: I'd also like to point out, the problem is isolated ONLY to downloads. I can upload to the PSN without hitting my cap. I tested this with cloud storage. I was able to upload about 3gb of game saves in less than 2 minutes. After the uploads completed, I would still hit a throttled connection after about 30 seconds

I now manage to consistently get high speeds every time I start or resume a download after pausing it... However I've been unable to get the downloads to keep downloading for long times without crawling to a halt... so basically I can download at good speeds but only if I'm constantly monitoring the download to pause it and resume it if it stops.... I've also noticed that sometimes the download completely stops and sent a message "cannot download"... I assume this is when I completely get disconnected from the server but its disappointing the PS4 won't try to reconnect automatically as this is something the PS3 did.
@DualWielding: Its the nba 2k16 download mate. Its exactly the same issue I had. Either download it early doors when downloads speeds are a lot higher (8am-11:30am are my goto download times) and yes you have to babysit the download. Its a nightmare. It will stop downloading completely for a minute or so on occasion but usually you will be fine if you keep pause / resuming.
If I had to do this again I would have a breakdown.
