Want to start by saying this isn't some picky I don't have perfect graphics complaint. Don't care about framerate and all that just want to casually play games like I have been. Long story short I cant play games that I was playing just fine up until a few days ago. If I were to upload a picture of the issue it would be a tv where you can see some Diablo 4 in the corners and 3/4 of the middle of the screen just bright clusters of lines and circles. I thought it was the game but now I'm seeing that its all games, but not the homescreen or maps in game. Just got a new PS5 about 2 weeks ago. I've been playing it a good bit at least 100 hours since then and out of nowhere its tearing or artifacting or whatever people call it. I've been playing elden ring, RE4, diablo 4 etc all on the default I guess 4k quality, hdr on, the normal settings for a new console and a 4k tv. So I don't understand why it's doing this now... I just don't see the point in messing with alot of graphics setting on the system and the tv when everything was fine and high quality before. It started on Diablo 4 a couple of days ago, I thought it was an issue with the game but hopped back on elden ring earlier and it was doing it as well. It's not just some annoying thing that happens to make me mad about not having perfect quality, it's typically been making the games unplayable. On Diablo 4 roughly 60-70% of my screen ends up being just massively illuminated and i literally just cant see enemies or play the game in general. Alot of bright lines and circles, doing the same on elden ring. I've tried some things like testing a new hdmi, hooking up to a different tv, letting the system cool off completely then playing. I didn't want to mess with settings much because they weren't messed up to begin with but i did with no luck. Eventually just returned all of the settings back to normal since i don't think it has to do with them.
Other details would be that on diablo 4 I can look at the map and menu with no issues, same for elden ring, i can view the map normally but the actual game is going crazy graphically. the main menu and loading screens on elden ring seem to be fine, the main menu and character select screen on diablo show the issues. With diablo it's just a bunch of random shakes and distortions that dont interfere much, but in the game these turn into lines and get very bright and lump together to do an attack on my vision.
Also on the PS5 theres no graphics issue with the homescreen or on youtube just in the games. There wasn't an issue with bleach brave souls but that's not a real game, it's a phone game on console. Any ideas here? Seems like gpu issues and I just bought the system and got a 2 year warranty so I assume ill be fine other than having to go without for a bit which will suck with FF16 coming out. Also i played the ff16 demo yesterday after having graphics issues on diablo 4 and ff16 played fine with no issue. Just confused here, i played a solid 30-40 hours on elden ring, 30 hours on kakarot, and 50-60 hours on diablo before anything weird started happening. Like I said the ff16 ran just fine after having the issues on other games so I assume it isn't just a straight up bad gpu right? if a high quality game like that runs fine. So I'm trying to use my brain here but I see reasons why it might not be settings, might not be gpu, might not be heating issues.
Also one last thing I got a fan to hook up to the back of it, it worked fine for a few days but idk if that had an effect because it was fine before I got the fan, though it was fine for a few days before issues started after I had been using the fan. It's not like I hooked the fan up and issues began, but there wasn't an issue until a few days after getting it. If for some reason those things are janky. I tried all the basic things as well without the fan plugged in to make sure. I rambled on and made the same points multiple times but I'm trying to give context here because I don't want some advice like try updating the system. Want to point out once again that it worked fine in every way for a week and a half with anything I wanted to do, so it isn't the tv. No setting were changed on system or in game at any point until issues started and I started trying to troubleshoot, here I am now. The only issue i had at all was skyrim crashing but I do think it's just the game there, and it wsant doing what the games are doing now.
If it matters the PS5 is a disk version and practically brand new. All of my games are digital

Another update... Now ive started checking other games to see and the only ones without the issue so far are Bleach brave souls and yugioh master duel, which arent real games graphically. tried opening tales of arise and strangers of paradise which ive already played a little bit on and both of them just freeze on startup so idk if they are messed up with graphics, but theyre definitely messed up. What is this issue now... this thing is literally 15 days out of a gamesop brand new. Crisis core remake loaded in but is unplayable and the cutscenes are unwatchable, the games that wont even load now did before.

@JustinF It's unlucky but faulty units happen. That definitely does sound like a faulty GPU even if it doesn't affect 100% of the games.
Good news is that if it's that new you should have no problems replacing it for another unit. I'd do it straight away.

@JustinF If you bought the warranty from Gamestop, you are able to just take it back and get another PS5.
