Has anyone recently been able to copy PS4 saved data to a USB stick, on a PS5?
The UI suggests I should be able to do it, but when I go in to view saved data on the console, to copy it to usb, it tells me there is 0kb available on the USB drive.
Earlier, if I went in to the UI to copy saved data FROM the usb drive to the console, it was telling me there was 800 megs of free space on the USB stick, while still telling me there was 0kb available when I went to copy data TO the usb drive. I've formatted it since then, but that hasn't helped.
This just feels like the functionality is broken on PS5, so I'd love to hear from anyone who has it working!
@JigsawPieces Was the usb formatted ? and if you formatted already for PS4 maybe it wouldn’t be compatible with the PS5 unless you formatted again , which is why you’re only able to copy from it , and not put data on it from the PS5 ? i’m not sure .
also , maybe the USB was out-of-date . i remember some USBs being awful to use on PS4 , but they were still usable .
i haven’t tried this myself because i transferred my data wireless when i first got the ps5 , but my screen captures and videos from ps4 didnt transfer so i had to use a formatted USB for it , and it was able to show up in the ps5 media when i plugged it in
@nomither6 It had been formatted on the PS4 I think. The weird thing is that the PS5 seemed to be happy to read it in one place (it could list what was on it, as well as show the free space, in the "USB storage" tab) but it got it wrong in another place (the copy-to-usb tab).
I did try re-formatting it in the PC (it was FAT 32 originally, I reformatted it using exFAT) but that didn't help.
I think maybe you're right that it was just out of date in some sense, as it was one of our older USB sticks.
