I was going to write that blocking is perfect when someone is harassing and insulting you because they are fans of something blue, red or green that you are not or vice versa. Some of them keep reading you and harassing you after you have ignored them. If you ignore them, they still see your posts, but you can't see their posts and report them. It has happened to me. If you block them, at least they need to do something else to read your comments, or make sock accounts to bother you, that you should report. That has also happened to me. However, after reading antdickens, I think that what I said is being acknowledged but, in those cases, you now would need to request the block or report the user, but you can't read them if you have ignored them, unless you un-ignore them. Blocking is useful in those cases I explained, since banning is not usual here, but I can also understand why the administrator would limit it if some users have not used it as intended. Interesting topic.

@Northern_munkey You don't need to justify yourself. Even if someone thinks you are wrong, that doesn't mean that you are wrong, even if you just don't want somebody else reading your comments.

Good move. I've never blocked anyone on here since I an just not respond or ignore it without help - I just don't see the point. I was wondering why I was seeing posts of certain people again and now I now why since I've actually taken a look at the forums again.
