@get2sammyb Why do you write about PS news exclusively? If you cover PC, Xbox and Nintendo you will attract a lot more people.

@Bismarck I don't know if I'm in the minority or not here but one of the main reasons Push Square is my primary gaming news site is because it's fully dedicated to the platform I do my gaming on.
Also, if you look at Nintendo Life and Pure XBOX, you'll probably notice that they're all part of the same network.

@Voltan PushSquare can make those other websites go the way of the dodo. Total world domination.

@Bismarck Why don’t Pizza Hut sell flugelhorns?

Whether you choose a Single Platform or Multi-platform based website, each comes with its pros and cons. A dedicated single platform site will often bring you news, reviews etc that multi-platform sites may not cover or will get lost in the sea of information.

A lot of multi-platform sites do exist - IGN is perhaps one of the biggest known multi-platform sites - but you may not easily find a review or news about some small 'indie' game because its not going to get the 'clicks' that a big AAA game coming in a year or more generates.

Whatever decisions are made, you aren't going to escape the Toxic Fanboys - whether that's just the audience or even the articles that flame these. That's just the nature of the industry it seems. The difference is that a multi-platform site tends to bring more conflict because of opposing fanboys where as single platform sites tend to be much more heavily bias in both Journalistic and audience so can be much more 'free' to attack their competitors without much (if any) retaliation.

Point is - both have pros and cons and I think it's great that both exist. As a 'multi-platform' gamer, I still regularly visit both single platform & Multi-platform based gaming sites. In fact, both PushSquare and PureXbox are the 2 main sites I check multiple times a day for 'news' as its collected from the internet and put into a convenient place to check for the main Platforms I use. On IGN for example, their news is filled with TV/Movie news, Nintendo news, PC only news etc etc so not the easiest to find 'specific' news to my interests.

I don't think (or want) PushSquare (or PureXbox, NintendoLife etc) to disappear or 'merge' into one multi-platform site so that single platform users can easily find all the news, reviews etc specific to their platform of choice.

A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

The scrolling article ad thing at the top of the homepage is broken on mobile. It expands off the side causing horizontal scrolling. It doesn't happen immediately, like 5 or 10 seconds after the page finishes loading.

@KidBoruto That's so weird, I can't even find this article in the database anymore. Hm, I'll have to ask the others next week if they can remember what we did with this.

Have you heard back from the team yet? I'm curious as to what happened to the original article/guide.

Avalanchee

Hi!
Recently discovered this gem of a website (mostly thanks to Sacred Symbols) and added it to my RSS reader.
I noticed that the RSS entries lack a central image. It makes the posts far less readable compared to other feeds on my reader. A header image built into the post would make it easier to understand what the post is about from a quick glace.
The actual articles on the website already carry images, so it's just a matter of embedding them into the RSS HTML.

Was wondering if something like that is possible or it would be too complex for your CMS.

Thanks and great to be here!

Can you add a way to hide Time Extension articles? There seems to be more and more of them popping up on Push Square cluttering the article listing these past few weeks.

Edit: can someone tag me once this fixed? Until then I'm going to look for another site to get my playstation news from.

Tasuki

@Milktastrophe That seems to be a new feature on all their sites. Time Extension will have articles from Push Square, Nintendolife, and Pure Xbox. Nintendolife will have articles from the other sites as well and the same with Pure Xbox.

I guess it's to drum up more traffic on the other sites.

@Milktastrophe @Tasuki @kyleforrester87 Yeah, pretty sure these are all partner sites under the same parent company. So I don’t think there would be an option to hide them. I don’t mind them too much and have clicked on a couple of the articles out of curiosity.

@Th3solution Yep, look at the bottom of any Push Square web page and you will see a list sites under the same umbrella.

Don't really see the issue though. Just don't click on the article if you don't want to read it. It is not like I'm reading every article on the front page of Push Square, and nor would I expect everyone of them to be of interest to me. 🤷‍♂️
