Alright so I scored a beta invite through the E3 app on the PS4. Been wanting to try it out for some time now. Anyone else in the beta? Post your thoughts here, I will be posting mine later on today.

Well my son has been trying it out for the past few hours and I have to say it has been running much better then I expected. I am not even using an ethernet cable either just running it on WiFi (although my modem is about 10 feet away from my PS4).
But yeah everything is running smoothly and honestly if I didn't know I would think he was playing the game on our PS4 itself. As of now the only thing that will make me not get the Playstation Now when it goes live is if the price point for the games and such is a really ridiculous price. But so far I am liking it.
Heck if the Playstation TV is able to get the Playstation Now I am seriously thinking of picking one of those up for my son's room.

I've had the beta for a while but there haven't been any gamesmive been interested in that I didn't already own. The one my wife played ran very smoothly.

Yeah I can see where this service would be a useless to those who have a decent PS3 library but for some one like me who skipped PS3 this is a great service.
Anyone know if they add games to the Beta or rotate the games weekly or something along those lines?

You need a pretty good connection. I think 12 mb/s would work just fine. 5 or 6 mb/s works for the most part but it isn't totally reliable. Then again that's 5 or 6 mb/s over wifi so maybe it would be enough if you're plugged in.
But PSNow is really amazing. I can't wait until the open Beta. Didn't they say they're going to add 100 games? I was happy with 10.
Man my son is really racking up the time on the Playstation Now. He is totally hooked on Overlord lol. It is really a much better service then I thought it would be. I am thinking that if the Playstation TV comes out this holiday season Santa might be bringing my son one.

Sony is genius, tapping into the rental market.
Thanks. I wanted to know the connection requirement. I would need to improve my connection, so for the extra charge each month I am not sure it will be good for me.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

No problem. Sometimes my 5 or 6 mb/s works perfectly and other times it has troubles. I need to experiment with a wired connection because I would be disappointed if I rented a game and couldn't play it because of streaming issues.

So they updated Playstation Now for me adding prices for games. So far it looks like they have the following time limits 4 Hours, 1 Day, 30 Days and 90 Days iirc. The prices ranged depending on the game. Like I saw some PSN games for 7.99 for a 90 day rental, but then a game like Deus Ex: Human Revolution they wanted $29.99 for a 90 day rental which to me is a ripoff especially when you can get the game new on Amazon for $12.
Still I am not sure if these price points will stick because this is a beta but I guess if for example you don't have access to a Playstation 3 or similar last gen system this could be a good deal or if you just want to try out a game before buying it.
Still it seems promising.

Sony has absolutely blown it with the prices in the beta for "newer" games. They absolutely have to change it or they have blown it. $4.99 for a 4 hour rental is nowhere close to reviving the game rental business. $4.99 should be 2 or 3 days. 4 hours shouldn't even be an option.
If they really want to have 4 hour rental be an option, it needs to be at an impulse price of $.99 otherwise 24 hours should be the shortest duration and it should be cheaper than the $4.99 they are asking for 4 hours.
Yeah, I saw some of these prices and started laughing. Sony is no stranger to stupid pricing decisions but $4.99 for 4 hours is laughable. Honestly I think the shortest duration should be a 1-day rental and maybe $3 tops. Even that's pushing it really.
Just don't pay for it. They are beta-ing the prices as well. And the publishers are involved with the pricing as well. If they see that nobody is willing to pay that then hopefully they'll lower it.

I'd be most interested in renting games like wolfenstein for a day or a weekend knowing I can complete it in that timeframe. Renting for 3 months at stupid prices doesn't appeal, any game that's going to take me many weeks or months to complete isn't worth renting.

You can always send them a report on your beta experience including the price values, after all that is the whole point of a beta program.
Honestly I have seen alot of complaints about the pricing so I wouldn't be surprised if the values or even the durations get tweaked before going live. Again this is what beta is all about.
Of course now if they were to offer Twisted Metal on Playstation Now, well then I will be making a purchase.
