@kyleforrester87: Daughters first birthday mate I'm afraid. No plans on buying the upgrade just yet, I'm so far behind on the last one. No doubt I will be back on Destiny, more than likely in October / November.

Thanks to @kyleforrester87 for directing me here! I didn't realize this thread was here. Anyways, just picked up the Destiny Collection, and I will hopefully be playing it a bit later. But I am looking for some PSN people to play with at times, because unfortunately a lot of the people I work with although they have PS4s don't play destiny. I am new to the series so I will probably start from scratch and work my way up a bit, so I can enjoy the game. I know I can use the level 40 jump, and I may create a character for that, but I really want to just enjoy the game as a whole. I look forward to hopefully playing with some of you all!
@scubydo: I just started out recently too. Not gotten the Collection yet (waiting to see how much I like vanilla first. had it for ages but never played much) but if you're going through the Vanilla version, I'd be willing to keep some company. Level 17 at the moment
@ShadowofSparta: awesome thanks! It will probably be tomorrow before I can start playing. RL beckons first.
Just to update you, I tried to add you, but it seems the "friend request" is down on my end for some reason. I will try to add you later.
And @kyleforrester87, if you don't mind to add me to the Destiny group that would be great!
Please don't flame the new guy in destiny here, but I have a question about leveling my "class". I am playing the titan, and of course I realize the XP gained is from multiple things (killing enemies, bounties, quests, etc). I hit level 15, and unlocked my sub-class defender, and I am wondering how do I go about leveling up parts of this subclass? Also, do the two classes work together, or do I need to swap them out entirely in order to focus on striker or defender? Sorry, if these are very newbie questions, but I am still learning the ropes.
@scubydo: Equip the sub-class you want to level up and earn XP. You need to equip the sub-class you want to use, but you can fully upgrade them and switch between then whenever you want. I hope that helps.
@scubydo: As you asked here, I will answer here - It makes more sense this time.
Levelling up any subclass is exactly the same as each other. Each requires the same XP as each other to reach the maximum level. Once you reach level 15 with one character, you can start unlock all sub classes on all characters - you don't need to level up the Gunslinger (hunter) or Voidwalker (Warlock) to 15 to unlock their other subclasses if you start a new character. Only the equipped Subclass gains XP though.
What you can do to unlock some of the basics - like a grenade, jump, super and melee without actually 'playing' - which can be hard-work in some places without these - is to complete bounties and then switch to the subclass you want to upgrade before cashing them in. The XP from these will always go to the 'equipped' subclass - not that one you completed them on. Once you have these 'basics' unlocked, its a lot easier to 'play' as these subclasses - I recommend going to a place (like the Cosmodrome) and completing 'Patrol' missions, Public Events and of course 'bounties' to upgrade the subclasses quicker to get them to a similar point. It can be tough to switch to a Subclass and continue with the story with only the basics unlocked.
Each subclass as its 'strengths'. Generally I play more as a defender but that's because I play mostly in the Raids as part of a team and that is the most useful in this activity. With Rise of Iron though, I have spent more time playing Solo and that has enabled me to use the other Subclasses. Personally I prefer the 'Sunbreaker' over the Striker but each has its strengths and uses - especially in the 'end-game' activities. Sometimes we get strikes where a certain 'element' is beneficial - this week there is an 'Arc-burn' where Arc deals more damage so Striker is more beneficial (Arc based class).
In the 'early' stages, it doesn't really matter so much which class you specialise in. If you intend to play co-operatively, generally though the Defender is more likely to be your 'go-to' Titan class. Striker in general is the least useful in these but not 'useless'.
A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!
Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
