@iDangerMouse_: just seen your thread that got locked down and I remembered this thread that started out as a call for a sort of one off community event but then progressed to being more about setting up regular gaming nights with PS users, without being tied down to any one particular game.

I figure you should be good to carry on your intended topic using this thread, seeing as it was deemed acceptable use before, despite all the games being mentioned here having their own pages. @Tasuki I get that it's tidiest to only have one thread per game, but it's not a bad idea to keep one extra more casual thread around where people can arrange a time to game together without being committed to a certain game and can just decide on the fly. Also you actively participated on this thread previously when it was being used for this purpose, so it has to be ok!

@SteveButler2210: Actually the reason @iDangerMouse thread was locked was because he was asking if anyone wants to play Rocket League or Destiny when we clearly have an active online multiplayer for both games.

I feel that the point of having the dedicated online threads for a specific game is great for the community and helps promote community togetherness rather then a hundred "looking for Destiny players threads". Rather then having a bunch of small groups, doing the same thing, it's more productive to have a large group were we all get to know each other. Now I understand that people are going to want or have to play at different times, but still you can post that in the main thread.

If you guys want to have a specific game night I am all for that (unfortunately yeah I stated this thread but at this time I can't commit to such a thing due to some things happening in my life) but post it in a way were you are not asking to play a certain game otherwise it becomes redundant and you could just post it in the main thread.

Here's two examples

Bad Example

Hey guys let's play Madden on Friday nights at 8 pm to midnight.

Good Example

Hey guys let's get together on Friday nights between 8 pm and Midnight and play some games. Once we get together we can discuss what game/ games to play or we can plan out what games to play here.

Hopefully you can see the difference.

I know it might seem that I am nit picking, and I hope it makes sense. What it comes down too is a couple of things.

1) Favoritetism, I can't justify leaving a post open that's specifically asking for people to play Destiny with on Friday night while locking someone else's Looking for Destiny players thread for example.

2) People finding our threads and coming to our site via a search like google. Basically I don't need someone looking specifically looking for a Destiny (again for example) to see that post and then it becoming an online Destiny meet up thread when we have an active one.

Sorry for the long post and I hope this clear things up. Incidentally this thread is a bit old but I will leave it open if you guys have questions/comments about this for me. If you want start a new game night thread but as I said make it a game night not one specific game.

Thanks for understanding.

@Tasuki: I don't mean to cause any trouble here, because I can certainly see the difference between the two examples in your post, and would agree with you locking threads like that. However, I don't see the difference between your "Good" example and the thread which @iDangerMouse started.

Your good example:
"Hey guys let's get together on Friday nights between 8 pm and Midnight and play some games. Once we get together we can discuss what game/ games to play or we can plan out what games to play here."

The beginning of @iDangerMouse's thread:
"This is a thread, as the title says, to organise and set-up gaming sessions on Friday nights! If anyone has any suggestion of games they'd like to play, feel free to lay them down in the thread!"

It just happens that in the second half of his post he made good on the idea of laying down some suggestions in the thread. But the rest of the post is nigh on identical to what you have suggested is an acceptable topic starter. Obviously, at some point in a general gaming nights thread somebody is going to have to make suggestions re certain games, otherwise nothing would ever get played. Seeing as tomorrow is Friday, I think that it's perfectly reasonable that when setting up a thread for arranging Friday Night gaming, the person setting it up might make some suggestions as to the first games.

It seems pretty clear cut to me that in the case of the locked thread, the intent of the thread was to encourage people to make suggestions for potential game nights, rather than being a thread whose entire purpose was to find players for those specific games.

I appreciate you need to appear impartial, but the thread that was locked just doesn't tally with what you're saying is unacceptable. And as for your second point, if it did get to where random people were starting to use the thread for what it wasn't originally intended for, lock it then or politely steer the discussion back to the original intention of the thread - setting up Friday Night gaming sessions.

Ditto apology for long post, I just think we need clarity here, because what you've said is acceptable and the topic you have locked are for all intents and purposes exactly the same :/

@SteveButler2210: Ha Ha ha, your not causing trouble, far from it. I enjoy your suggestions and you do it in a positive way I really appreciate it.

I understand what you are saying and after looking over his post it just comes off more like he's asking for Rocket League and Destiny players for a specific time which he can do it in the main thread. It basically comes down to wording and presentation, if that makes sense.
