So what do you guys think about trophies? at first I thought they were silly but they have grown on me.... I find them specially useful in games like Playstation All Star which I got on PS+ that are mostly about multiplayers. Since I don't play online going for the single player trophies gives me something to do with the game
One thing about trophies for me is it keeps me from trying a game I might not want as it will be stuck in my trophies list and don't want to associated with.
It is not a X button... it's a cross button. Because they are symbols not letters.
I think that they are a good idea, given they are done right. For example, Assassin's Creed 4 had 5 online trophies, and one was get to level 55, while Killzone Shadow Fall has that dreadful Upgrade all Abilities trophy, both of which take FOREVER and I think are a cheap way to keep you playing. But others are fun. I myself am a completionist, or at least I try my hardest, so trophies are a great way to keep me playing. I think that it's a nice way toshow which games are your favorites, because chances are you'd want to platinum your favorite games. Plus I think it's a nice way to show your skill or dedication and show off which trophies you have.
Well I've never cared for trophies, when I feel I'm done with a game I'm done no matter the percentage completion for trophies only game in recent memory that got me chasing trophies and getting a platinum in would be Hotline Miami.
Well my thoughts on trophies range from easy accomplishments, to good challenges that create varied gameplay techniques to furiously frustrating accomplishments to achieve.

The way I see it, the whole idea behind the system adds an addicting meta-game that spans any game you play. The more games you play, the more trophies you earn and the higher your "level" goes. I absolutely love it, however, there's room for improvement. Aside from competitive reasons between friends, there's really no reward for advancing your level. I think there'd be a whole lot more people interested if something was offered (i.e. A certain avatar unlocked after passing level 15, etc.)

I agree, I find silly that there's not even a ping and a notification for leveling up, makes the level bar seems so pointless
Completing a game is enough for me. A great RPG type game I will put more time in to grind out the best skills and gear, but other than as long as I beat the game I am good. I do see how people really enjoy the trophy system though, just more for your money really.
Personally I'm addicted to them. Would never buy a game just for Trophies but if I really like a game I wanna finish it 100% and get the Platinum for it. Proud of my Red Dead Platinum (one of my first) but still annoys me that nearly two years on I'm still missing one DLC trophy - win the high stakes poker game.
What really winds me up is when games add in multiplayer ones. Take FIFA 15 and PvZ: Garden Warfare which I've been playing recently, there are some online trophies where it's not up to you, you're relying on others not messing up. That isn't right. It's a trophy for you, not the group. All games that include multiplayer/online should have a separate trophy list in my opinion.
Personally I can take them or leave them. I am more interested in playing a game for a story or whatever its about. I feel that trophies are put in by developers to make a game longer then it actually is. (geez I am sorry if I dont want to jump 500 times in one spot for a trophy). I know some people enjoy them and thats fine they are just not for me. If I happen to get them when I play through the game then great if not great too, but I am not going out of my way to get them.

I personally couldn't care less about them. I've enjoyed games all my life without these little things popping up in the corner of my television screen... I don't really need them now.
My game library ranges from Mario Kart to Call of Duty to Tales of Xillia to Diablo 3 to Forza. To me gaming is about having fun - not blindly supporting only one company while thumbing your nose at "the evil other systems."

If someone standing in one spot and jumping 500 times for a Trophy (as opposed to letting it happen naturally) then they may as well go book themselves into *that* clinic in Switzerland.
I really enjoy trophies. They add so much more to a game. Look at the Assassin's Creed games; you can eaily complete the game but the trophy list adds so much more to the campaign
Glitched Trophies do my nut in too! Win promotion in seasons on FIFA to get a gold trophy. So I win it. And no trophy. Seems over half the people who do it don't get the trophy. Wonderful. F**king EA!

I had my first ever trophy glitch yesterday, I meet the conditions for mini game maniac Sora in Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories but no trophies.....
anyways I'm not a hardcore trophy hunter and don't have time to play a long RPG multiple times for platinum but I'm still enjoying the things I gave myself a meta goals of reaching level 15 (currently 12 after having started a year ago), getting my 1000th trophy and attaining 50% completion rate at PSNProfiles.com
Last gen I got too addicted, The first thing I would do is check the achievements. Now back on the playstation I will take a peek, but not until at least a few hours into the game. What's crazy is I finished tlou on normal and have 1 bronze and 1 silver trophy... That's it 3% of the total. I finished the game over 18 hours and have 2 trophies.
