I've been a big fan of JRPG's for a couple of years now and I need more to play! Can anyone recommend some good ones for the PS3 or any other Sony system? I've played all of the Personas and Tales of Xillia 1 and 2 and I loved them. I have valkyria chronicles And Tales of Graces F to play but i need more recommendations!
Considering theres an Arland Atelier Trilogy collection (Rorona, Totori and Meruru) & Hyperdimension Neptunia collection (the original,Mk2 & Victory) due for release within the next few months from NISA, I'd recommend waiting for both those to release and pick them up. More than enough Jrpg there then to add to those you have to keep you playing for a while and will only cost between £30-£40 for each collection
I'd recommend a hell of alot more, but I dabble in the niche Jrpg's which aren't to everyones taste (especially those that play the more mainstream Jrpg series) so it'sbest seeing how you get on with those I mentioned first
Ni No Kuni, Child of Light, Ys Celceta, Final Fantasy X/X2, Altelier Totori, and Tales of Hearts R might all be games you're interested in. I personally really loved White Knight Chronicles on PS3 too, but it's not for everyone.

Ni No Kuni is a magical game with the art done by Studio Ghibli.
I also recommend Atelier: Escha and Logy. It's a pretty good game. It has a good story, good crafting system, good voice acting (even though it needs more of it), characters, and a good combat system.
NIER is probably the JRPG I most enjoyed on the PS3, although a lot of people don't particularly like it. At least give the soundtrack a listen though. :3
NIER is probably the JRPG I most enjoyed on the PS3, although a lot of people don't particularly like it. At least give the soundtrack a listen though; Keiichi Okabe composes some brilliant music.
SInce you seem to like the Tales games; get Tales of Symphonica Chronicles.
Has remasters of the Original end the sequel. Sequal isn't that good, but the first one is regarded as one of the best in the series (for that's Vesperia by a mile, but that was a X360 game).
Haven't played them myself, but when I finish Tales of Hearts R on Vita, I may pick up the game as well (depends how close to sep. 1st it will be....no other game for me for quite some time when Metal Gear Solid 5 releases)
Last generation wasn't too brilliant for JRPGs but Valkyria Chronicles for PS3 and Persona 4 Golden for Vita were brilliant experiences for me... I guess you played the latter, judging from your avatar.
If you don't mind playing older titles I'd definitely recommend Trails in The Sky for PSP/Vita.
Ni No Kuni is absolutely spectacular, I can't recommend it enough! I'm also a big fan of Final Fantasy X, and if you have a PS Vita, you really can't go past Persona 4 Golden

The PS3/360 generation of games was the least inspiring of all generations for RPGs from Japan. Many people seem to recommend Ni no Kuni, but I found the game less than inspiring. The character design was grand, but the gameplay was lacklustre. The avatar/monster system was mediocre at best, and I didn't really enjoy it as a classic RPG fan. I found it clunky and frustrating in boss battles. Star Ocean 4 was more satisfying, and it had a good amount of exploration as it actually had a world map, something sadly absent in RPGs from that generation. Trusty Bell, or Eternal Sonata in western circles was better in engaging enemies. Albeit, it lacked something that I really wanted from RPGs of that generation.
I know a lot of people champion Final Fantasy X, but i still found it very average. More focused on graphics and sound than gameplay. It was also the beginning of the current trend of FF games being very linear with little emphasis on exploration found in fast titles. I never enjoyed the Blitzball game, and found it wanting, although others found it lovely. I got to the final area of it, but never managed to finish it.
If you want to play a truly standout RPG series, look to Yakuza. There are 2 main story games on PS3, with Yakuza 5 coming in 2015. It has just about everything you'd want in a modern RPG. Action, absolutely fabulous plot, great voice acting (in Japanese), and nothing you wouldn't want. Fantastic character development, and it's just something worth playing. I've already given Sony my money for it's PSN preorder, and I would encourage you to do the same. Yakuza is as good as it gets for Japanese culture infused into an RPG.

I agree this thread is done. I am sure the op has found what he has been looking for by now.
