Hey guys! This week some old final fantasy games are on sale, and I noticed the only offline ff I haven't played (well, starting with IV) is apart of that. Final fantasy IX. So, I wanted your opinion of this particular entry. Is it fun? Does it stand the test of time?
FYI, my top three favorites are VI (Snes), X (Ps2), and VII (ps1).
in my opinion FF IX is one of the best in the series, a true underrated classic that only had so much stick because of how it looked at the time with FF VII & FF VIII going for a realistic look a lot of reviewers didn't like the fantasy look IX had, I loved it
as for the game it's battle system is what you would expect EXCEPT every character is unique with the moves they have EG: Zidane is your thief, Vivi is the Black Mage, Quina the Blue mage I think you get the idea
as for the story it's good but does take some cues from Dragon Ball Z with the main character having a tail as one example and if you ever watched DBZ you will see the similaritys but it's mot a bad thing
as for has it aged well, yes it has it's still fun to play and the graphics are still nice a fit perfectly with the world and feel of this game
in short this is probably one of the best FF games but doesn't get the acclaim games like FF VII get simply because FF VII was a revolution to the series and in my opinion FF IX is the perfection of it
"I pity you. You just don't get it at all...there's not a thing I don't cherish!"
"Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!
