Hey guys, just wondering if you could recommend any good rpgs on the ps3 Mainly lookin fo jrpgs like final fantasy, star ocean, tales etc. But i do like rpgs like skyrim and kingdom of amalur as well. Shout away!
Dragon's Dogman: Dark Arisen is a brilliant sort-of-open-world Japanese take on a western style-RPG. Can't go wrong - one of the best on PS3.
Dragon's Crown is brilliant as well if you're into loot. Stunning art style, too, although it's more of an arcade game with level repetition and stuff. Still, highly recommend it.
Tales of Xillia is (in my opinion) the best Tales game on PS3 by a mile, so that's definitely one to look into as well if you want a more anime-style JRPG with colourful characters, etc.
Forgot to mention Dragon Age: Origins. Runs a bit poorly on PS3 but it's still a very good BioWare RPG. Might not be what you're looking for, though.
And @ztpayne7, I know how you feel. Looking back at the PS2 JRPG library then back at PS3 is indeed a bit depressing. Hopefully this changes for PS4... but I sort of doubt it, especially since big games like Persona 5 and Tales of Zestilia are heading straight to PS3.
Played Dragon Age and Rainbow moon, both great! Tbh i thought i had missed out on a lot of rpgs this gen but apparently i havnt lol
It depends on who you talk to on the issue of Jrpg's this gen. While there hasn't been many mainstream Jrpg's this gen causing the pretentious among us to declare it a disappointing generation, those like myself who enjoy the more niche games haven't found it so bad. NISa, Ghostlight, Koei etc have brought over some good titles. Not genre defining but good & on a fairly consistent basis too. Here's a list but it's still got a lot of games missing off it but you could use it as a starting point if your looking into trying more. To be honest I've preferred the niche side of Jrpg's this gen due to the wacky characters n zany premise making them more fun to playthrough, plus they're created on shoestring budgets compared to the mainstream titles so there quirks are more forgivable. I just though I'd point out theres more than just the usual mainstream RPG's out there.

I don't know if this is an obvious one, but the Chrono series, Final Fantasy series and Legends of the Dragoon are all on PSN. If you haven't played all of them, they are all good, so try 'em out.

This is exactly what i was looking for thank you! Sometimes the most unheard of rpgs can be the best!
No worries like I said though there's still a few missing of that list (The guided fate paradox & Disgaea D2 spring to mind [Id reccomend Disgaea D2 all day long just for its trio of characters in Laharl, Etna & Flonne. Some of the best characters in ANY Jrpg]) If I was to give the nod to one id probably go with Valkyria Chronicles (one of the best games this generation, never mind one of the best RPG's) I could probably give you a decent list of niche Jrpg's Ive enjoyed but the niche side of things is very subjective. Plus some buffoons would probably wade in with their usual 'weeabo trash' comments even though they have no idea what they're talking about. Actually, give the Aterlier series a try. It has turn based combat n the like but its mainly focused around alchemy so you gather up ingredients to make potions & objects to fill quota's. Really enjoyed Rorona when I tried it plus you can get Totori & Meruru on Vita if you wanted to play some on the go
