Hey guys!  I'm the owner of an 80gb (upgraded to 1 TB) phat model bc ps3.  Unfortunately, my ps3 just got ylod for the third time (I have someone who fixes it professionally - I've watched him do it and he really knows what he's doing; something isn't quite meshing with the system I guess).  It's still under warranty so I can get it fixed again for free...but I'm really thinking of upgrading to a new ps3.

I wanted your opinions on which is better? Slim or super slim?  In the pictures, the super slim looks ultra cheap to me - like it wouldn't stand the test of time.  What are the pros and cons of both? I don't really care about size or weight in particular, and I don't think I'm necessarily a big fan of the top-loader format.  Does one of them run faster? Better wifi?  The size of the hard drive doesn't really matter either because I can put my 1 TB in.

Any helpful input would be great! I'm a super big fan of the ps3 library, so I definitely want to get one that will last me a while.

I've only had the regular slim and it works just fine. the disc-eating mechanism is way cooler than a top loader

Also - do all slims only have 2 USB ports?

I had the red slim, which I think was one of the last versions, that only had 2 USB ports.

Almost certain all slim/super slim only have 2 USB ports. I think only some of the big old units had more than 2.

I own a super slim and it has 2 USB ports. I've owned both the Slim and Super Slim and prefer the Super Slim.

I wasn't a fan of the top loader at first but it's growing on me. Being able to take the game out with out turning on the PS3 if you need to is nice.

I got the Super Slim mainly for the bigger HD,Smaller and White. That said I wouldn't say one does anything better than the other. They are the same on how they perform.

My 60GB had 4, I think from the 40GB and 80GB onwards they knocked it down to 2.

How would you compare the durability and sturdiness of the two?  Do you feel like the super slim is more fragile?

@Kalofkrypton
My 80 gb has 4 ports.  A lot of people might wonder why I care so much, but I'm an avid Rock Band player, so I really make use of all those ports.

Ah, must be the 40 onwards then.

Not really much of an issue for, a good USB hub is very cheap these days.

I personally like the slim better  because I dont like the disc port on the super slim
And yes it has only 1 charge port
