@Th3solution yeah I’m also a firm advocate for remakes/remasters for the same reasons. I can’t tell you how happy I am about the upcoming remasters of the Soul Reaver games… I’ve been wanting to experience them for so long. Those and the original Mercenaries were probably my most wanted remasters/remakes but I’d certainly be down for the Resistance Trilogy also… and even though I’ve played and plat’d inFAMOUS 1 & 2 I’d happily play them again too.
Well, we’ll see if the supposed God of War: Greek Saga materialises and if so, how that sells because if it does well it could prompt Sony (& other publishers) to root around their forgotten classics 🤞.
@colonelkilgore I remember quite liking the Soul Reaver games. I’m not sure how well they’ll hold up, but at the time they were great.
I do wonder if Infamous would hold up due to the high saturation of ‘superhero’ games and the explosion of Marvel and DC. At the time, there wasn’t as many comic book-inspired games and so Infamous filled a void. Resistance, on the other hand, is still the type of game we don’t really have, especially in the first party. Narrative driven alternate history FPS. I guess there’s the Wolfenstein games, so maybe those have chased Sony away from revisiting the genre? I only played some of the first Resistance game, and my difficulty with FPS, as well as other life pursuits led me away and it was during that down time that Resistance 2 & 3 came out and I just never engaged with the series. I’d love to have a second chance.
I did play all the God of Wars, although I might have only played part of Ascension; not sure if I finished it. I like them and I think a remastered release might do okay, but probably won’t sell like a new game would.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
@Th3solution yeah they won’t sell like a new entry but they’d cost less to produce too. So I played the inFAMOUS games fairly recently and they still play fantastically… but yeah they might not sell as well as they deserve due to all the more established superhero ip that has come out after.
I’m really surprised that Microsoft haven’t announced remasters of Fallour 3 and New Vegas what with how hot the ip is again… I’d be well up for playing a ps5 remaster rather than chancing it with the ps3 bug-fest.
Obviously Bloodborne would be the big one. I’ve mentioned it before but if Sony could unveil a Bloodborne remaster from Bluepoint and a Bloodborne sequel from From at the PS6 reveal… the internet would explode so hard that it’ll probably birth a whole new universe 🤯
