its been more than half a year now , and im just ready to move on to the PS5 , but they dont exist. Granted id still just be playing the same games on it that im playing now , but the upgrade is needed . Hypothetically , what if i had a ps5 and the same games i always played all-of-a-sudden felt like a brand new game . but these days , the world may never know.
I dont even think its real and im just in a coma ; a console that looks like a spaceship ? no way .
Same. If I could walk into a shop and buy a ps5 I would've, however I still play ps4 daily and have a backlog of 60+ games i'm meaning to get around to. So apart from slight jealousy and slower loading times etc I still definitely enjoy my ps4

Considering I still have the base PS4, I've been tempted to buy a PS5 recently but ultimately I don't want to buy a new system just to play games I already own and can play on a current system. So yes, I'm still enjoying my PS4. I'm actually taking this time to go through as many games as I can from my backlog before I move on completely to the next generation of consoles. PS4 is my favourite PlayStation system of all time and it has so many great games that I still need to experience before moving on. So I think I'll still be enjoying it for at least a few more years.
The PS5 is basically the PS4 Pro Pro for now. Although I really do appreciate how much better PS4 games run on it. And the 4K Blu-Ray drive is a big bonus.
Do I play PS4 game? Yes.
Do I use my PS4 anymore. No.
PS5 has some great exclusives, and my new favorite multiplayer game, Chivalry 2, isn't nearly as good on PS4, the PS5 version is much better, so it's been paying for itself just fine with PS5 games. Plus a lot of PS4 games play better on it.
Hold on a minute @RogerRoger, are you telling us that people actually want to play old games? That's preposterous! Everyone knows that when we enter a new generation, we drop everything we're currently playing and only play current-gen titles. You gotta follow the law of gaming, as written by the holy Ryan himself.
Just cos people don't only play PS5 games does not make it a bad console, which is what some people seem to think judging by some of the general comments I've seen around the web. No doubting the PS4 was a great console, but I don't miss it and I actually begrudge using my dad's when I'm over my parents house as it feels really sluggish to use. The qol improvements may not seem much to some, but the difference has been night and day to my daily gaming.

@Jaz007 im sure it is . im tired of this console , and ive never been tired of a console before. especially since the ps5 is BC . this paperweight needs to go , its gotten slower over the years too , and as new games continue to come out its like i have to wait to play them because i don't have the 5. why even bother with the ps4 version .
@nomither6 My PS4 felt like it was on its last legs too being an OG model. It is still going, but is used a lot less then when I was using it. If you have a PS4 Pro, the differences will be less noticeable. Which is one of the reasons I'm not keen on the mid gen upgrades.
It also nice to be able to hear games lol. My PS4 was really loud at times. Apart from when the console boots up and a game first loads up on disk, my PS5 is so quiet.
My mate recently got one after not been overly impressed with what people were saying but now he has one he is like 'Yep, you were right, it does make a difference'.

@nomither6 No, but my PS4's original harddrive broke a couple of years ago and so I decided to get a new one that's 1 TB instead. Although I realise now that it wasn't necessary because I just delete all games that I've installed once I've finished the games. I also don't buy that many digital games. I mean, after having used it for three years now, I still have around 500 GB free space so storage isn't an issue for me.
I have a standard PS4 that I bought seven years ago this week. Happy birthday to a really good machine!
I play games nearly every day, and although I would buy a PS5 tomorrow if I could, that's not going to be an option for a LONG time, it seems. So, for the forseeable future, playing games on the PS4 is going to be the only option I've got.
The issue is that lately, developers have clearly not been making games so that they'll function as well as they could on the standard PS4. The last two editions of MLB The Show have looked FAR worse than the ones that came before them, and AC Valhalla looks clearly worse than AC Odyssey and Origins on the same machine. That's been extremely frustrating, and I expect that its only going to get worse.
As it stands, I don't know how many games I'll buy new from here on out. Probably two or three more this year, and then who knows. There aren't really any on the horizon after that where I'd buy the PS4 version and accept a far lower quality game than what will be on the PS5. So next year might end up being my bleakest year in gaming, period. (as someone who's been playing games on consoles since the 80s)
I sure am. I just got my ps4 pro a few years ago. Feels new to me. Prior to that I was getting full use out of my Wii U. I like to work on one system at a time. I'm always a ways behind, I end up getting serious bargains this way.
I keep my PS4 around to play modern Playstation exclusives on (and the occasional game that was a really good deal on PSN). Considering stuff like Horizon Forbidden West, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, etc. will likely run perfectly fine on it, I feel no particular need to replace it with a PS5. Especially since I have some really nice themes on my system now, and none of those will carry over to the next-gen console.
So, yeah, I'll probably be riding this particular horse well into the future.
