Played the first level last night. It's exactly what I wanted! Not serious, fun, easy enough for my kids to learn platforming but the time trial and getting all the boxes adds more challenge if you want it.
As for graphics, it really doesn't need 4K or 60fps, honestly. I wish I had an HDR tv, but oh well.
Oh, and I didn't see an option to play the first level as coco... so that option may be limited to certain levels or ng+
So...Crash Bandicoot. Long load times. Not good. Controls is a little loose. And Im playing the third level of the original and can only see Crash by his blue pants. Since Im colour blind the rest of him is invisible.
And Ive heard the bike and jet ski in Crash 3 are slightly borked as well.
Ive got a bad feeling.

@KratosMD Crash 1 doesnt suck anymore. The QOL stuff like box totals, saving, not having to perfect a stage for a box gem, playable Coco. All good.
Crash doesnt feel as heavy in this as in the original. My concern is if that passes to 2 and 3 and how it works there.
But so far its perfectly fine. Just not great.
And Im not actively looking for things. This has just happened in my play of the first 5 levels XD Literally my first impressions have been empty textures and animation glitches.

Yeah man bugs can be a pain, but I worked my ar*e off all week and I'm gunna spend the night on the sofa with a couple of beers smashing some crates and having a jolly old time.
I downloaded it. Last night, at the stroke of midnight, I turned to my girlfriend and said, "Do you fancy a go on the first level of Crash Bandicoot before bed to see what it's like?"
Forty minutes later I was downloading the original Crash Bandicoot on PS3, because she was adamant that the game doesn't feel the same as the original and that's why she was dying. It does feel a bit different to be fair. Looks great though.
So...remember what I said about Crash 1 having better game design? Its selective. Colour gems you still need to do it without dying. Clear gems you do not.
Why.

Really enjoying it so far. It's faithful almost to a fault, so all of the original issues remain. But it's wonderful nostalgia, and they've done a brilliant job with the animations and visual upgrades.
@KratosMD I went with all speed I could. Often fell just short.
I think Crash 1 is better in the remake but a few things couldve been changed. I guess they kept the dumb dont die requirement to make colour gems special and more tricky.
