According to PlayStation Lifestyle Activision has revealed that their own Vicarious Visions is handling the remaster. I would have preferred someone like Bluepoint doing it. But if it's just a straight remaster like FFVII then it should be fine. I think what I and most people wanted was Sony to really acknowledge Crash's importance to Sony establishing the PlayStation brand.
Agreed, I think it's very good to get Crash back for the sake of variety. As you have already said, it's going to be a remake of Naughty Dog's games, so I think everything is going to be alright. I would love a Crash Team Racing game as well.
I really don't like the navigation bar of Nintendo Life continuously reappearing while browsing!!
@adf86: Bluepoint is good in making games shine however i think the developer is good enough. A remake from the ground up sounds like something what happened with ratchet and clank.
What would have been really nice would have been a remaster of Crash Team Racing with online multiplayer. Cos I honestly feel it was the best non Mario Kart game ever.
I don't have much faith in Activision's competency in all honesty, I can see them making a mess of such a simple job. Hopefully they will manage but I doubt they truly understand what made the games so popular to begin with. More than happy for them to prove me wrong of course.
I'd have preferred Crash Team Racing to the trilogy. But, I think it is still great. Who knows, maybe if it sells well then they will move on to a new title with the IP.

I'll take the Vita to the grave with me, even if Sony won't.
Skylanders Crash looks pretty damn cool and I like the move sets they’ve added to him for this game. I won’t necessarily buy it due to price and it maybe not being aimed at my age group but looks like a great introduction to Crash for a new audience.
As for the remake, damned if you do change it, damned if you don’t. It’s a remaster of 3 great games so there isn’t that much space to go wrong…problem is that some people will complain at the slightest deviation from the original. Really looking forward to seeing what the remake will look and play like! 🙂
Let’s all just take a moment to be happy that our beloved Bandicoot is back!
I AM SIEGMEYER OF CATARINA AND YOU SHALL FEEL MY WRATH!
@adf86: The problem is with the wording that Shaun Layden used. He said the trilogy is being "remastered from the ground up", and nobody is quite sure what that means. FFVII is just outright being remade.
I'm very curious to see exactly how they're approaching this. It would be kind of weird if they remastered the games in the truest sense of the word, where they polish the old games up and that's that.
I hope Sony/Activision are able to clarify soon. Whatever the outcome, though, Crash is back, and that's great.
To me 'Remastered from the ground up' sounds like they play the old game in the background as a template so to speak and build the new game over the top. That way everything is in exactly the same position, plays the same (except its now 16:9 instead of 4:3). A 'remake' to me says there could be 'differences' (like FF7). A remaster says they are taking the same game and giving it a face lift. So therefore I see a 'Remaster from the ground up' sitting somewhere between the 2 - completely rebuilt in a new engine but retaining everything in exactly the same position, same level design etc.
A pessimist is just an optimist with experience!
Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
