So, this is my thoughts on the whole Destiny raid plans and just a way around them that alot of console gamers are I am afraid failing to see. I wrote this as a way to help others see it's not that bad as people think, and I hope that maybe others will see that as well.
So by now we have heard what Bungie plans to do with the end game content on Destiny. Just in case you have been hiding under rock it be designed as a raid that you will need to have five other friends to finish, and by friends it means friends on your PSN account. Now I know alot of people are thinking well I dont have any friends with a PS4 or any friends that will be playing Destiny, this is a no buy for me, and what was Bungie thinking and this will never work?
Well, my friend I am not so sure that it will never work and yes you may not know five people now but that shouldn't be a deal breaker for you to be picking up Destiny on launch day, and here is why.
First off let me say that I have been an avid gamer of a little game that some of you may have heard of called World of Warcraft for about 5 years now and I can say that the ideas that Destiny has has indeed been working out for games like World of Warcraft and other PC MMOs for years, so this idea is nothing new and it has indeed worked very well for years. Raids are a big part of MMOs and in many cases are the end of the game for them at least story wise. Most raids in these games can take as many as 25 or more people to pull off. Now can you honestly say I know 25 people that play World of Warcraft the answer is yes and this is how. One word guilds
Now just in case you don't know what a guild is basically in a nutshell a guild is a group of players in an MMO who get together and help each in game. The can be for social reasons, or raiding reasons. Some guilds can be huge with several hundred members to smaller ones with a few dozen members thing is though most of these people have only known each other online.
When I first played World of Warcraft I didn't know anyone, I just plowed through the normal single player content leveling up my guys until one day I wanted to try some raiding. Well like I said I didn't know anyone but I wanted to meet people so what I did is I went to the World of Warcraft forums and looked under the "guild recruitment" section and began reading guild recruitment posts like one might look through the singles section of the newspaper. After reading what each one had to offer, what their views were their playtime etc I began talking with some of them via the forums and before long I was in a very good guild. Now do you honestly think there wont be recruit posts on the Destiny site looking for other people to raid with? What about other sites like Pushsquare, Gamefaqs, IGN? Chances are all these sites will have posts made by people looking to find more members to do these raids. Let me say that that guild that I joined in WoW I still am a proud member of to this day, and many of the people in it I would consider a close friend.
Another thing to keep in mind is the fact that there will be other players that you meet throughout your journey in Destiny. Dont be shy about asking that guy that you have been teaming up with for the last few missions for a PSN friend invite. Even though you are not anywhere close to the raid level by the time you get there you will have a friend already in line to help you out. While this might not get you as many people as a guild for example it can get you that extra man you need, and there is that off chance that that guy might be in a guild as well.
Once you get into a guild finding five people on to tackle a raid wont be to difficult. So maybe Destiny's ideas aren't to far fetched. I mean if it worked this well for other games, why can't it work for Destiny?

Okay we can't play with strangers, why not allow matchmaking with friends only? Make the process easier and I probably won't have any problems. But the fact I have to get through many barriers to experience raids, says it all.
I don't have a problem with raids, just the barriers to access it.

Not sure what you mean by that but they are allowing you to do raids with friends.
@alphadrago5: Yeah you are not going to get to far in that. Raids are designed for top gear groups. A single top gear person would not be able to do it alone. I am not sure how Destiny will handle it but speaking from a World of Warcraft point of view, even if you can take down the bosses by yourself sometimes you run into mechanics that well you need other people to do along with you.

Option 1. What's happening. 1. You find 5 capable guardians in the hope they are able to raid for (numbered) hours. 2. Add them as friends. 3. Set up with whatever you do with raids. 4. Communication is essential but if you don't have a headset dancing, waving and pointing is all you go.
Option 2. Or less barrier central: Matchmake friends and their friends. Set up and go. And 4.
Option 3. Very simple. Matchmaking opened up to everyone and 4
3 > 2 > 1. You have to go through hoops/barriers to access raids and thats no fun when the means already exist in game.

I can understand the concerns but for me, it's not a big deal. No way in hell would I want to play possibly up to three-hour missions with some of the random d-bags that populate PSN and XBL.

Nicely summed up.

I always just mute everyone on cod ghosts either screaming kids in the background, players making dumb noises and whining incessantly or morons broadcasting general convo during play. One will need to find non d bags to play with. My brother has ps4 and is getting destiny and his best friend is getting it too. Will need to find 3 non d bags in the next couple of months.
I can't see any problem with this, as well. I'm sure I will not have any problem finding and befriending some like-minded fellow gamers here on Pushsquare. Some of my rl-friends will have both Destiny and a PS4 and I had a nice, litte session with Gamer83 and Scollurio in the beta, so...

Only problem is we'd need to find 3 more people on at the same time who want to play. Truthfully I'm really just in this for whatever singleplayer stuff there is so that's why I really don't care about the raid stuff but I'm certainly down for playing some of the end game raids if the 3 of us are on at the same time and we can get a few more people to join in.

It's not that hard as it seems really you just make plans before hand too meet up. That's what we do in WoW anyway.
