I wasn't sure if anyone plays this or has in the past but I am seriously thinking of picking it up for my MMO fix after watching some videos on it. I have some questions though before I commit to it
1) Is there a monthly fee to play it? I can't get a straight answer on this some places say yes $14.99 others say no and then some say yes if you want extra stuff. So if anyone had a straight answer that will be great
2) When you buy the base game how many races/classes do you get? I might pick up the expansions if I enjoy it enough but for now I just want to try it.
3) How well does it play with a controller? The last MMO I played was WoW on PC so I am very familiar with using a keyboard/mouse setup for MMOs but how well does it play with a controller.
@grahamd Yeah that is my thing I played WoW for years till my PC died and have been looking for an MMO to fill that void. I was hoping that WoW Classic would come to console but it doesn't look like it.
Thanks for the response pretty sure I will be picking it up this weekend.

So I noticed that ESO is actually on the Xbox Game Pass so I downloaded it and gave it a shot tonight. I played about an hour, just enough to get pass the tutorial and it was enjoyable to say. I will admit I did feel a bit overwhelmed but that's to be expected with something like this. Probably will give it a go some more tomorrow.

Can anyone tell me if a dark elf DK fire staff is still a viable option? I haven't played in about 3 years. I could start from scratch or respect my elf DK if another route is better, although my gear leans fire build.
I had a gander as I kinda fancy trying another MMORPG, the only one that ever grabbed me was UO. WOW and FF14 were pretty average I thought. But to be honest I enjoyed talking to people on UO and WOW and without a keyboard on PS4 it kinda seems a bit pointless playing an MMO. I know voice chat is a thing but I don’t always like to do that.
So how does crafting work in this game? I tried to make some armor and K had enough iron ingots but for some reason it wouldn't let me make the piece I wanted.
Other then that I am still enjoying the game. Got to a whopping level 6!!! Lol. Just taking my time exploring. Right now I am on some island near Skyrim wrapping up quests there.

Yeah it's Bleakrock and I agree it does feel alot like Skyrim. I am excited to check out Morrowind since that was the game that introduced me to the ES series but I will have to get the expansion for that first.

Ok, I really cannot figure out this crafting thing. I want to do Blacksmithing, I am level 8 right now on Bleakrock Isle I have 40 Iron Ingots in my bank yet I can't craft a pair of boots, WTF??? The craft button is greyed out even in the menu. What am I missing???

Yep that was it I was confused cause the spot said go to the crown store and I thought that was some sort of optional material that you could buy from the crown store.

I have only reached the second area so I have a bit to go on crafting and such but now that I have figured it out, I am enjoying so far but then again I have always enjoyed crafting in MMOs.

I redownloaded the base game to see if I want to pre-order the new dlc plus everything else. It has been at least 3 years since I played. I don't remember a thing. I took my lvl 50 dunmer mag dk and walked outside the town to kill a few mobs. I found out that every mob scales to me now. I really don't like that. It ruins the role playing for me. In rpgs I like going back to old areas and laying waste to everything in sight. I would laugh at remembering how tough the area used to be. Now they all stay the same lvl?!? Disappointing. I think I'll skip the pre-order. The new mount did look cool though.
@Elodin Yeah in order to make the game more solo friendly they made it so now everything scales to your level. I kinda like it but can see your point as well especially if you want to go farming for crafting mats.

@Tasuki don't you think it takes away the feeling of getting stronger?
I mostly solo'd years ago, and was planning to again, but losing the feeling of progression dosent seem to help the solo aspect for me. I do see the advantage of now being able to play with anyone, but that never affected me.
I'm on the fence with this game now. I have a short time limit too as if I'm jumping back in I'll be all in and get the pre-order with the mount. I have 2 days. Anyone care to convince me to jump in?
@Elodin Not really. For me it always bugged me more when I go through a low level area and get harassed by low level enemies especially when you try to run from them and then you end up with half the zone that you have no choice but to kill them. Even then when you kill them you get nothing and for me it just feels like a waste of time. Very rarely though do I go back to a low level zone in say WoW unless I am farming for crafting mats. I don't know yet if ESO had different level of crafting materials like WoW but even if it did as I said I get more annoyed of having to deal with enemies that don't give you XP. But I could see where you are coming from

@Elodin I don't if I can convince you since I never played ESO until now so I can't say if it's better now. However it is free so you have nothing to lose but time and hard drive space, so why not try it again?
As for dungeons of course you need a group for them they aren't really designed to be soloed kind of defeats the purpose of them.
