@colonelkilgore absolutely! Using the axe really just doesn’t get old. I for one also really enjoyed the implementation of some metroidvania design elements in 2018 as well. I’m hoping they expand on that.

@jdv95 😄 I’m expecting 9’s and 10’s across the board again 😄 Though this is one of those games I’ll be playing regardless of critical reception, I’m hoping for a good payoff for the developers!

I decided not to read or watch any reviews (even though some are by people I enjoy content from) but the universal praise definitely gets me even more excited to play it next week
Just read the Push Square review and I have to say, I’m regretting not pre-ordering now! 😅
It’s amazing that the game seems to be surpassing expectations. Wow. And the warnings about so many potential spoilers out there makes me nervous not to play it quickly. Dang it, Sony! I had convinced myself to wait!

Thankfully PushSquare is the only gaming site I generally frequent but even still, I think I’m going dark for a bit. Life’s too short to not enjoy these moments to the fullest. Happy gaming everyone! See ya on the other side.
Really impressive reviews. I didn’t get in with the first one so unlikely to play this any time soon, but it seems like the real deal - an Uncharted 2 moment, where as Horizon 2 seemed like a bit of a let down.
@Th3solution Yeah, that's pretty much why I didn't buy a Switch until this Summer. I knew I wouldn't really have time to play it much, but it was the beginning of my rough patch with gaming and I figured that could give me a good jolt with jumping in to a whole new ecosystem. It might have worked too if I was willing to give up on PlayStation and the style of games that make up a large portion of 1st and 3rd party gaming now, but that's not happening.
Back on topic, I'm playing Mass Effect 3 right now. There's a chance I won't be done with that in time, and I'm not going to rush through it either as the Mass Effect series is more important to me than God of War (and I never finished 3 back in the day). I haven't decided if I will stop playing that and then pick up where I left off after Ragnarok or if I will just wait until I'm done. It will likely depend on how close to the end of the game I am next Wednesday. God of War Ragnarok is my next game regardless.
Yeah, I'm hoping his character is much more tolerable for me after that reveal, which somehow went right over my head as I was surprised to read that recently in an article. Unless it was an after credits scene or something as, while I thought the game itself was actually good, I obviously had tuned out of the story somewhat.
That is actually a really good question and one I'm not sure I have a clear answer for. I guess it partially depends on the length. If it's a really long game, it has to have a good story or otherwise I won't want to spend dozens of hours playing it. If it's a shorter game, then it can get by as long as it's fun. Even though I hated the second half of the story for The Last of Us Part II, I finished and still enjoyed the game otherwise because it had great gameplay. Still, I guess in the end I would probably still lean slightly towards story because of games you listed, and that being a staple of the PlayStation brand.
God of War did for me at one time back with the original series when I had the absolute pleasure of finally getting to play the original trilogy via the God of War Collection on the PS3. I do hope Ragnarok ends up being able to sit right next to those fantastic experiences.
@Th3solution I'm defo gameplay over story. I'll happily play a game with a rubbish story if the gameplay is killer, but struggle if it is the other way round.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

I ordered the standard edition the other night and also hoping it gets delivered soon, or at least on the day. I’ve not got any time off work but it’ll be demanding my attention.
@render nice dude, I saw that you were umming-and-ahhing on it the other day… I think you made the right decision (even if you have to go hungry for the week 😅).
