Topic: Japanese or Western Games?

Japanese developers are better if you ask me. The focus in Japanese games is gameplay and lasting appeal. Nintendo, Capcom, Square Enix, From Software, Bandai Namco... those are off the top of my head.

They have consistent quality releases, ensure their games are enjoyable and polished before anything else, and they try to avoid crunch as much as possible.

I can count the number of full-priced Western AAA games I buy in a generation on one hand, and could probably count the total number of Western AAA releases I play each generation on two hands. I just really don't get on with modern AAA titles, and the few times I've been excited for one in recent memory (Fallout 4, Cyberpunk 2077), the result has been crushing disappointment.

I buy consoles for Japanese games, and when I'm excited for a big new release in a Japanese-developed series, I'm very rarely disappointed.

Moreover, I find that Japanese releases usually have a greater diversity of art-styles, mostly lack the lootboxes and other obscene crap that litters a lot of big AAA releases from Western pubs, and rarely launch broken.

The conversation becomes a lot more complicated when you factor in the Western indie scene, which is bustling with creativity and cool new ideas.

But, still, Japanese gaming makes up probably 70%+ of my gaming diet.

@Akurusu
I prefer mostly games by Japanese developers such as Nintendo, Konami, SquareEnix, Level-5, Bandai Namco, Nippon Columbia, D3 Publisher, Hudson Soft, etc.
Japanese games have better diversity in genre and graphic style.
Japanese developers know how to design cute characters and cartoonish environments.

I rarely like Western games if not cartoonish enough, i will not even interested. Most of Western games i found are too realistic with very unappealing looking.
But there are some Western games i like and it must be cartoonish graphic.
The Western games i like such as The Sims, My Sims, Portal Knights, Earthlock, Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, LEGO CITY Undercover, etc.

It’s a bit of a non-question. Western devs make good and bad games. Japanese devs make good and bad games. If you focus on the good games no matter where they come from then you’re in for a good time.
