this has been known for a couple weeks now, but it is disheartening. Still, I was planning to upgrade the drive after a few months anyway.

Hmmm. Just put a tb in my ps3 in may. Makes me wonder if I should splurge and get another one or so for the ps4.

Wait. Didn't catch that. It takes more for the disc than it does for the install?!?

@ztpayne7 It looks that way.
My guesses:
-PS4 install the complete game into the hard drive.
-The Disc includes the first day patch.
-Sony addded a lot of antipiracy data inside the disc.
Or maybe they just added more in game data.

what the heck? Is this going to be standard for PS4? Can someone explain to me why we are installing the entire game to our HDD?

Interesting indeed now I get it.
The PS4 installs all the data on the HDD while playing it and then deletes when you turn it off
Kinda sounds a bit like what Xbox One DRM thing where you install the whole thing only that in this case is temporal.
So you can't completly fill the hard drive if you are planning to play huge retail games like this one.

@ztpayne7 so yeah this is totally better.

This appears to be a trend, as Knack also requires a 37GB install.

@blurays yup, it looks like the PS4 games were made to run through hardware without using completly the disc.
To properly be able to play all the PS4 games it would be recommended to at least reserve 80GB and maybe even more depending how much games keep expanding on size. Nuaghty Dog may require more than 100 knowing their standard project size.
Open World games on PS4 will always be the ones with an average 70-80.GB
Basicaly you guys only able to use 320GB of the PS4 hard drive without considering the space that is reserved for the OS that it may be atleast another 50GB(After all it was 40GB on my 320 PS3) that will leave you with 270GB free to use on the PS4.
If you guys plan to go digital, retail or both I suggest grabbing 1TB HDD on Black Friday.
