In a determined effort to break into the genre, and eventually return to Bloodborne, I’ve been playing LoP this morning. I’ve pushed through into a little square where I’m doing a little grinding since I really don’t want to lose the fun aspect and actually finish the damn thing. Should keep me more than occupied until Persona 3.
Also, it is probably one of the prettiest games I’ve seen in awhile, in a really bleak dystopian kind of way.
Wish me luck 👍

@AgentCooper This game hooked me in completely. I got the Platinum a couple of weeks ago, something I thought I would never get whenI first started the game. I did NG+ twice, so did 3 complete run throughs and loved it the same each time. Hope you enjoy it and get as much gratification from it that I did
Can't think of anything good to put here just yet, watch this space...
@AgentCooper Good luck and it is a great genre with a wide selection of styles. I have heard that Lies of P is difficult (I've yet to play it) so do presevere.
I'm looking forward to Rise of the Ronin, because apparently it will have difficulty options, probably Insane and Really Insane.
@colonelkilgore Your avatar reminds me of the Robert De Niro GIF, "You, you, you're good you".
@colonelkilgore Yeah, ta bud. It was Death’s Door that got me thinking I might stand a chance in this space and then Limmy (Scottish comedian) has been playing Dark Souls II and I just thought let’s fire up Lies of P.
@Throb An excellent endorsement, I’m glad you had such a good time with it. I’m playing through gp currently but may pick it up, if it grabs me enough, for ps5 on disc.
@CaptD Nice one mate, enjoying it so far though I haven’t really come up against anything too gnarly. I’m tempted by Rise of the Ronin, I recently picked up a copy of Nioh so if I like it enough might pull the trigger on the former.

Despite my gaming schedule being glacial at the moment I found an hour to pop on this morning and finally beat the parade master puppet. Getting my head round the perfect parry system has been integral as I was banging my head against the wall but once I clicked with the timing he was down in no time.

@AgentCooper Congrats! As you said, it’s integral to progressing in the game. You’re off to the races now! Something else too, throwables are very powerful in this game and got me out of a tight spot many times. Also, they scale with builds. I focused on motivity and shot puts not only did a ton of damage, but were very effective at staggering enemies but they’re all very effective in their own right. There is a merchant you’ll come across eventually who has a never ending supply of a variety of throwables so you can stock up!

@Jimmer-jammer Aw thanks friend, feels good to make some progress, slight as it is. Funnily enough I was relying on throwables initially to no avail. Appreciate the advice. I take it you have completed the game?

LoP is a class act, absolutely my favorite 3D non-FromSoftware Souls-like (2D would be Salt & Sanctuary)
Lies seems to play like a 'FromSoft Greatest Hits', utilising various facets from their entire portfolio, whilst still carving an identity of its own.
The story is really cool as well... and the end-credits scene (!)
I had a great time with it, got 100% achievements (steam deck) and enjoyed the challenge. My expectations were very low and it surpassed them massively. My #2 2023 GOTY (Baldurs of course #1 )
