It looks fun but I'm going to wait for a price drop. I like fighting games but I don't love them. I never play them online because I don't stand a chance as a causal fighting game fan. I just can't justify paying full price only to play the story mode and maybe Tower Mode.
I'm going to wait for the inevitable Komplete Kollection. I definetely want to try this out, but I can wait to get the whole package at a more inviting price...

The online set-up's actually really cool. As in previous MK games, you join lobbies, where you can challenge people, etc. If you have friends playing, it's quite neat to create your own room, and play with them. But nah, I get what you're saying. If you're not planning to invest an enormous amount of time multiplayer, it's best to wait for the price to drop.
King of the hill is my favorite mode, you get a chance to watch the king before you take him on, try and find a pattern or a weakness to exploit. And then when you become King, everyone does the same to you.

I'll take the Vita to the grave with me, even if Sony won't.
yeah I also love King of the Hill.
Im getting better day by day, just beat the living crap out of a few friends yesterday until they had studied me enough and returned the favor! Lovin' it!
It has a pretty steep learning curve to get into but once you get the hang of it it really opens up!

So after a while of playing now and getting quite good with my fav. character Kano, I already had a handful of online matches that were going from "awesome I beat the crap out of you" anywhere to "wut? dead!". I've found characters like Sub Zero and especially Liu Kang (whom I hate with a passion since the very first MK) to be almost unbeatable obstacles for my Kano. I prefer the Commando variant and with this kounters and close range attacks and grapples I can beat anyone to a pulp once I'm in range. But there's the problem. Liu Kang players, douchebags through and through I suppose, keep spamming me with high/low fireballs and Flying Kicks. Now as Kano my only means of "making ground up real fast" is his cannon ball attack but since he is whirling himself into the fray I'm always endangering myself, often being beaten by a Flying Kick or Fireball coming my way. It's a pain in the ass really. And Sub Zero just puts his damn Ice-Clone everywhere and I am toast. So my questions are: What are your experiences, is it naive to think that every char should be balanced against every other and theoretically be able to beat them or are there REALLY characters that are better than others hands down? I noticed though, that I can do as much damage with a 3-hit Kano-Kombo than Liu Kang does with 5 hits. But then again, I need to get close to do that and Liu Kangs Kombos are easier, more fluent and faster than Kanos... Argh! Any ideas?

I remember playing MK3 in a bowling alley with some friends near my apartment after work. I wont claim I was tournament caliber, but I held my own and felt I did pretty good.
Now? I am so bad it is embarrassing. So bad that I feel I need to practice a month before I am even fit to go online. So bad I ran out of "skips" in story mode on (I think) Kotal Khan. Where did those reflexes go
The game is great. Havent got to sit down and play with friends yet, must... practice...
Trying Erron Black a bit, and mostly all the characters I didn't get to play as in Story Mode before I try and pick a main or 3. I'm leaning towards Dvoarah (sp), Sonya, and Jax at the moment, but will wait til I try the others.
On the topic of MK X, and MK in general, any of you ever had a character that you instantly adapted to? I think it will be Dvorah for me, I just flat out destroyed her opponents in story mode.
So I guess this game is region locked for online? @Scollurio has sent me 3 invites and I can't ever accept any of them. I tried looking it up and it seemed like it was confirmed region locked but some others said it's not.
Finally rented this game from Gamefly and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by it. It's nice to be able to pick up and play this game without having played an MK game in years. I also love all the different modes and styles each character has which adds alot of variety. I am particularly fond of the Test your Luck mode.

A little late to the party, but I'm really enjoying MKXL! The story is not bad, but could be a lot better, especially compared to MK9. I loved the new characters, but since I don't play fighting games since MK3 on Snes, I'm taking my time to get to know each one, haha. So far, I've learned to use Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Kitana and Liu Kang - btw, why is Liu Kang on VS a good guy? He should be a revenant or something like that. Also didn't understand why they didn't include every character from VS in the story... Kinda wish they would tell more about some, lika Ermac.
Awesome fighting mechanics, though! The only real bad thing that makes me wanna throw the controller on the screen is that Test Your Mighty thing, who was the dumb person to think that it was a good idea to try and break your wrist and controller by quickly pressing buttons and dying in frustration 1026482x? This person should burn in Netherrealm! ;P
