@Th3solution I might be mistaken, but has that not already been done in an earlier CoD game? I've been a bit hot and cold with fps games this gen and usually prefer stuff like the Far Cry games, Fallout 4, The Outer Worlds, Deus Ex than straight up fps games. I really enjoyed the first Wolfenstein game as that had a really good story and a strong cast of characters but was not able to get into the second game.

@JohnnyShoulder Yes, I only know because I played the demo back when I had more free time and fewer games. It was COD: World at War last generation, PS3 etc. The demo had a section fighting on the tropical islands of the Pacific, Iwo Jima or Okinawa I think but I might be misremembering. But World at War had not only a Pacific storyline, but also a second playable storyline on the European front as well. So I’m not sure why the older game had both areas represented, but this newer one just has half of the war represented. I feel like games fighting the Nazis are way too common and the Pacific island settings are more or less forgotten in the WW2 based games. Perhaps the subject is a little too uncomfortable to tackle with the large number of Japanese players and developers in the gaming industry. Probably no one wants to touch the inevitable direction the game would take to the nuclear bombing.

World at War was great because you could raise the Hammer and Sickle above the Reichstag. Not many games actually let you play as Mother Russia, despite the fact they were rather crucial to the war effort. Although my great granddad used to say the Russians sh*t in their helmets. That’s the extent of his war stories and honestly, I’m ok with that.

Anyone know why we only have the 1 ps plus game announced so far?

@Th3solution Maybe that is why it is not in the latest game, they already done it in a previous game. I mean there could be loads of different reasons why it was not included, but i don't really care enough about to look into it really. There is nothing that can be done about it now, i rather just play the game and hopefully enjoy it for what is, rather than be concerned about what is not in the game or what could have been.

@JohnnyShoulder C’mon now ... don’t be logical and make sense about this! This is the internet — we over-react, that’s what we do. 😜 I want to gripe about something that is a moot point and completely unchangeable! Especially if it is something that I have yet to experience and I want to prejudge it based on my own uninformed and ignorant bias!
Cyberpunk in first person?! Bah, it’ll be horrible! The Last of Us 2 political propaganda?! The game is ruined! Ghost of Tsushima?! It’s clearly an Assassin’s Creed knockoff and it’s going to be terrible! The PS5?! It’s an overpriced piece of garbage and doesn’t have enough teraflops!

@RogerRoger I will Rog, you have to bear with me though. My plan is to beat a few last minute Trophies on PS Now (it runs out in a day or 2) and then reorganise my hdd. Its starting to freeze a bit. Hopefully can get a game Tuesday next week or something.

@RogerRoger @themcnoisy If you all are looking for someone to absorb a few laser blasts and mainly just get in the way, then I’d be delighted to oblige. I thoroughly stunk at the Battlefront I and at most FPS in general, but your description of the co-op and MP modes sounds fun nonetheless. The problem of A) the large time zone difference over here, B) my general lack of discretionary time for gaming and unpredictable schedule lately, and C) hit-or-miss internet service, means that I may not be able to coordinate with you but maybe I can try. If you let me know a time window I’ll see. I’d jump at the chance to be schooled by a Battlefront master.

And now you mention... KAL has been a little AWOL lately. I hope he’s okay.

After all these years I finally succumbed and got PlayStation Plus seeing as it was on sale. Quite looking forward to playing Battlefront II and even trying CoD.

@RogerRoger Hard to say, but my weekday game time (if it even happens at all) starts around Midnight to 1:00 AM England time. Weekends is more consistent, where I usually am available from around noon to 6:00 PM your time, barring my occasional travel.
But you all just do your thing and message me in some form or post on the forums when it works for the UK bunch and I’ll see if the timing works out on my end. If it doesn’t happen this week then perhaps at some point it will. It’s probably best if I acquaint myself to the game first anyways.
But I agree it would be awesome to cooperatively take down the Empire! (or the Rebellion, depending on the mood) 😄

Managed to get Battlefront 2 downloaded overnight, that is one huge file!

Oh man, that does sound like a nightmare! I hope the PS5 sees an end to that sort of thing.

@LieutenantFatman It sure will. The SSD and that the console is sort of built around it will mean that all that kind of stuff will be super speedy!

I had a few games on co-op this evening with a couple of friends on Battlefront 2, very entertaining. The AI is quite challenging.

But in response to your original query, I think the inclusion of NBA2K is brilliant. I don’t think that they offer sports games very often — mostly because the sell really well right up until the season ends. They offered MLB The Show a few months ago, and I think an NBA game a couple years ago and a PES game years back too, but I think it’s not likely to be more than once or twice a year. So it’s certainly not any overkill of the genre.

Personally I don’t like Sports games and basically never buy them. I’ve been openly critical of their “reskin and sell again at full price one year later” business practices. ...But, I am glad they included a sports game in this month’s offerings. That means I get to try one risk free. I think that’s the whole point of PS Plus — exposing you to games you likely wouldn’t buy or are on the fence about.

Giving out NBA2K20 right now makes perfect sense too in the midst of the delayed season and postponed playoffs due to COVID — The game is an older title, yet it’s still highly relevant this late in the year, when it would be only an afterthought and an NBA champion would have long since been crowned in an normal July. As someone new to the game, I feel like it’s a brand new game with the NBA season part II about to start at the end of July.

Thrilled about Erica too. I’m a big fan of the short narrative choice games to use as good breaks between the big epic AAA games.

I respect your opinion. I may have come across as terse but that was not my intention. And your perspective is something I will take to heart. Taking a break from AAA games is a good idea. I was hoping more under rated titles. But as I said in the original post it's my opinion.
