(Played Doom lightly and on PC. Won't pick it)

@themcnoisy: I know Doom started on PC and that's where I first played it too. However where do you draw the line? Would Mass Effect count in this? That started off as an Xbox Exclusive. What about some of the indie games that started off on PC that have now been brought to consoles? I don't know if any of these games have been nominated but I guess that people have nominated games because they are available on a PS system and are nominating that 'version' - even if it is basically identical. Doom has obviously been ported to utilise the PS controller and I guess that could separate it from the PC original version even though in essence its the 'same' game. I assume (rightly or wrongly) that whoever nominated it was nominating it because it was one of their favourite games they played on a PS

@BAMozzy: there was a line of sorts in the opening comment.

"Games remastered from a previous generation don't count (sonic cd / 1942 / street fighter 2 etc) but games from a previous generation with enough extra content to arguably be a new release will."

Doom was released a few years before the ps1 released.

@themcnoisy: In that case it should probably have been removed from the draw. You could 'void' this particular vote and put 'Viewtiful Joe' back in the pot. I think (although I haven't played it on PS) Doom is the same game, same levels, enemies, experience, etc as the original PC version and certainly don't think its a remaster or with enough 'new' content to count.

@BAMozzy: I will leave it, a few people have already cast votes. Viewtiful Joe was great though, henchin a gogo baby. (that's the phrase he uses in the game)

@themcnoisy: @BAMozzy: I will say that when I chose my games I either picked games that were PS exclusives or were originally PS games then ported over to other systems (like GTA 3 for example). Some people may have just missed that part of the rules and more then likely just nominated games that they played on the PS even though it was just a port.

I will say that my first encounter with Doom was on the SNES due to the fact I didn't have a PC at the time nor knew anyone that did. I honestly didn't play the PC version till many many years later. Still I knew that it originated on PC still when I judge Doom it's always tell SNES version since that's the one I played the most.
