I found this while browsing today. Apparently it appeared on Codemasters Twitter with the tag #IfInDoubt.
Theres not really much else to go about it, but Im hoping for a proper return to series by Codemasters. Considering the Ps2 had a lot of quality rally titles (Evolution's WRC series being a personal fave) the current generation has been noticeably barren on the rally game front. What do you guys think? A proper Colin Mcrae of the ye ol' days of rallying heaven on Ps4?
UPDATE: Theres some comments on Gamespot hinting at it being for a CM2.0 port for the iOS platform. Nothing confirmed yet tho
Colin McRae... iOs? I think at this point it's safe to assume that codemasters has gone casual for good...
Yeah I was fearing the worst on this. When I first seen the image I genuinly thought Codemasters were finally gonna return to thier roots and start doing good games again but alas, it wasn't to be. I suppose I should've took notice of the rumblings the day before the announcement of an iOS remastered CM2.0 Its a shame thats what the announcement turned out to be
Seriously there's no one making any good rally games anymore, those WRC guys seem to lack the funds to go bigger but they seem to be on the right track so far. But otherwise rally is dead...

Tell me about it. Those WRC guys do a decent job n GT5's rally mode aint half bad, but theres just been no genuinely great rally games this entire generation! I suppose thats what we get for being so spoilt last gen. We had Evolutions superb WRC series n Codemasters Colin Mcrae series constantly duking it out all generation, plus there was also the likes of Richard Burns rally (for the real hardcore rally fans lol) n the suprisingly great Vrally3 (Vrally2 on Dreamcast was soooo good) plus Rally Fusion for if you wanted a bit less simulation. Then again one of my faves last generation when it comes to rally was a more arcade orientated affair, SHOX by EABig was as good as Sega Rally used to be for me, n thats coming from a Sega fanboy Hell thats not even covering all the rally games either last gen, thats just the ones I remember the fondest lol I doubt we'll ever have a generation like that again for rally fans
The first 4 games were really, really exceptional games. In fact, they were the most renowned Rally games at the time. I remember playing the first one in 1998, and it completely blew me away. This was really even better than SEGA Rally!
I agree to everything you guys just said. I want to bring PROJECT CARS on the table here. It's in MASS-development for a while now and I am a supporter ever since, that means I have weekly access to the latest builds and the community working on it. So far this game comes around as the "mother of all serious racing games". It's said to feature many different types of racing, one of them being RALLY. So, I am curious how it will play out in the end, it should release 2014 on every platform under the sun, surely on PS3 and PS4.
Things that should be in the final game: - Extensive Career Mode - Coop Racing (co-driver) - Teams and Clubs online - Tournaments, Events - 60+ cars on track at once - Touring cars, open wheelers, rallye, kart, possibly bikes too, prototype cars - Extensive livery editor and possibility to import photoshop files - realtime or lapstime weathereffects day/night cycle - already in the pre-alpha 30+ tracks, most of them real life ones - full pit crews - extensive damage model, tire wear, fuel consumption, fuel strategy - "accidents" like overheating engines, flat tires, etc...
So far those people show the most ambition I've ever seen in a racing game! They work closely with all their supporters (which are basicly testers as they play the weekly builds) and have a really strong community. The game is in Pre-Alpha state right now and already looks better (on highest settings) than any racing game I have seen so far, ever.
Can't wait for that one and hope that all the different types of racing in the game are implemented in the same high standard as the others, thus creating THE fix for every sim-racing fan, no matter if you love aussie touring cars (like I do, and yes they're confirmed already) open wheel formular cars from now and then (renault turbo anyone, ahahaha) or karts in various setups!
