... Pulling a "molyneux" = overpromising, underdelivering. Prime example: Destiny.
Let's speculate a bit which upcoming games might be up to fall into that category.
I personally fear that "The Order "is a solid candidate for it, also is The Crew and unfortunately I think the same is true for "The Division" - I personally feel that Ubisoft has a pretty bad record concerning this phenomenom. Oh yes, and basicly everything EA does. Opinions?

Top 5 Indies I'd recommend you try: #1 Lovecraft's Untold Stories, #2 Moonlighter, #3 Hotline Miami, #4 Inside, #5 Into the Breach.
As it stands, I agree with the Order but saying that, the studio has not really promised anything yet. All we know is that is a great looking steam punk game. I wouldn't say it is a Molyneux.... yet.
I think the new Assassins Creed games might underwhelm. Of course I might be wrong, but I think people are getting burnt out on that series, and I don't see co-op changing that. They promise a lot, but it's going to be the same cookie-cutter gameplay elements made by multiple studios and then thrown together with a bunch of window dressing.
I have to disagree with the division, I think it will be pretty amazing. I'm inclined to agree with the order and the crew, I think the order will be a nice experience regardless of any possible gameplay shortcummings it may end up with. Can't really think of anything. Assassins Creed is trash anyway. We've seen fun bits and some gorgeous bits from Farcry 4, I just hope it doesn't follow 3 and other ubi games too much, like take down all these bases collect all this trash everywhere, tons of rubbish side missions to fill it out.
I think this is rather a matter of opinion. I dont see how Destiny would fall in this category. I think honestly console gamers are giving Destiny a bad rap. They excepted another Halo clone but got an MMO instead, something that console gamers do not know much off. Because of that they are just being too hard on Destiny.
Same goes with Drive Club I think people are expecting a Forza and instead are getting a PGR instead.
Pretty much people are assuming too much stuff and well we all know what happens when you assume things.

Well Destiny is scrambled up far beyond "its not a halo clone and I expected it to be one" - its all over the internet, if you watch the old Vidocs and listen to the interviews, things have been severely cut out of the game. Whole story, player trading, proximity chat, faction wars, all things that have been teased together with a whole lot of locations, so I think Destiny truly IS the prime example. I know, if you're not deeply invested into Destiny - like I am because I love the world they crafted - you might stumble over these things. But if you look closely the whole world in Destiny shows signs of cut content. Even the leaked DLC content shows missions around level range 8 and 10, makes no sense for an expansion really, they are leftovers from a cut, totally different story... but anyways...
Drive Club for me was never going to be Forza, not even Horizon, what makes it underdeliver for me is the subjective reception of the game. It launches late, in an unstable state and after all is said and done, there's absolutely nothing special about it, social (which was predictable really) doesnt do anything for the game either. Thats just my point of view, no offense.
You're right about the assuming thing though. Assumptions never help. Brace for hard facts, attune your expectations accordingly, and sadly, the hard facts are something like: It's all about the money, companies will provide the LEAST amount of content for the LEAST amount of work possible to make the MOST amount of money possible. Economics right in your face.

Evolve looks amazing to me but it seems just to be a one trick pony as a multiplayer, I really wanna play as a Goliath and smash the place to peices but I don't know anything else about the game really, I'll almost definitely buy it unless it just ends up being total trash, however I'm nowhere near convinced that it deserves a full price.
