Yoyo Pushsquarers, Im getting both of these over the Chrimbo period.
Which one is more fun?

@themcnoisy It really depends on what you are looking for in a Racer. GT Sport looks to have the best Online experience - especially if you want to compete in races where collisions etc are seriously frowned upon. If you want more options - particularly in tracks and dynamic weather options, then PC2 has the edge. Its difficult to compare 'career' mode if you are looking for 'Single' player options as I don't know if GTS has been updated yet. Visually, you have to give GTS the edge - especially on Pro. Polyphony certainly put a lot of work on the cars - maybe at the expense of the peripheral details but do you look at the trees when racing?
As for 'fun', both are more Sim and PC2 is 'difficult' to master. Its supposed to be built using the same software/engine etc that Professional drivers use in their Simulations. The weather is dynamic and varied too - not just 'visual' but actually affects the track and handling. If you go off on a wet track, mud and dirt is brought on to the track which affects handling too. As a track dries, so will the mud which also changes handling. GTSport doesn't have this and can only pick Time of Day. Dynamic weather and effects can be fun - racing in a blizzard for example, drifting around tracks etc.
GTSport though is 'incomplete' in my opinion - the fact they are adding in a Career mode after release is testament to this. It doesn't have the widest selection of tracks - reversing the direction doesn't exactly count as a 'new' or different track. It doesn't have too many real tracks either BUT who knows if Polyphony will add more tracks, cars etc in the future - whether these will be free or paid for DLC. Point is, GTSport could be a 'bigger' game than PC2 - have a more meaningful career mode and maybe more 'fun' in the long run. If you like Photos of Cars and gorgeous backdrops, GTsport is definitely the better too.
I don't know if GTS still has a beta or demo you can try - might be worth checking first. Maybe if you find one or both at a reasonable discounted price, then that may help - pick up the cheapest and if that doesn't fulfil what you are wanting so much, pick up the other when the price is right for you.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
@BAMozzy I would check a demo but im 99% sure gt sport is the pack in gane with the psvr for chrimbo. Thanks for the comment man, that sums up my feelings pretty much.
@get2sammyb thanks man, Im a big car campaign kind of gamer and hate online driving. Thats my biggest worry. But if gt sports holding your attention to play frequently, then it must be doing something right.
@Shellcore When does the campaign stuff drop, thats what Im most interested in. Sunday cup ftw.

@themcnoisy It sounds as though PC2 would be the best game for you (currently) if you are not into 'Online' racing. GTS is very much geared around online - at least until they add the career mode. It does have some SP challenges -from learning to press the accelerator to go forward (yes that basic), to using drafting to get a speed boost etc All things that eventually should help you become a better driver. Each challenge has 3 medals and depending on how well you do, will depend on which you get and these get progressively more difficult. GTS does penalise you for any contact with other cars and can limit your online racing if you are considered a 'bad' driver - even if others crash into you. Arcade mode can be played offline but none of your progression is counted - its as if Polyphony doesn't trust players that it can't track online to ensure no 'cheating'.
PC2 comes with a career mode, offline options and the option to set up races how you want, what weather, time of day, track etc. Its closer to a game like Forza Motorsport or the more tradition Gran Tourismo games. It has been 'criticised' for being too 'sim' and not very forgiving. Its unlikely that you can jump in and win race after race as staying on a track and being 'fast' takes time to master. Its helped by using a wheel because you get more 'feedback'. Its more 'Sim' than game though but you can still have a lot of fun.
Of course things could change with GTS adding in a Career mode. That may impact on the amount of 'offline' content and how much more you personally will get from the game. I too have no desire to race online. At most, I would only race with a few 'friends' for fun - certainly not interested in racing against 'randoms'. Therefore, out of the two, I would pick PC2 BUT that could change further down the line - depending on how much content, how big the career mode is etc that Polyphony add. I still think though that the dynamic weather and how these impact on the track adds more to PC2 than GTS and its 'time of day' option.

@seanobi thats pretty damning knowing how good you are at Driveclub. Im a tad worried now!
@BAMozzy thanks mate, I did a bit more digging and pc2 has loads of uk locations like your typical silverstone and brands hatch but then it adds in the like of Oulton park and knockheart (i think its that) in Scotland. Pretty crazy and right up my alley.
@Kyroki cheers mate, I look forward to that. Im going to try and get into a hardcore racer. Been a few years since Ive dedicated any time to getting good since forza 3 and PGR on xbox. So hopefully pc2 fills that void driving in the snow in Daytona!

@seanobi I finally got to play PC2. To say the default settings on controller are a catastophe is an understatent. I had the default settings set up with only assisted turning and braking off and at times I couldnt turn and it felt like I was skidding on straights every time with the slightest nudge creating a self induced chicane. Literally the supercar couldnt make 90 degree turns at low speeds which my wifes meriva would tear through and I was zig zagging everywhere out in the open. It was a total nonesense. This carried on as I was adjusting settings for 5 races until I found the right balance. I turned the controller steering input to 35 (default is 17) this made the most difference. The radiator of all things down from 10 (out of 10) to 7 to create better braking. One of the most major 'aids' I turned off completely (may have been traction control or abs cant remember which) and dropped the brake bias down on the front tyres by about 5%.
My new setup feels more like a Forza default setting now. Not perfect by any means but its nice to fight for a podium rather than with a side hoarding.
The descriptions of the variables dont always match the desired outcome it was pure trial and error.
Its also telling 99.5% of people started the first introduction race, 74% of people started a career and hardly anyone has finished the first 5 race season.
How the default settings have passed quality control I will never know.
After that madness Im quite happy with pc2, there are so many variables you can play with to create a perfect race. The graphics can look rough at times, sometimes worse than last gen and the menus arent very intuitive initially. Overall I would say avoid if you dont like tinkering with cars settings and the top tip is to use the settings/test track to try out different alterations. Its a thumbs up if you can persist with that.

@kyleforrester87 They are, you have to go into the menus. Ive browsed some reviews post trying it out and a number of them say its essential on a steering wheel unplayable with a contoller. Ive found the best balance to get around the track now (pure fluke btw) but previously I literally couldnt get around any corner without sliding, its difficult to explain but it was bad. Very bad. Unplayable in fact.

So I played GT Sport tonight and had it set up on the ps4 pro performance option(better frame rate). Its great. Comparing pc2 to GT Sport on a controller is night and day. If you dont have a steering wheel GT Sport is really the only choice.

Scrapes mode in GT Sport is brilliant! Does anyone use it?
Im loving GT Sport. Ive gilded all of the lessons and have pottered into both the campaign cups and track experience which are now on the hit list.
Whats the deal with the new campaign though, as it doesnt tally points from one race to the next or am I missing something?

@themcnoisy Yea, GT League is pretty barebones. Nothing tallys apart from the number of race wins. No points between races. It's arcade mode with three/four races grouped under a banner with some restrictions. That's it. Funny how some banners was all it took for people to do a complete 180 on this game. I got my last gold in the Missions over the weekend. Great fun!
@Shellcore man I just need to say your pictures are amazing!
Im really enjoying GT Sport. Its been too long since I played a good driving sim. Both the missions and lessons are great.
Thanks for the heads up on the campaign races. I thought I was doing something wrong.
