News is a bit slow/non-existant today on PushSquare lol I came across this today on Eurogamer. It details the Os RAM usage for the Ps4. Not only is the amount theorised by DF a lot bigger than expected, but considering the Os is built on the BSD kernel, Its baffling. Considering BSD/Linux are able to run on far less RAM it must mean the Ps4 is doing a hell of a lot in the background. Still, this is all theoretical at the moment with only assumptions from documents being discussed. Here is the full story from DF if anyone else fancies a read.

The thing is, the OS needs all that ram, because, as far as we know, the whole thing is always running the background, allowing for quick multitasking. The way I see it, 4GB of RAM dedicated purely to games is still a hell of a lot, and most games presently don't even utilize all of that memory yet.
