I think a few people on the site have picked this up so decided to make a thread so everyone can share their opinions, discoveries, builds and tragic deaths!
Personally, I love the references the devs have made to the Souls games and Bloodborne at the beginning of the game, great to see a dev wearing their inspiration on their sleeve for all to see Made me smile too!
It's definitely a love letter to Dark Souls with all of its references and similarities, but thankfully they've not laid it on too thickly.
For review I went with a pretty bog standard knight, and focused on swords n shields and heavy armour. I also had a bow and arrows in my other slot so I had a little bit of a ranged game as well as close quarters.
I'm not very good at this sort of game, and early on I was even struggling with just a couple of regular enemies, let alone some of the bosses! I got stuck trying to beat the troll just before you fight the alchemist boss. Took me longer than the boss itself!
@Quintumply: I'm just past the second boss, The Smile, opended up a couple of shortcuts after that before putting it down so I could finish the Old Hunters dlc for Bloodborne. I'll be jumping back into S&S now I've gone with the exact same build as you except I've been using lighter armour to accomadate a greatsword I found Ya I got wrecked by something called a Bronze Knight several times in a row near the start before I finally leveled up and beat him
Yeah the Bronze Knights are tough. I found the best thing to do is to try and land a parry and counter multiple times. It's pretty easy to tell when he's about to strike. Luckily they don't respawn
I'm about level 35, I've beaten 5-6 bosses, not sure how far through I am. I'm in the castle fighting a dragon, need to level a bit but I've got a fire resist ring which helps. I'm also running with a standard knight with a great sword.
Whilst the game clearly takes ideas etc from "SoulsBorne", I think it stands out on it's own and has it's own identity. It's one of the most enjoyable games I've played of recent, most likely due to the fantastic level design.
I hang my head in shame as I've never killed a bronze knight, I just roll past them and crack on with my day
I've just killed the untouched Inquisitor and now trying to find the Tree of Men! Glad to see others enjoying it!
@kyleforrester87: if you're running a knight, there is a shield which is 100 fire resistance in the area which helps too...unless you want to run two handed for it.
I AM SIEGMEYER OF CATARINA AND YOU SHALL FEEL MY WRATH!
So played a bit tonight, after getting lost for a bit, finally found my way to what I think is the third boss, the Mad Alchemist. He promptly went and wrecked me twice before I left it. Just getting up to him was hard enough, I loath those damn slime blob things!
