I've said to people in the past that given the time and attention Star Wars Battlefront could be the biggest IP of the generation. When you consider the global reach of Star Wars itself, coupled with the genre been as popular as it is the game will be a massive seller regardless but will we get a great game to begin with? If yes then I'm sorry to say that the game needs to wait till 2016. When you take into account that Lucasarts closed 2 years ago today with EA gaining the Star Wars liscence one month later. If we presume that EA wants the game out in time for The Force Awakens then it'll have been at the absolute most two and a half years of development time, which in modern day AAA development is lightning fast consider what needs to be done (concepts, R&D, programming, coding, optimisation, QA, playtesting, and server test etc) that's an awful lot. I sincerely hope that it doesn't become another Battlefield 4 revisited but sadly this is EA.
That is my biggest fears. I love Battlefront 1 and 2 and I am not a big FPS fan, but those two were two of my most played PS2 games. I am afraid that now they will just be another Battlefield game with a coat of Star Wars paint.

The thing is Dice appears to be fans of the Star Wars universe first and foremost.I am sure certain elements from BF will be in this but I also think they will and judging from the early images have, tried to remain faithful to the settings, weaponry and characters too. I do expect that it will have a similar feel to BF because its using the same engine and also the same development team. Two and half years is enough time if you have the engine and resources. I do hope it doesn't have the same launch issues s BF4 but again they have more experience now of next gen gaming, server demand etc. I also hope they take time to change the Hub, menu system and on screen notifications to move it away from BF.
They have experience of adding vehicles into a FPS game so its not that different from changing quad bikes into speeders. Same with weaponry - instead of pistols we now have blasters - be interesting to see ow they handle Light Sabres - if they do of course. The two and half years will be spent creating the right environments - Hoth, Endor and of course Tattoine for example but the battles I expect to be kind of similar to BF's 32 vs 32. I do hope they add a campaign too.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

It's going to be a huge deal with an outrageous amount of money put behind it. I do think it's going to be Battlefield with a Star Wars skin, but that sounds exciting to me, I've got to be honest. We're getting our first look soon, so hopefully it's good.

Honestly this what I think is going to happen but my feelings are the complete opposite being disappointed would be an under statement.
Hope they stick c3p0 in so you can mince around while everyone else is blowing stuff up. Actually having a r2 unit to protect could actually be a game mode. Lets be honest whatever it is its gonna be another chance to revisit an amazing universe and reskin or not its been a while.

Well as EA is involved I am of course worried.
Like some have mentioned before me, I'm afraid that it will turn out to be a reskinned Battlefield rather than a true Battlefront successor. On the other hand, I got plenty of games to play, I'm not holding my breath for anything the big publishers put out to be honest.

Generally speaking there is a few similarities anyway - 2 sides fighting against each other with a variety of weapons and potentially vehicles too. Weapons may fire lasers instead of bullets and player characters are a lot more diverse than just human soldiers. Vehicles tend not to be 'wheeled' either Whether or not Battlefront needs or has a class system (such as Assault, Engineer etc) could be debated but as long as the the environments, weapons and vehicles look and behave right what else do people want? I do hope they don't use the Battlefield HuD and on screen text although I do expect some similarities like a map and weapon/ammo count. Apart from the obvious differences (characters, weapons, environments, vehicles) what other differences do people want?
