Pretty good so far and the beta is quite generous with content the only problem I had is that I couldn't find where to change the controller layout for flying,it's probably something I've missed in the options so not that big a deal.
Tasuki I did read Sammy post and I think my issue is slightly different in that I haven't pre ordered the game at all but still got the email and extra code for a friend and yes I understand when/why topics get locked it's no problem at all for me,keep up the good work you do at push square 😁
I was only able to play a little bit yesterday and what I did play, it was fun. It's definitely smoother that its predecessor. @teknium_ If you go to settings, there is the control tab and in there are the invert flight controls, etc. The flying felt better though the controls were different than I am used to and to be fair, I did not like the flying in the SWBF. They have improved it for sure.
I like the class settings and I like that you can switch anytime you get killed. It adds a nice depth where you can start out sniping and end with charging in as a heavy as the objective changes. Plus the customizing of your star cards. I do like that you gain battle points during a match and can then "spend" them on a more powerful character like a hero or vehicle.
So far, there are some balance issues which I hope get addressed as it releases.
I've tried playing the beta 2 nights in a row now and it's just unplayable because of the lag I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but I don't think it's to do with my connection because I downloaded the 15GB in about 20 odd minutes. And every time I check my connection it's about 60mbs download speed and 5 upload so bit confused, I know it is just a beta but it's literally unplayable for me. Was really looking forward to playing too!
Tried again today and my connection is fine with stuff like Destiny and still constant lag... Probably EA's servers, is weird though as I've seen no one else complain about it so could be something to do with my Internet not sure.
Certainly there's more to this game then the previous one, my main concerns though are the loot boxes, like how do you get them (without making EA happy of course) thought you might get one for leveling up but it doesn't seem to be the case, if you have to pay with in game currency then that's going to make it a grind fest I fear. Also the it takes far too long to respawn in a match, I reckon about 10 seconds minimum which is far too long, games like Overwatch and Titanfall 2 take no more then 5 seconds so that needs to be sorted.
Never played the first game so can't compare but played for just over an hour tonight and really enjoyed it.Played a bit of everything and probably my least enjoyed mode is the space battles..but that's mainly because I can't get used to the controls and end up just flying into things lol.
There is a lot of content for just a beta,I'm pretty impressed.Knowing this game has a single player mode too I'm pretty tempted to add it to my Christmas/Birthday list.
Not sure what to think of this yet. Shooting seems a bit swimmy and I'm a bit overwhelmed by all of the currencies and crates and levelling meters. Need to play more to wrap my head around it all.
Remember when games just had one XP bar and one set of unlocks?
The game looks stunning but I prefer watching my nephew playing it than actually playing it myself. Kill, die, respawn...kill, die, respawn, I really dislike that whole multiplayer formula. I only downloaded it because it's Star Wars.
@ApostateMage I must admit, I do feel similar to you with regards to PvP BUT generally only with the TDM (or should that be T-D-ous ) type modes. To a much lesser degree, modes like Domination/King of the Hill, Search and Destroy etc are far more interesting - assuming you are teams that actually play the objective. If you are in a 'good' team, these modes can really be fun.
However, what I am really looking forward to the most are these new 'multi-stage' PvP modes we are seeing crop up. In its most basic form, back in the first (Dice) Battlefront, you had a mode where you had to try and capture 3 flags, then 2, then 1 as the map narrows. One team attacking and the other defending. Admittedly that wasn't all that 'exciting' as a 'mode' although it was quite fun as the battle intensified as the match progressed. Now this principal has been given more of a 'Narrative' and almost plays like a large scale Single Player mission but instead of AI enemies and allies, these are now human controlled. The same principal is involved in that you have a 'large' area to start that narrows with each 'stage' of the fight and you are either attacking or defending objectives. The Star Wars Beta has two of these - one in Space and one on Naboo. In the final release, they could have ones that combine both the space battle and 'on foot' stages maybe have to attack/defend a Starfighter until its shields are disabled, then after landing inside, have to attack/defend the Control Room (to steal some plans and set a self destruct?? maybe?) then fight back to a hangar to escape. If you are an attacker and win, you see a cut scene of the ships flying away as the Stardestroyer blows up, if the 'Defenders' win, a different cut-scene but the point is it makes MP a lot more 'exciting' than just running around shooting people until the score/time limit is reached - at least I think so.

@BAMozzy - sounds like you're talking about the turning point mode, which was one of the original battlefront's better modes. that's not in battlefront 2. looks like it's launching with only one large 20v20 mode - galactic assault. the original had walker assault, supremacy and turning point, so that's a huge step back imo. there's one aerial mode, a heroes vs villians mode, and only three traditional mp modes. it might have more locations, but less variation in modes you can play in them...
i thought the beta was pretty rubbish to be honest.. it's got so many problems, i'm not going to bother, 'cause it won't be improved by november. mixing meaningful progression with loot crates and microtransactions is never going to end well..
@leucocyte I was referring to the Galactic Assault mode - not modes in the original Battlefront. In this mode you have various stages to a match and have two distinct sides - attacking and defending. The Aerial assault mode is similar - in that it has multiple stages to it - rather than just shooting enemies and who ever reaches the score limit first or has the most kills at the time limit wins.
I really don't know how many modes will be in the game at launch, how many maps or whether, like Battlefield, we will see the number of modes grow with new DLC but I know the Beta only has a selection of modes/maps on offer at the moment. CoDs beta too only had a few maps/modes and not the entire MP on offer in its Beta.
It also appears that the 'horde' mode is missing from the first 'Battlefront'. The Beta has improved over the time since we last saw it. For a start, it now has PS4 Pro support - not exactly 4k (1352p I believe in the majority of game-play but it is 'dynamic' and can reach 1440p) and actually performs much more stable too so they could refine it further by launch. I do think its deeper, more 'team' orientated and overall a big improvement over the last Battlefront in a lot of areas so I am happy to keep my pre-order in. I do have the previous game on both my XB1 and PS4 although I did get bored very quickly. I guess it can depend on after launch support - how often we get new maps and/or modes to keep it growing and feeling fresh. I am also looking forward to the campaign too. From my perspective, I do think this could well be the best FPS game out this Q4 and has more potential to be my FPS MP game of choice for the foreseeable future - mind you, its only up against CoD:WW2 - another game I have pre-ordered but mostly for the Zombies and campaign.
I really am not impressed by the Loot crate situation in Battlefront. Its skating very close to 'pay to win' and it may well end up being that way. I am totally against loot crates in any game and refuse to buy them but I am also not going to boycott any games that put these in specifically as I can see me not having many games to play. If these do end ruining the MP, I can still enjoy it offline against AI and still (hopefully) enjoy the Single Player. To me, it has more reason to buy than not currently but whether they do enough to keep me playing longer than they did with the previous BF or not, time will tell. I would also prefer to play this whilst its on the way up than when its on its last legs or deserted.

I enjoyed the smaller mp mode the most, but still came away bored. I am also frustrated by the loot crate rewards. One toon was beating Everyone badly. I saw why when he killed me, he had 2 gold cards in use. Now granted I'm sure he's a good player, but maybe put him with other players who have 2 gold cards or at least two cards. It did seem a tad too advantageous for him. I feel like if this was an MMO he would be a lvl 50 killing in a lvl 10 zone.
@Elodin its those Star Cards that I think could break the game - at least for the 'majority'. Those happy to drop big money on loot crates to get those 'gold' cards will no-doubt enjoy the 'game' because they have an advantage but unless EA do something, they could find the MP lacking. I really hope they offer the opportunity to play all MP modes with 'no' star card bonuses - essentially the opportunity to play the game where NO star card bonuses are 'active' and the 'same' modes where Star Cards are relevant.
If you want to play MP on a totally even playing field (well as even as it can be - not counting Input or internet lag etc) without those 'gold star card' users dominating and being impossible to kill, then you should have that option. Some Gold bonuses include dealing 100% more damage or taking NO damage. Boba Fett has a 100% damage reduction when using the thrusters - essentially boost into the air and be invincible. I bet if EA were to do this, the 'majority' of the player base would be in the 'no star card' lobbies!! I want to see if they change the way progression works or at least make some major adjustments on the Scrap currency. It costs around 900 scrap to buy and unlock a weapon and its 3 attachments - yet you only get 10/20 from a 'loot crate' which can take 5hrs or so to unlock - they either need to take a '0' off the cost (so instead of costing 600 scrap to buy the weapon, its now 60 meaning that it could take 3-6 loot crates just to unlock the gun) or add another '0' to the end of how much you receive (get 100-200 so the effect is just the same as above). It also doesn't matter if you do nothing in the whole game, you get exactly the same 'reward' as the person who comes top, gets the most kills, assists and most objectives too. Its not quite as bad as Destiny though were the worst player van get the 'best rewards and the top player gets 'nothing' - well apart from the same Crucible Rep as everyone else.
Like I said though, I am still happy to buy the game and at the very worst can still enjoy the MP - just against AI instead and still can enjoy the SP (hopefully!)

I really enjoyed it the longer I stayed playing it; especially with a group of friends. I had one amazing match when both teams were in the throne room on galactic assault trying to win and the player counter hit zero sending us into overtimer. I must've respawned 6 to 8 times battling for that room while it was being contested. Really fun! I felt as players were getting used to the game, the matches were getting better.
The flying has greatly improved over the first game. I hated flying in that one and this one feels much better, especially if you adjust your control options. Turning on Advanced Flight really was the trick.
The loot crate to progress system is awful. It will turn into a pay-to-win game. If it was more specific to what class you wanted to level up, that would at least be something so you could focus on a class or fighter. But this RNG in the slight hope you get what you need for the class you like is pathetic. I had mostly Heavy cards when I played Specialist and Assault most. I found it interesting that some cards dramatically altered your abilities. Such as, the Specialist's main ability gives you an EE-4 that refreshes with each kill.
One thing I did miss... the iconic red laser beams flashing all over the place. They are nowhere to be found in the beta with all projectile weapons and not one laser rifle. Disappointed about that. At first, I couldn't place why it felt "off" being Star Wars until a friend mentioned it.
