@themcnoisy yeah respect for ploughing through all three. Think I'm gonna have to have at least a years break between each one.

Plat #89 Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition
Managed to get to round 10 on endless mode for last trophy after a few failed attempts.
And yes, Romero would be proud.

@Sorteddan nice, how many hours do you reckon it took? I'm keeping an eye out to catch this one on sale (& Alienation).

@colonelkilgore
Hmm probably in the 20-30 hour region but I did more playthroughs than absolutely necessary.
1 co-op with a friend on normal, 1 collectables run on grim (hard), replayed a few stages to pick up all loot I had missed, 1 run on morbid (harder)!! Then a few hours on arcade/endless modes.
It could probably be done in 15-20 with a guide and skipping the run on normal (you have to do Grim to unlock Morbid though) and completing the whole campaign co-op is needed and I don't actually know if it can be done online - I did local.

To be honest, I think I had more fun with Alienation but more challenge with this.

@WCB @colonelkilgore @Keith_Zissou @Sorteddan @RogerRoger thanks team.

I've just started judgment, I'm going to plough through on my first run on normal and play it without looking at the trophies. Yakuza tends to have missable trophies but using a guide takes you out of the story. Then go back on easy, skipping when possible and mop up any I've missed.

Thrillho

@themcnoisy I never got anywhere near a Yakuza platinum until Y6, mainly as it was the first to not require a legend difficulty play through or for you to 100% the completion list.

Judgment and Like a Dragon are still in my backlog though!

@Thrillho I can see Judgment being a pain in the backside. We've got detective stuff on top of the usual Yakuza tropes. The story so far is great!

@Thrillho out of interest, have you ever tried the legend difficulty on any of them?

Thrillho

@colonelkilgore Nope. The games are so long that I don’t want to replay them, particularly if I have no chance of getting the platinum anyway.

I don’t think the Y6 cheat of reloading just before the final battle and changing the difficulty works on the old games either.

Thrillho

colonelkilgore

@Thrillho that's fair, was just wondering as to how difficult Legend mode actually is as I'll be starting these next year.

Thrillho

@colonelkilgore The difficulty is so variable between games as well though. One of the Kiwami games has a ridiculous system where bosses regenerate health unless you have a specific attack to stop them (which you don’t unlock until late on). I also remember some of the late Y3 bosses being really tricky.

Y6 was a walk in the park compared to older games, partly due to the “extreme” heat mode which lets you unleash really powerful attacks.

Thrillho

colonelkilgore

@Thrillho that does sound annoying... well I'll just have to see how it goes when I get around to them.

Platinum #58 - The Last of Us part 2 - as ‘I may have mentioned’ this week 😉… what a game! I’m gonna get into it a bit more on the TLoU2 thread but it’s the best game I’ve played this year… and I’ve played some good ones.

Trophy journey-wise, I was surprised by how much of the ng+ I had to play… maybe I missed quite a lot of scrap and pills during my first play-through but I ended up getting all of the way to Lev and Yara! An intense week, playing one of the most intense of games… I’ve promised a pal I’ll co-op with him on Operation Tango today (which I will) but after that I think I might take a few days break.

@WCB @RogerRoger yeah cheers guys. Not a difficult Platinum at all… far more achievable than the original but I actually feel shattered!

Th3solution

@colonelkilgore Having not played TLoU2 yet, I can only imagine, but you’re not the first who has finished it and reported to be emotionally spent afterward. The themes are just so exhausting and intense, aren’t they?

“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”

colonelkilgore

@Th3solution it is super intense, something that I generally like if I’m honest… I just think that cramming a first playthrough (always a long playthrough as your navigating new environments and systems etc for the first time) and a second playthrough (probably between 2/3’s or 3/4’s of a complete playthrough) into four days was… a lot.

That sort of ‘cram’ is usually my favourite way to game but I think in the case of The Last of Us part 2 it’s best to just chip away at it slowly.
