yeah I don't really have time for it with so many games in the backlog but if it's metal gear solid or silent hill I'm blatantly going to get sucked into it.
@Th3solution I was concerned I wasn't going to get the Miles Morales Platinum when I heard about the 100 combo trophy as I couldn't remember going above 30/40ish in the original. Maybe that one is bringing down the Platinum percentage slightly. My hopes raised when I played the Remaster first as I got 100 combo in that without realising. It still was pretty much the last trophy I got in MM.
Recently I got my 80th Platinum in Horizon Forbidden West. I deliberately squeezed a few other games in before so it be the 80th. I followed that up with Lego DC Super Villains. I thought it would be a nice relaxed easy one to knock off the backlog before moving on to my next big game. It was mostly that way and how I remembered Lego Marvel playing (my only other Lego game) but at times it was quite annoying with some of it's controls. The buttons could do many different things and I lost count of the times it did something other than I intended. I'm hoping the new Star Wars Lego game isn't as bad as I plan on getting it at some point.
I've started Final Fantasy VII Remake as my next main game. Not sure If I'll be going for the Platinum in that, I will have to see how much I like it and how I manage with the combat before thinking about a second Hard playthrough.
I've also been playing PGA Tour 2K21 on the side. I never really thought about going for the Platinum in that as it had some that looked too hard but while playing I've managed to do most of the ones I didn't think I would. However I now have one multiplayer trophy preventing me from getting it done. I got the matchmaking one done (on the second attempt, the first person quit on the second hole despite beating me and only needing to play 3 holes!) but I need to do an invite only round. None of my mates play it unfortunately so if anyone on here has it and can spare 10-15mins sometime message me, my username is at the bottom of my post.
@Th3solution Awesome work on your shiny MM platinum. I really enjoyed going back into the Spider-Man universe, or Spiderverse if you will. It’s a great game and about the right size to enjoy but don’t feel like you’ve had enough.
@BearsEatBeets Same for you and congrats on all those other trinkets besides. That’s a good old haul.
@johncalmc I’m struggling to play the games I’ve got but I’m intrigued to see what there is with regards to trophies in those games. Maybe there will be a few that I wouldn’t mind checking out.
@BearsEatBeets I’ll insert my obligatory post that Hard mode is where the combat in FF7R really shines so if you enjoy the game, definitely give it a go!
Much easier when you can skip cutscenes and ignore some side missions too (you might have to do some to get the “three dresses” trophy depending on what you do on your first run).
@RogerRoger@render@BearsEatBeets@colonelkilgore thanks guys! It was a lovely game, and will linger in my memory for a while. The 100 combo trophy was one of the harder ones, and I had to grind an Underground base about 3 times before I finally pulled it off. A couple other combat trophies took a small concentrated effort, like doing ‘X’ number of ceiling takedowns for example. And I had to use a guide to find Stan Lee’s statue and the dad’s gravesite but otherwise most trophies were straightforward.
A word about NG+, it was perfectly fine with this game because the main story is so brief and I was still enjoying it, but going through the process did nothing to convince me to start engaging in other games’ NG+ modes. I guess people like NG+ as a way to wipe the floor with early game enemies and bosses, like a revenge trip or something, but otherwise I’m not sure what the appeal is to repeat all that again. I think Miles Morales will be a unique situation where I am able to still enjoy the game on a quick second playthrough.

@BearsEatBeets congrats buddy, spinning a number of plates there so kudos. In regards to the Final Fantasy VIIR plat… as a noob to the series I found the hard playthrough (and another trophy in particular) very difficult. I know people who had very little trouble though, so you never know.
@RogerRoger Yeah, the thought occurred to me after I finished my NG+ playthrough and I almost instinctively started to do a side mission after my trophy popped, that a person with nothing better to do could just keep on playing if the enjoyment is still there in this well-crafted open world. I imagined many young Spidey fans who might be looking at Miles as a new hero and role model just wanting to keep playing the game over and over in the way I did for some early games of my youth.
I forget how privileged and lucky I am to have access to more games than I can ever play. I think being in the gaming enthusiast bubble obscures my perception that most players just buy a couple games per year and have to find their fun doing the same game over and over and playing a lot of free-to-play.

@render@Thrillho@RogerRoger@colonelkilgore Cheers everyone. And thanks for the advice about FFVII. Had a quick check on a trophy guide before starting about any missables so know about 'the dresses'. Not fussed what they wear so did what gave me the best chance of getting it if I go for it. @Th3solution I've only ever used NG+ for occasions where a second playthrough on a harder difficulty is required for a Platinum, and I've got to really like a game to try that so not often. I definitely did it for MM and Mass Effect Andromeda and possibly Dragon Age Inquisition. Although the more I think about the later I'm not sure if I did or not, or if it's even a possibility. If I do go for it in FFVII I'll definitely make use of it, especially as apparently you can grind up your level in chapter select arena or something. @RogerRoger That's good to know about Lego SW. I'll also be much more tolerant of any niggles with that as I had very little interest in the actual story of DC and knew hardly any of the characters outside the main few.
Just going to say a super helpful person messaged me on PSN after seeing my post on here and a few minutes ago got the online trophy done. Just a few rivals to beat in the career now.
#329 Nioh 2 - Yes, it's basically more of the same, but is it an issue when the original is so good ? This was an absolute blast, the combat system is near perfect and I can say that I got addicted, I just couldn't stop sometimes. I almost bought the season pass without even finishing the game first ! If I had to give some bad points though, that would be the camera and the forgettable story.
Platinum was long and not easy, but very enjoyable nonetheless, except for the Tea Connoisseur trophy and its useless farming.
@Cornaboyzzz congrats dude… if it was anything like the first one I can imagine how much work the plat took, so very well-earned. Looking forward to tucking into this myself.
@Cornaboyzzz Awesome platinum, well done. That must have been hard work but I can imagine if you can get into the zone then it’s one amazing game. I didn’t get too far into the first one and wish I’d persevered now. One day I’m planning on going back to see what I missed.
@Cornaboyzzz Massive congratulations! This weekend I have 'properly' started Nioh 1... and finally it is beginning to click with me.
I've been looking for something to fill the void since completing Elden Ring, and have since bounced off a few games.
Nioh is genuinely awesome, and the combat systems are so deep/rich! I love the pace of the game, and how every interaction is high-intensity.
I've beaten Sekiro (normal ending) and also hit Platinums for Demon's Souls / Returnal / Elden Ring... but Nioh is a whole different level of difficulty! Just beat the first 'proper' mission, and the boss on the ship took me about 15 tries ha....
I can only imagine how tricky the plat on Nioh 2 must have been? I have #2 in my backlog, but many recommended I play #1 first in order to get the base mechanics down etc (and also that #1 is justifiably a good game!)
@CJD87 well congrats on beating that boss on the ship after 15 tries.. this boss made me uninstall the game twice and i still haven't beat him, not rage quitting but more like i get frustrated and stop playing the game cause i just know i won't beat him , and the game sits on my hard drive for months till i need the space to download another game and so i delete nioh, but i do agree about the combat being deep and rich and i actually did like it a lot.
@TheNomadLad Thanks man, it was certainly a slog… although nowhere near as my ‘darkest hour’ during Sekiro! (Last boss in Sekiro took me 2 weeks, in which I spent probably an hour+ every day during that time trying to beat him)
With Nioh, and similar to FromSoft games, it doesn’t do a great job in fully explaining all the mechanics. I thought I had all this great armour with great perks… but hadn’t realised that the perks don’t ‘unlock’ unless you meet a certain skill point requirement. Once I knew this, I levelled up Strength to 7/8 and then I was able to actually take advantage of all the extra gear benefits ha
The boss was still rough going… and not even a trophy linked to him for winning lol!
I’m killing time now until MH Rise:Sunbreak at end June, hopefully enough time to best Nioh… unless I snap the disc in half by then
@CJD87 from what I remember of Nioh, one thing that you need to get to grips with is that there are no I-frames, so you can’t dodge through attacks etc. Once you can alter your mind-set in regards to that, you should start to see a bit more success.
@colonelkilgore haha oh where were you this time yesterday with that sage advice!! Many thanks, sadly I learned this the hard way….
You’re spot on, and it’s weird to actually play a ‘Souls-Like’ where the block mechanic is actually feasible. If DS/ER are all about ‘dodge’, Sekiro is about ‘Parry’, then for sure Nioh is all about the Block
The combat depth is the steepest ‘Souls-like’ learning curve I’ve ever experienced, but gets quite rewarding quickly. Towards the end of yesterday’s session I actually pulled off a perfect ki-pulse, into a high-stance change and then let rip with a decent combo!
@CJD87 sorry dude I was busy trying (and eventually succeeding) in scoring three hole-in-ones on par 5’s playing Everybodys Golf this time yesterday… much more difficult than any Nioh boss 😉 so my attention was well and truly locked in 😅
